  1. Very glad to hear that ERod is the starter tonight, as pointed out after this our pitching is lined up just fine. They have to play Pearce over Moreland who has given them nothing, Hell he hasn't given them much since June.
  2. I'm sure this has been mentioned but I certainly would have walked Puig to get to Grandal. Losing Game 3 when you are up 2-0 usually isn't so bad, but damned one out away from basically sealing up the World Series is just brutal. Especially given the cost in terms of player use. But both teams have the same schedule so playing on short rest is not an advantage or disadvantage to either team. We'll be fine, Mookie will soon be Mookie and we will still win this thing.
  3. Nice post here, well done. To me Evoldi has been one of our MVPs of the playoffs for obvious reasons. I remember we discussed using starters in the set up role, at that time Evolidi was still a 50/50 shot to either be great or terrible. I just didn't trust him in tight spots over and over again as a long playoff run rolls on. I figured his inconsistency would show it's ugly head sooner rather than later. Same with Kelly and Barnes. But was I wrong, so far anyway. Kelly is throwing strikes and everyone knows that's always been his issue. I'm not sure I bought the Kimbrel was tipping his pitches as the only reason, he was walking a ton of guys too when he was struggling.
  4. Kelly was also demoted to mop up duty for a long stretch this year due to ineffectiveness. Barnes has had good numbers but I didn't know anyone who was completely comfortable when he came in the game, just way too many bad outings. Brasier did come out of nowhere, another way of saying that is he was picked up off the scrape heap. His resume would never suggest he could be shut down in the playoffs. I've always been a Kimbrel fan, I was one of the few who was OK with that trade. But let's not pretend he hasn't been just short of a disaster for a few months now before his last 2 outings. He was giving up runs every time he took the mound, not a good thing for a closer in the post season.
  5. I still think Price is a jerk and I have not forgiven him for the Eck thing. But lately I'm in a more forgiving mood.
  6. This wasn't a 1 or 2 month issue. Going back to the opener Joe Kelly and the rest of the set up men were very inconsistent and at times downright awful all year. Kelly has been this way most of his career. The concern was complete justified.
  7. I had no idea Pom was on the post season roster, I don't see him ever pitching. At least I sure hope not. Boy what a feeling. Once again our bullpen is doing something few of us thought possible a month ago. That's what makes sports so great, you just never know what's going to happen. I'm usually very reserved because we all know things can change but I gotta say I'm really feeling this title now.
  8. Dave Roberts is once again a post season hero for the Red Sox.
  9. Bogey makes a nice defensive play, adding defense to the power, speed, and good pitching they showed and Joe Buck says "the Red Sox have it all on full display". Other than the final outs of those other World Series wins I don't think I've had a prouder moment as a Sox fan. What a performance. I thought one of the keys to the game was when the Dodgers only got a sac fly out of Machado with the bases juiced to preserve the Red Sox lead.
  10. Can't wait for the show to start.
  11. I think it's great news that Wright will be available. Just because we haven't needed him before does not mean he won't be needed to win 4 more games. As for Cora/Tito one has proven it for a long time, Cora is finishing his first year. A year where he seemed to pull all the right strings. We'll leave it at that.
  12. I'm with you, last night was a huge relief to see him throw strikes. I don't think tipping pitches was the problem, it was his control.
  13. Yeah I had no problem with his comments. I know I'm not the only one who never saw HR when Devers hit that ball, I was thinking deep fly and a 2 run lead and I was fine with that. When the outfielder turned I couldn't believe it, then screamed my customary "Get Out Of Here!!!". I picked that up from Sparky Anderson on a WS Home Run when he was in Cincy and for some reason I've been screaming it ever since.
  14. Did someone mention Manny?
  15. Holy Crap I literally forgot all about HRam. Haven't given him a thought since early summer.
  16. Meh, I don't see any media driven drama. The bullpen was criticized because there was every reason to criticize them. I was really glad to see the old Kimbrell last night. I'm not sure you can win a WS with an iffy closer.
  17. The world got to see just how good our outfield defense is and they didn't even get to see our best defensive OF make a circus play in CF. Price out dueling Verlander in October. This is what makes sports so great, you just never know what's going to happen. Huge call goes our way, Matt Barnes suddenly turns into Dennis Eckersley. It just felt throughout this series that this is just our year.
  18. Such a strange situation, never would I have imagined our set up men would be money and Craig Kimbrel will be the huge question mark. Can a team win a World Series with a closer who gives up runs ever time out?
  19. I actually think he made that catch. As posted before the hero of the night was Nathan Eovaldi. Another big performance in a big spot, hear that David Price? But like with Kimbrell at times I think Eovaldi goes away from his fastball too much. If I threw 101 I think I'd take advantage of that more often.
  20. I believe I have now watched the JBJ grand slam 25 times, it was the first thing I thought of when I woke up. Speaking of that the wife could not hang, thinks baseball is boring, so she drifted off. Until that bomb, that woke her ass up. Well I did anyway. I still can't believe this bullpen. Barnes scares the crap out of me but he continues to be solid. We have survived multiple Joe Kelly sightings. I was convinced this would be their downfall and it could very well still happen, but not yet.
  21. Yeah I have resigned myself to the very real possibility that my favorite player of this generation of players has probably played his last game. Imagine this team with a healthy Dustin Pedroia
  22. Well said. Other than starting Kinsler, and who can argue that decision, most every move Cora has made has worked out.
  23. I'm not so sure of that. It was a tight zone but 4 walks is 4 walks.
