  1. Some of these players will improve the roster. Most are meh. None of them will put us over the top to compete for a ring. Its obviously not a priority for Henry any more.
  2. Contreras will help the team, but the need for a good bat persists, along with the need for a #2 SP. I don't see us getting either need met. Furthermore, we haven't signed a 3B man yet. Bregman wants six years? Say what?
  3. I think they should get a very good bat and a #2 SP. I don’t care how they do it or if it costs a lot
  4. I’d be shocked if we got any of them. I think what you see now is what we have this season except perhaps for another retread dumpster dive.
  5. Generally in life you get what you pay for. Over the past several years Henry has spent his life dumpster diving for retreads rather than signing prime FAs like Soto, Schwarber, Alonso etc. They are gone now. Other teams that aren't so cheap paid what is necessary to obtain talent. Henry didn't. No, its not mandatory to fill the FLOPS vacancies with talented players. Its only mandatory if they want to compete for a ring. Guess that is no longer a priority.
  6. Nonetheless, in the FLOPS situation right now it was mandatory to pick up a couple of talented FAs (at LEAST) to fill the vacancies in our #2SP and power hitting bat, neither of which got accomplished. Those guys were out there. Now they are gone. But Henry was too cheap to pay for what was needed to make the team competitive during the current window. Like I said, this franchise has become an embarassing s*** show. Instead of improving on last year they at best marched in place and if they don't even sign Bregman they regress.
  7. You’re right! The management isn’t just cheap-they’re also incompetent!
  8. Look at the history of these sorry franchise! We aren't getting ANY of those guys. We will get a retread and a bunch of excuses, just like we usually get. Yes, they did good extending our ace and signing Bregman for a year. But who else have they really got, who of high quality, recently? This franchise has become a shell of what it should be. This is a BIG MARKET, not a budget team. Disgusting ownes; disgusting franchise.
  9. Great that Suarez and Valdez are still available! We aren’t getting them either. Too expensive for the cheapskate owner.
  10. Fred and Pumpsie….while two of me would be much better for everyone you need to choose one. meanwhile King just signed with the Padres. Not much left out there. I am more concerned about how bad we will be in 2026 than Francona’s or Epstein s resume. I guess this is the 2026 Red FLOPS. What a disgusting franchise….,
  11. Who’s Pumpsie? ”Over .500” is good enough for you? It’s not good enough for me. It’s mediocrity to me. Competing for a playoff spot nearly every year is good enough for me. We haven’t seen that.
  12. Its a tough job sometimes, but someone has to do it. Meanwhile, I have been right more often than wrong.
  13. Agree. Greene plus a very good RHH bat would be a successful offseason. I do not think that the two Japanese players should count though. They are unproven. I am referring to a proven OPS bat who has hit over .800 OPS consistently. There are a few question marks who may also make an impact in 2026: Casas, Mayer, and Campbell. Not counting on them very much but it could happen. Meanwhile, we are not getting Greene OR a "thumper in the middle of the lineup" (as Breslow termed it).
  14. Last year we made the playoffs. Big improvement. This year I expect more. We have a window to compete for a ring. Its time Breslow and the cheapskate go all in to bring it home. Yeah, getting Greene would be an excellent start. Still need help on the offensive side. Chances of any of that happening given the history of this franchise: near zero.
  15. Yeah right. We need a "big thumper in the lineup" like we were going "full throttle" last year (or was it the year before-I forget since all the years seem so similar).
  16. Brady has the warped opinion that by getting Okamoto and Green and Kim we will suddenly be able to compete in the division. We won't and anyone who has been paying attention knows this. Dumpster diving by Henry is absolutely pathetic. Its disrespectful of the loyal fan base. I think we have two elite players: Crochet and Anthony, and we are about to waste the window to compete for a ring that their presence provides.
  17. As of now we are probably better than only the Rays in the division. Gray will make a fine #4 SP. We have holes everywhere and Henry and Breslow have shown no inclination to fill them with quality players. Likely going to be yet ANOTHER summer where we hold our noses from the stench of the franchise.
  18. King apparently had impingement of the long thoracic nerve. It causes weakness and pain in the shoulder. While physical therapy can help nerves are notoriously slow to recover-if they ever do. I’d approach signing him with great caution.
  19. Strange. When I first clicked on the link I got a pay wall message. Now that I read it it seems that he had a significant nerve injury to his shoulder. If that is fully healed he might be worth a shot, though apparently after he returned from his IL stint he wasn’t very good. The article further says he has a “strong interest” in playing in Boston- as long as their offer is the most lucrative for him (I added the last part)-which it almost certainly will not be.
  20. You know what he is going to do. The same thing has done for most of the last five years. Dumpster diving.
  21. Why thank you very very much! I will take that as a compliment!
  22. Like I said, crap franchise, crap owner. The only way we will ever be able to be serious competitors for a ring is if Henry sells the team
  23. I admit he spent some of his billions last winter. Good for him! He gave Devers’ salary away (along with other expiring deals) so he has so far pocketed nearly all of it, to the detriment of the team. He’s been cutting back for years. The fans have come to expect that he won’t spend anymore. He’s blowing our window up. It’s not just Alonso and Schwarber he won’t pay. It’s anyone else who is expensive. I’m not expecting us to sign anyone of consequence. Just more retreads like Gray.
  24. You have no idea whether the other 28 teams thought Philly overpaid. They just didn’t want to offer more. The fact is that he and Alonso were the top two HR hitters available on the FA market and Henry was too cheap to outbid the competition for either of them. In fact he’s too cheap to get anyone of significance this offseason. I don’t see that changing. They are wasting our window. Crap owner; crap franchise.
