  1. Ummmm…TJS isn’t the only malady a pitcher can suffer. While younger pitchers may be a bit more susceptible to structural damage because of the emphasis on velocity older pitchers are more susceptible to fatigue and inflammation injuries. “The rapid decline for pitchers and hitters begins at age 30. Fangraphs breaks aging down in more detail. The decline for both pitchers and hitters accelerates at age 30.Feb 24, 2024” “
  2. Gosh! You're right! I guess that means he is less likely to get injured than Bello THIS year, despite the 10 year age difference.
  3. We weren't contenders. I was right on that. I said that Henry would miss out on top talent and with the exception of Suarez he did miss out because he is too cheap. Couldn't even sign Bregman, let alone Soto a year ago and Schwarber and Alonso this year. I am right much more often than I am wrong.
  4. I'm giving him one more year to shine. Not ready to give up on him or on Casas just yet.
  5. My suggestion of a Gray for Paredes trade was, as I mentioned already, a joke.
  6. If I had to choose who would have the better season, the better numbers THIS year I would pick Bello. Older pitchers tend to get injured more often. Comes with aging. Bello is my #3 this year; Gray is a #4 dumpster dive product of Henry's penurious (Brady doesn't like the use of "cheapskate") character. Watch and weep as the season again proves me correct.
  7. To contribute for the entire season I choose the pitcher who is 10 years younger.
  8. Gray is 36. Bello is 26. I do not believe we have seen the best of Bello yet. Gray on the other hand is over the hill, on the downslope. I think at this age there is a good chance he will spend a significant amount of time on the IL.
  9. I'd rank Bello just behind our ace and our new #2, ahead of Gray, who I do not trust. Gray is a fine #4 but no better.
  10. I was joking about trading Gray. He just got here and I think he will make the rotation better, though he is not a #2 SP. I wouldn't mess with our top pitchers, including Bello. I don't know what would fit for Houston in a trade for Paredes but it seems he would improve the offense-not enough to compete for a ring, but better.
  11. I'm not trading Bello. Trade someone else for Paredes. Sonny Gray?
  12. Well then, thats it! No need to play the actual games. Just award the rings to the FLOPS now.
  13. “The Boston Red Sox are acquiring catching prospect Nate Baez from the Minnesota Twins for utilityman Tristan Gray, sources tell ESPN.” Well this should certainly put us over the top!
  14. We also lost players, including Bregman,. Make sure you subtract their numbers too. We will be better, but not good enough to contend for a ring.
  15. Did we sign Schwarber or Alonso? Did we even resign Bregman? Unfortunately, they all still pertain.
  16. I prefer cheapskate. I think I will stick with that.
  17. Does the term bother you? I could use other words. “Miserly” ”Tightwad” ”Penny pincher” You choose
  18. Exactly! No one cares much about the rings the team has won with Henry as owner. Baseball is very much a "what have you done for me lately" sport, like most sports. We all know what the Cheapskate has done for the team lately, unfortunately.
  19. Did you know that Florence Griffith-Joyner holds that women's 100m sprint record? She has held it since 1988. Its also unlikely to be caught. Who cares what the FLOPS have done in the past. Resting on past achievements does nothing for the present. This team could compete nearly every year for a ring with a decent owner that is not a tightwad.
  20. The are pursuing players at a level below top notch. Sometimes even less. Think "Buehler", for example. Yes Henry has five rings but he seems quite satisfied with them. The fans are not. We deserve a team that competes for a ring nearly every year, and unfortunately that requires a new owner.
  21. I think Henry wouldn't MIND winning, but his top priority is making more money. Thats pretty clear. While I admit that this is his right as principal owner the fans have to adopt realistic expectations with Henry as owner: we will not win another ring with the current situation in place.
  22. Maybe a couple of wins better because we also added Contreras and Suarez. I think we will be better with Gray as the #3-4 SP. But we also lost players, Bregman being the most significant. So 2-3 wins better but not in a position to compete for a ring.
  23. I’d be optimistic had they signed Schwarber and Ranger along with the others they got. I don’t see this team as currently constructed as a real contender for a ring.
  24. We need a solid talented hitter. So I’d look at ERA+ as a good way to measure that. Paredes has a lower ERA+ I believe than Schwarber or Alonso. Had we signed Schwarber along with Ranger I’d look at that as a commitment to winning. Of course, that didn’t happen.
  25. We have a window to win a ring NOW IMO. By 2028 that may have passed. I would have preferred to capitalize on the 2026 opportunity. Instead we seem to be letting is pass us by because Henry won't pay for top talent.
