  1. I get the comment in the other thread about using Houck last night when they had a chance to win that game. But I am very happy he is available tonight, agree Sale gets the hook quickly if necessary. Sox need to start out fast on offense. Again. When Bogey hit the bomb and the Stros were forced to their bullpen early, again, I really liked our chances last night.
  2. I haven't forgotten just how good Chris Sale was in his first month back. So I am confident that at some point he will figure it out. Now I have no idea what is going on but he surely can't be trusted tonight.
  3. Well one loss and I see fans have already turned on Bloom. I was fine with their deadline decisions and how it sure looked smarter than what the Yankee did. Until last night. It was a very disappointing loss for sure but they lost the game by failing to cash in with so many runners on base. It was pretty clear that 2 runs was not going to hold up. They had their chances, they will get another opportunity tonight to take back control of the series. I'm nervous as Hell. And so should the Atlanta Braves be. They had the WS on their racket and they let the Dodgers back in the series and now have momentum.
  4. I had no problem when Correa did what he did, I was cool with ERod's response. And ARod has always been a douche bag.
  5. I keep reminding myself that the series is 2-1 when it feels like 3-0. One day at a time, this could all turn around in 2 days.
  6. Yeah the announcers gave Altuve a huge pass, didn't hardly talk about the biggest play in the game. Taylor made double play ball that would have kept it 1-0 if I'm not mistaken. This is amazing to watch. Talk about a team getting hot at the right time, we actually look like a good defensive team when we all know better as the Astros kick the ball around. Good ERod showed up when we needed him. Another grand slam? No words to express my feelings on that.
  7. The Seager play was amusing to me because a play or 2 earlier he made a very good short hop catch on a force play. Now it was a good play but Darling said "99% of the time that play is not made" or however it was worded. IMO 80% of the time a major league 2nd baseman makes that play too.
  8. They lost me when the super teams were being put together by the players and it became professional wrestling, when you knew who would be in the finals before the first ball was in play. I know that was the case with the Bulls but later I had had enough. Not crazy about how the game is played today, with so many teams lining 5 at the 3pt line and taking turns jacking up 3's or going one on one. I miss the low post game, a game when you knew you would take a beating if you drove to the lane. Now it's wide open. And then there's football, I find 40 short passes a game to be terribly boring.
  9. I wasn't all that confident going in, house money is what I'm thinking. But I'm more encouraged after seeing these posts.
  10. ERod is so hard to make a plan for, he is just so inconsistent. Which of course was why I had confidence in him last night, after such a poor outing he looked like a good candidate to spin a good one the next time out. But do you give money to a guy you don't know which version will show up on any given day?
  11. The last time I posted here was in 2018. It was also the only season before this one that I purchased the MLB Network so I could see every Red Sox game here in Maryland. Just sayin'
  12. Put me in the camp that was pretty appalled that Cora went to Davis at such a critical moment. I kept thinking In Cora I Trust but that scared the crap out of me. So much fun and tension last night. I love sitting on the edge of my seat, then celebrating when our pitcher gets through a late inning. Good times, thought that damned thing would never end.
  13. Biggest game in years, I can't wait. Win it for Thunder Grandpa!
  14. Damn last night was fun watching our boys swell up. I didn't hug a cat tree but I woke the wife up with JD's bomb. Normally she doesn't complain, last night was a bit much I guess.
  15. I don't think people are bickering, just offering our opinion. But Alex Cora is the best manager I have seen in my lifetime with Terry a very close 2nd, I'm not old enough to evaluate Dick Williams. What he did this year after what we saw last season, was remarkable and I'm very very happy he is our manager. Now if we could just get Theo back, but I know that won't happen.
  16. Boy ain't that the truth. I couldn't understand pulling Evoldi, he was dealing and had a low pitch count after an infield hit and the HR for Brasier. It worked out but still didn't make sense to me.
  17. Again I find myself agreeing with you. I would have left Evoldin in. Brasier nearly gave it all back.
  18. What a great day to be a Red Sox fan. As I live near Washington they are the only team I root for that I can be proud of. Nick kind of stole my line, I was going to post that at Fenway we are Cole's daddy. We were getting breaks and it just felt like it was our night. The 2 by Stanton that looked to be out, the ball in the corner that stayed in play, Kike's infield single. I almost had a heart attack when the announcers implied Bogey was hung up between third and home, my thought was another baserunning error. Pretty cool surprise to watch him cross the plate. I too loved how Cora is using the pen in these must win games. I'm done trusting the names mentioned earlier in crucial situations. Starters on Sunday, Brasier made me nervous but he got through. I had full confidence in Houck, Robles and Whitlock to close it out. Thank you Nathan Evoldi for yet another big performance in a big game.
  19. Yes it's where I found myself after leaping out of my recliner with my arms raised and walking across the room. But I'm really a dog guy, getting a new puppy tomorrow. Same as the dog in my avatar, long coat Shepherd
  20. I've always been an Evoldi guy, very happy with the contract extension. I agree he is the pitcher who gives us the best chance. I also agree that Cora may indeed use starters in relief as he did on Sunday which was a brilliant move. But I just don't feel good about this game, not one bit. But if we lose I have zero complaints about the season. Just so much fun, especially all the 2 out runs we scored. My wife would have laughed her ass off at my reaction to that Devers 9th inning homerun. OK so I was pretty buzzed but after my initial celebration I buried my head in my hands and leaned against the cat tree and thought "it really happened". You see I saw who was on first and I said to Devers "well you have to hit a home run" and he did on the next pitch. Good times.
  21. Whatever happens on Tuesday I'm still very happy with the season for reasons already posted. This is a terribly flawed team right now, but damned it was a fun season. When I reminded myself that we had a slow runner on first I said to Devers "well I guess you have to hit a homerun", which he did on the next pitch. Best moment of a great year for me. Or was it the triple by Vaz the night before? What a great series to end the season.
  22. The ball lost in the lights was a bad break. But then he proceeded to walk the next 2 batters to load the bases, then gave up the sac fly. This has been the issue all season, he never has a clean inning.
  23. Yeah this is a great race, what fun. I see what I have believed for a few weeks now, Sox and Yankees as it should be. I also see the Yankees advancing regardless of where it is played.
  24. One of the strangest seasons I can recall. I had low expectations going in, after the sweep by the O's to start the season I had zero expectations. Then I saw a team with no production from the leadoff spot and absolute garbage in the last few spots in the lineup putting up runs and winning games at a high level. They gave me much more excitement than I ever expected in April. Now here they are, 2 wins from the playoff and in game #161 they do not know who their closer is. Never seen a playoff team in that situation ever.
  25. I could never switch teams. Unless it's a situation like the Colts moving out of Baltimore to me you pick a team when you are 8 and that's your team for life, win or lose. I would never change simply because I lived near a team that was good at the time. That just seems so wrong to me. In fact I tried a few years ago. The then Redskins were hopeless and with Snyder I know that won't ever change. So I tried to be a Ravens fan, they do it the right way. But my heart just wasn't in it, I could not undo 50 years of allegiance to my team.
