  1. Whats the matter with you? You don't think its fair to compare a trade the pits a position player on a hot streak to one who hasn't thrown a pitch for his team yet?
  2. He wilted at the end of last year due to overuse. Look at his ERA from May to Sept 1. He dominated.
  3. OK, fair enough. His ERA of 4.69, I wonder how that compares to other #5 SP in the league. Still, he was an excellent slam-the-door type of RP and now we are discussing whether or not he is an effective #5 SP. I think I would rather have an excellent RP than a questionable #5 SP on my team. Those guys are a dime a dozen.
  4. Read my post again. I believe I said that "yes, its early" somewhere in there. I also said that so far there is little if anything to be encouraged about.
  5. Come on Dojji. Look at the facts. Our lineup is MUCH better than the popgun lineup the Orioles threw at Bard. Betemit is hitting .221. Three guys in their starting lineup today are batting less than that. How many guys in our starting lineup today are batting less than .221? I'll give you a hint: its less than 1. I realize that you obstinately defend whatever the Red Sox do, but when you compare our lineup today with theirs today, it ignores the facts. Our problem has never been our lineup this year: its always been our pitching. And Bard is part of the problem.
  6. What credible lineup? The bottom four in their lineup tonite are hitting .223/.206/.143/.059. They had a popgun lineup out there and Bard still struggled. He continues to walk too many batters and does not possess putaway stuff, an "A game", or command of any sort. A real baseball lineup would have put him away in 2-3 innings. Bard is not a SP. Its time to sign Roy Oswalt and gradually get Bard back where he belongs as soon as Oswalt is ready to pitch.
  7. Lin and Podsednik, of all the players in the world, won this game for us.
  8. NICE PLAY PEDEY! Won the game we had to have.
  9. TWO MORE GODDAM OUTS PLEASE....
  10. No drama here please Aceves...
  11. You gotta drop Gonzales down in the order soon, right? I am not so sure he is going to "come around" this year. Maybe he is just having an off year. Guys stinking up the place like he is do not hit cleanup.
  12. This crap with Gonzales is really getting disgusting. Hope he enjoys his hefty paycheck that he is not earning
  13. The Jays have tied up the Rays at 4 now.
  14. That was strike 3. More crappy umpiring
  15. I don't think he pitched last night....oops
  16. Is this four games in a row for Aceves?
  17. We cannot afford to blow this game.
  18. I think that part of it IS mental. A SP most likely is mentally ready to throw multiple innings, more so than a reliever who is used to going maybe one inning plus. I would have no problem with Padilla, for example, pitching two+ innings, but I would not want to see Morales, Hill, or many of the other RP do that.
  19. Ummm...the Jays are also ahead of us. They have to lose too.
