  1. Exactly. For me that would be enough progress for this year. Once you get in anything can happen, though I don't think anyone believes this team can compete for a ring, not yet.
  2. Breslow has made several good moves, obviously. But if they don’t make the playoffs then the job he has done simply isn’t good enough. That’s the bottom line.
  3. If we get a couple from that list Rafaela is fine in CF-next year. But THIS YEAR we can’t afford him. Not if we want to make the playoffs. I’d rather send other non performing players down like Yoshida or Lowe but that’s not possible. It’s a risk bringing up Password or Campbell but I don’t see us making the playoffs without taking the chance. Henry is going to have to open his wallet and Breslow is going to have to do his job better.
  4. And most teams have at least two very good offensive players. That more or less makes having a black hole or two manageable. The roster is poorly constructed. Even our somewhat above average hitters aren’t performing. We would be a very different team if we had a Guerrero, a Buxton, a Bichette, a Springer or two. We can’t option some of our underperforming players but we could send some down in a last ditch effort to make the playoffs. That’s on Breslow
  5. Bottom line: we need at least two reliable bats next year. Then having Rafaela and another guy who isn’t good with a bat won’t hurt as much.
  6. Yup We were forced to dump our great hitter because he wasn’t a team player. Anthony may become a great hitter. Abreu is hurt but he’s not a great hitter.. So like I said we really don’t have a great (or even a good) cast of players surrounding Rafaela. It’s why we can’t afford him in the lineup. We’re stuck with Yoshida and Lowe and other non performing players but Rafaela has options. Send him down to work out his plate discipline and hope that next year Breslow does a better job.
  7. Cheery picking Dont worry we all do it I don’t have time right now to look at BR but I will later. I believe he started off strong, then tailed off for a long period of time, then picked it up again a bit. Since the ASB he’s at .183/.617 Like I said, he’s tailed off for the second half. I can cherry pick too but my numbers include a longer stretch and are therefore more valid.
  8. Pretty much. If the other guys were better we could tolerate Narvaez and Rafaela. They aren’t. And we can’t. It’s why we can’t score. When we had Manny and Ortiz we could tolerate a couple of black holes. They’re long gone. Breslow did construct the roster properly to be able to accommodate guys like CR.
  9. IM not asking for a team of all stars. Who on this team is a great hitter? Name 2 Absent a couple of mashers everyone else has to perform at least at average or better.
  10. He was. He’s tailed off. Again-you can’t discuss Narvaez in a vacuum. It depends on who else is on the roster
  11. My preference is to NOT make it personal. But I reserve the right to respond if attacked. We don’t need to Go there. It’s what ignore buttons are for.
  12. He’s part of the problem. So is Yoshida, Lowe, Narvaez, Wong etc.
  13. There isn’t a dumbed down level you could ever understand
  14. He flails about every night. He’s bound to have some RBIs. If you can’t see how useless he is with a bat I can’t help You. As far as “the hunt” goes., it will be over by the end of the week.
  15. Look, you’re smart enough to realize that you can’t look at Rafaela in a vacuum. If he was the only black hole-or if there was only one or two more even-and everyone else was an offensive force-that’s fine. But on THIS TEAM we simply can’t afford him.
  16. I apologize for calling you a moron. A moron is defined as having an IQ of 51-70. An imbecile is more accurate-IQ of 25-50. And that’s being kind.
  17. It’s the TEAM’S problem. And I agree that Breslow didn’t do his job
  18. His OPS for the year is under .700. That’s fine if you play great defense AND you are on a team of mashers. We don’t have mashers.
  19. WAR counts. But when all your WAR is from defense and your team can’t score your defense is of secondary importance. It’s embarrassing I have to explain this to some posters here.
  20. That’s just wonderful! Hows his OPS nowadays? Our problem is scoring runs and he can’t help.
