  1. Pedroia is overmatched. He should be on the DL. He isn't the same hitter. And when was Gonzalez's last HR? Anyone remember?
  2. Now lets see what OUR team is made of. They got three. How many will WE respond with?
  3. You just cannot be walking guys. We are going to have a tough time getting even one more run tonite.
  4. One or two more will seal it.
  5. Pathetic. Your team gets two. You give up three.
  6. Red Sox pitchers just have a tough time shutting the door after we score runs, especially Lester.
  7. That game isn't already over. The Orioles have already lost their game in the second inning. We are behind them too. In fact, we are behind everyone.
  8. Huge hit. Gotta play with the lead against pitchers like this.
  9. No reason for Youkilis to be playing tonite, none at all.
  10. Youkilis is overmatched here.
  11. Lots of the Nats are hitting below the Mendoza line. Pretty insipid lineup.
  12. This guy is going to be very tough to score against. Doubront can't allow more than a run or so.
  13. Not here dude. Bard is persona non grata in my book right now. If and when he ever makes it back to the ML lets talk about him then. What a douchebag.
  14. Cleanup hitter with an OPS of .668..hmmm.
  15. Just gotta take two this weekend. Lose the first one and that will be tough, just like against the Orioles.
  16. What? The Orioles got Strasburg?
  17. I live out here near the SF Giants and Oakland A's, and I NEVER hear of one of their players whining about being sent down or benched. They just take it and keep their mouths shut. There is something about being a member of Red Sox that seems to make a player feel like he is owed something by the management and the fans. Thats counterproductive if you want to win baseball games because it fosters a MEFIRST attitude that the other players are bound to dislike as many of them are also MEFIRSTS. It breeds resentment and individuality where teamwork is necessary to win. I suppose its possible to win with this kind of a prevalent attitude, but its a lot tougher and a lot less pleasing for the fans to watch.
  18. OK. Got it. Sorry. About Bard's big mouth: I believe that its unprofessional to publicly complain about decisions made in good faith by your superiors in this situation. I look at the New England Patriots as an example of a very professional organization. When did you ever hear a player complaining about a decision that Belichick made that he felt was good for the team although not good for the individual player? Its a tight ship there, and it should be a tight ship here too. Focus on playing your best, on the team, and on realizing that you are not in charge; thats the advice I would give to Mighty Mouth and Bard right now.
  19. This is exactly the kind of attitude that destroyed last year's team as well as teams in the past. 25 players; 25 cabs. I despise that kind of MEFIRST attitude. This is a team sport and no player's needs come first. Each player is accountable to his bosses, the manager and the GM (and others), just like a "normal" job. There is a chain of command. Bard obviously feels that he is entitled to a ML roster spot. Even if he is disapointed, he should be disappointed privately. His comments did not help his public persona, did they.
  20. All I am saying is that right now the Orioles are a superior team, based on their record. Your team is exactly as good as your record says you are. Who knows if the Orioles will fail this year? They might; they might not. They said that about the Rays the first year they became competitive; and the next year; and the year after that.
  21. Yeah. Lackey. I might think of others. And I never said that all knowledgeable fans agree with me. It is true that some knowledgeable fan agree with what I have posted; some do not. However, if you do not feel particularly knowledgeable about this, thats fine with me too.
  22. Unfortunately, I think that Bard's career is in serious jeopardy as a result of management's efforts to please his desire to become a SP and from the infection with the entitlement attitude that is apparently still present in the clubhouse. We all knew it would take Valentine some time to disinfect our clubhouse. Removing Bard, a cancer, is a good start to trying to resurrect what is left of his career. He will never be a starter. And the chances for him to be successful again as a setup man are highly dependent on a serious change in attitude.
