  1. Oh for the days of Josh Beckett taking 45 seconds to a minute and a half between pitches! Think how the pitch clock infringed upon the rights of those who just lived for watching him wander about the mound, rubbing up the ball on a 2-1 count.
  2. Now wait. THe evidence you cite that he wants to play is that one year, he played a total of 5 out of (let me think), around 180 games. Who wouldn't want a job like that??
  3. Jays announcers give Vasquez credit for a nice at-bat! Dude! it's the 9th inning!
  4. I know that. Just yanking your chain. Trying to remind myself that, even though I've invested 65 or more years in this team, it's only a game!
  5. No worries. Schwaber's coming. (He can pitch as well as play first, right?). As soon as that new groin injury heals.
  6. Yup. That launch-angle stuff is b.s. It's all about cutting down on the swing and going the opposite way. Right?
  7. Dalbec should have picked that, no?
  8. Is Dale Berra their bench coach?
  9. I thought someone just said the only problem with the RS was pitching, defense, and hitting.
  10. Terrible AB by Bogaerts. Hurt?
  11. Yup. It's all about starting pitching. Once that comes around, the Sox will be fine.
  12. They're professionals. It shouldn't matter when they come to the plate what 'spot' in the order they're hitting in or whether they got an extra day of rest.
  13. OK. After that bush-league pitch, I'm rooting for the Jays.
  14. Well, the good news is that the starting pitching has REALLY improved. NE actually made it part-way through the fifth.
  15. Not sure why the Toronto announcers claim he can't hit the high inside FB-- well, he can't, I guess. But the pitch that traditionally gets him is something breaking low and away ... like that. Amazing he made contact.
  16. Could someone explain to me how the scorer did not give an E on that?
  17. What? Are you sure about that? You mean when I look at the scores in the morning, how I look at them (I have my special technique) DOESN'T affect the score???? Holy cr*p!!!! Who knew!
  18. Ha. But Lee Smith was awesome! Even if the RS-version of Gagne sucked.
  19. How about a pre- un-roided Gagne? Also, Lee Smith.
  20. I have no idea what professional baseball players think. So I'll just go with Charles Barkley's famous statement: "Players care about three things: Money, Playing Time, and Winning ... In that order." I don't expect player's disappointment, expectations, or satisfaction is going to affect their performance one bit.
  21. Since when are fans of the entertainment industry obliged to 'tough it out'? So if some series I'm watching on Netfix sucks, I have the moral obligation to keep watching to the end?
  22. I know. It just seems miraculous that the Sox are where they are now. It's like the 9th inning with Schiraldi on the mound (one of my favorites then!), two outs, and a couple of dribblers sneak through the infield into left.
  23. Not quite fifty-five for me, I think, but close. The ... what was it? 3? ... WS losses seemed the norm, and with the exception of 2003, the later ones just seemed like old hat. (Not that I want to go back to the Ike Delock and Garry Geiger days.)
  24. Exactly. I was driving around yesterday trying to remind myself of the RS rotation. I kept thinking, I MUST be missing someone or perhaps more than one, since all the names that came to mind seemed like #4 or 5 or even 'desperate' starters (Pivetta? Perez? ...) The enormity of the problem hit me when I realized I did in fact have them all, even our apparent 'ace' Eovaldi. Listening to the last few games makes me wonder how the RS are even a .500 team, let alone in first place.
