  1. No. I feel exactly the same way--it's never never safe to bring Gene Stephens in at left.
  2. Oh well. Keep throwing those high fastballs, since no one else can hit them. (well ...almost no one else)
  3. Doubtless he will. Alas, just not today apparently.
  4. No. They're waling. (in all senses).
  5. Seems like they have no choice, since the first one or two they see look right in the strike zone. It's the last one that's out of the zone. Fantastic pitching!
  6. Glad I have the Yankees announcers instead, who seem a lot better than anything you're talking about on ESPN.
  7. Love Hanley, even though he likely should have been out at third.
  8. It was only partially the strike zone. Any major league hitter has got to be able to hit his pitch#1--right down the middle.
  9. A "small crack" is a euphemism for a "non-displaced fracture." In the ankle, wouldn't 6-8 weeks be a better guess than 10-14 days? (Had he been able to walk off the field under his own power, I might be more optimistic.)
  10. I already follow one team where playing time is not determined by in-game performance (the CLippers and their nepotistic coach and former GM--Austin Rivers' dad). I don't want to have to find myself a a fan of another.
  11. If I were a young player, I would likely consider that the possible gains are worth the risk.
  12. Exactly. Good point.
  13. I'm with you on most of this (except the 'nicest people' part--I don't find golfers alas any different from the general population). Also, although my marathon days are well past, I recall that frustrating though it may be, I never felt like ripping my equipment off and hurling it into a tree.
  14. Add me. I've always loved Hanley (w/ the exception of his absurd days in LF). He (like his namesake Manny) make hitting look like the most natural thing in the world (well, let's not get carried away--Hanley does that SOME of the time). They also make baseball look like a fun game to play.
  15. I think this year it's the Hanley flash.
  16. Yeah. I guess every now and then I forget that the internet is as full of acid-witted badasses as it is.
  17. Not as slow as ... Bour was it?... trying to score from first and hitting the wall about half way between 3rd and home.
  18. Odd time for a guy throwing 97-98 to drop a breaking ball into the middle of the plate.
  19. Well, more baseball! (Yay, ... I suppose).
  20. More gruel please.
  21. There's a block function for posters who continually use juvenile sexist, racist, and homophobic language, is there not?
  22. An idiot? So in your opinion, he was trying to hit the ball there?
  23. I wouldn't know of course, but I'm told the firstrowsports site has no problem keeping two or three games going simultaneously of any sport you want.
  24. The 70-year-old woman I play with, who has only been playing a year and a half, beats me and even outdrives me often enough that I don't need any further evidence that girls can play!
  25. Golf is a very maddening and amusing sport to play. Watching golf? I'd say it's half that.
