  1. No love for Devers' two bombs. The foul ball a few innings back looked like it would take half the staadium with it.
  2. And the owner/franchise get rewarded for alienating the fans by being given the plum location.
  3. It'll be tough given the Devers situation. I mean he was on pace to hit 162 dingers, and now he's been out half the season with injuries!
  4. First place to last place overnight!! What-a-world what-a-world ...
  5. I think the odds are about the same.
  6. Raffy! (Despite the largest strike zone I think I've ever seen.)
  7. Yeah, that Dodger SS just went deep. Hitting almost .700 over first 3 games. How come we can't get players like that?
  8. We're undefeated! And I expect it to stay that way (for another 9 hours at least).
  9. Nice. (Did you just make that up? or borrow it?)
  10. Oh, we can do MUCH worse than that!
  11. JH's dinner-dates just breathed a huge sigh of relief.
  12. Don't you think it's also exacerbated by the (now common) turn-over of players? Just when we get used to 'our' guys, a lot of them are gone. It's easier to be optimistic in the spring if you're dealing w/ familiar faces (doesn't matter really how good they are: Betts, Bradley, Vasquez, even guys like Verdugo). It's really diffficult to maintain 'team loyalty' or even to give a crap about winning when half the guys you've been loyal to are playing for other teams. I suspect this is the case w/ fans of nearly every team in the league.
  13. I'm lost. You were objecting to my suggestion that the RS have not had successful playoff runs in the last few years?
  14. Oh right, one playoff in five years! Can't believe how I misjudged recent RS glory.
  15. Now the translator's resume (degree from UC Riverside, and time working for both the RS and Yankees) is reported to be completely fabricated--good news for Ohtani and those of us here who want to see this phenom play. [LATER: I find his extensive statement today completely credible, and consistent with everything (which isn't much) that we know of him.]
  16. What is 'playoffs'?
  17. Must have been '87 I was a Royals game in the photographers' well (gf on assignment). I lent a pen to Bill Buckner to sign something for a kid and as he handed it back, it made a small mark on my program. I would say I've treasured that program ever since, but I believe I gave it to my RS-obsessed nephew.
  18. In that case, I'll go w/ the unders on #1 and #2, but I'm having my interpreter go BIG on the overs on #3.
  19. "And I tell 'em, in order to SAVE money, you gotta spend money. You see, there are three kinds of pipe ..." (--Moonstruck)
  20. I think it is only fitting that the first prop bet should be the number of games Ohtani is suspended, or perhaps the amount of the fine, or the number of words in the reprimand.
  21. If you always look for bargains, you get them.
  22. You should strike!
  23. The greatest play in baseball history! (Who was the dude in LF who over-ran the ball and caught it bare-handed?)
  24. Do you think so? Every time there is a labor dispute in sports, all I hear are cries that the players get paid way too much; I never hear about owners making big profits. And it's always struck me as odd. Maybe bec. fans these days are into fantasy sports, and thus relate more to the FO than to the players?
  25. Not sure we should release our inner Schadenfreude since we're the ones who gave up Mookie for him.
