  1. Cmon put Salty in game 6. Lackey always does better when Salty is catching.
  2. As I mentioned before, the 2013 Bruins were the comeback team destined to win the Stanley Cup Final. They got there but lost in 6 games. Here is the result of each game: Lost game 1 Won game 2 Won game 3 Lost game 4 Lost game 5 Lost game 6 So far in the WS, the Sox have: Won Lost Lost Won Won If we win on Wednesday, it will be the reverse of the Bruins series. Reverseo mojo?
  3. Yes yes yes yes yes Drew and Ross!!
  4. I don't know if Craig ever touched home plate at the end of Game 3. He missed it, but you can't tell if he touched it after the slide because his team crowded around him. And yes, idk why more people aren't talking about how Craig could have gone around Middlebrooks... Also, the example in the rulebook for the obstruction rule that kept being played on TV might have been intended to be about a situation where a second baseman or shortstop dives trying to get a wild throw to second on a stolen base attempt and impede's the runner's progress.
  5. History was made today. The emotions of triumph and defeat summed up in one image: http://pho.to/41VYu/x8/original
  6. Let Salty start game 3 instead of punishing him for defense. Wouldn't he be better against a RHP than Ross, especially since we shouldn't need Ross's extra defense against a non-stealing team? Game 2 is probably going to be the only situation in this series where Ross's extra defense was really needed.
  7. Is there one black person on the Cardinals?
  8. NL should keep having no DH. It's fun to watch pitchers bat, and that's all you need. The AL and NL aren't the east and the west. The difference between them is the DH rule, and without that difference, they would just be two differently named leagues. There wouldn't be much meaning behind interleague play or representing one of the leagues if they both had a DH. Having no DH also allows rookies to get in the game more instead of being benched forever in the AL. About the actual topic: I can't wait to see Ellsbury mess with the pitcher's head and try to steal with Yadi at the plate. Yadi throws out almost half of guys trying to steal, so Ellsbury might only have a 70% chance of being safe (idk, something like that). Quinton Berry vs Yadier in the 9th of a one run game would be the best.
  9. On the subject of missing work for seeing big playoff games on TV, I don't think it's weird for someone who works on different days each week to request that they don't work on a certain day if you tell them way ahead of time, especially if that week's schedule isn't made yet. All you have to do is say that it's not necessary you don't come in on that certain Monday, but if they haven't made the schedule yet, then maybe avoid Monday if it doesn't cause conflicts. If they ask why you're doing this, you could just say that the day would be an opportunity to hang out with your family (which is true if you watch the games with them). Or maybe you could use the time to get school work done. This isn't being selfish because you're not saying you need the day off, you're just throwing a scheduling suggestion out there. I wouldn't do this more than a couple times in October though, cause then you could seem picky. More importantly, you guys do know that maybe half of people are picking St. Louis to win the WS right? I'm still going with my cocky prediction of Sox in 5. Sox have been through the most astounding things this year and yet they're somehow the only team that hasn't played an elimination game yet. St. Louis has survived two so far. On top of that, the Cards had a year-long division battle to avoid the wild-card game, longer than our fight for first. But we've still been through more than them because of the ALCS alone. We have all the championship character and talent, where they in comparison only have the talent (not saying you need to act like doofises to have character or anythin).
  10. I'm frickin speachless. All four wins this series were very close games. It's been a fun ride with this forum even though this place gets pretty trashy sometimes. The clutch performances can't lead to anything less than a WS title; that would be lame. I know this is exactly what I thought with the Bruins last year and they lost in the final round, but I don't know if the Cards have that "scary team that can sneak up on you" factor. I picked the Sox to beat the Tigers in 6 before the series started, so I'm going to make my WS prediction Sox in 5. Everybody in the ALCS came through when they needed to. Drew made an error this game but not when it mattered, Ortiz's only success was when you needed him to succeed the most. Middlebrook's only success was a double that we needed to win Game 2. Nap struck out a lot before getting hot exactly when necessary. Taz picked the game with a 2 run lead to give up 1 run. Farrel outright chose Gomes to play over Nava because of "intangibles" (aka magic). Vic has a homer after being cold exactly when needed. Everything just worked.
  11. Allen Craig batted .454 with RISP in 134 games this year. He might be back for the WS, and without him the Cards are already the best team in the NL.
  12. This series is absolutely ridiculous. I hope that if we win the WS, the documentary made about this season will correctly show how dang close this series was, even if we win in 6.
  13. We have our offense back. Things are looking good. The baseball gods rarely make clutch moments like the end of Game 2 go to waste. Go get em.
  14. Only the Sox could find away to get a 2-1 series lead against that legendary pitching.
  15. Any Cabrera contact could have tied the game. Tazawa's strikeout was the most exciting part of the whole game. Even better than Nap's home run.
  16. Smartest man in baseball coming in for relief.
  17. Oh yeaaahhhhh. Napoli is exactly what we need in a game where nobody can string together hits.
  18. I don't think Nap's strikeout was that bad. The breaking ball he took in the zone was one that looked like it was going to break more and fall further.
  19. If Benoit is pronounced like benwah then are we supposed to say Detroit like detwaah? Ortiz had 2 homers off Price who he never homered off of, and one against Benoit who he never homered off. Watch out for guys he has faced but not homered off, seriously.
  20. The meaning behind Game 1 is that it's very hard to come back from even a 1 run deficit at the end of a game. It made you think the team might not have magic anymore. Then the team continues to fade away in Game 2, confirming that they are just done. After what happened last game, there was no way they could get 4 runs. Then they barely manage to load the bases and make history. I'm not sure , but this had to have been the best Sox game in the last 5 years. Just not comprehendable. Too bad I had to miss it (except for the 9th on the radio, which was amazing.)
  21. I read sometime back in the regular season that Gomes' lifetime batting average with 2 outs and RISP is .430. Big step up from his regular average.
  22. That game was okay, I guess.
  23. I guess you gotta have moments like this to make you grateful for the times when teams do come through in the 9th.
