    Moon's question is on stats: I believe the WC is considered 'post-season', but tie-breaker games or play-ins are considered statistically as regular season, giving a season with 163 games.

    Yes, I know that. But 5GG is correct, I think. There is never an argument about large contracts in this crowd that doesn't get on a roll, gather up residual snow, and end up as the base for a teetering moral snow man. (E.g., e.g., several comments above deriding players who just 'go for the money').

    You could make that argument. You could also argue that film stars are paid too much and therefore you won't go to the movies. Why not direct your wrath of overpaid workers to the CEO's, whose businesses you subsidize despite their millions in salaries and stock options.

    Yes, it's crucial to id who the 'garbage' is, and why other teams are so blind to that we can trade them for 'medium free agents'. Nearly everyone on the roster has been called garbage at some point this year, so it's hard to keep track.

    Why? Any idiot can jump up and down and throw his hat. Even in my old amateurish athlete days, when I saw a coach or manager do that, it never inspired me. In fact, it was embarrassing. And I doubt any professional athlete says, WOW, my manager threw his hat and kicked dirt; THEREFORE, I'm going to play harder.

    While we were moaning about the lack of fundamentals, Yanks win on a walk-off in part because the Rays' catcher seemed not to know that he had a force at home, stood off the bag and tried to make a tag. (And SplSpl, I'm with you 100% on FL and TX.)
