  1. You’re missing the point. So let me spell it out for you: this franchise has a history of making low ball offers to talented players then making a litany of excuses as to why the players they were “ interested in” signed elsewhere. I don’t expect that to change. And I don’t expect the Flops will win another ring as long as Henry owns the team.
  2. Right. like the “aggressive offer they made to Lester and more recently Soto and the rest of them. This assessment is a load of crap.
  3. I like it better than what we have now. But we still need more talent. I’d like it better with Ranger Suarez and Marte. But as you pointed out, Henry is too cheap. He doesn’t place a high priority on winning anymore.
  4. Not for top quality players-the kind that will facilitate contending for a ring in 2026. Just more dumpster diving, as usual. Marginal players, complementary players who could help once we obtain more talented players. Did you want to debate that fact?
  5. All the acquisitions are sure to put us in position to contend for a ring. Such an impressive group of top flight talent!
  6. Right! Because we have been so very active on the trade (and FA) market.
  7. Forgot about Contreras. He will help too, but after last year's improvement it was time to significantly improve the team so that we can legitimately contend for a ring. I am not seeing it-just excuses. Now there are several players still out there who can help (not Bregman at 5-6 years) but I am not hearing of any movement towards getting them signed. And the best ones are already gone. I am not happy about this either.
  8. Donovan isn’t going to put us over the top to contend for a ring. As of now we have…..Sonny Gray. This is a joke.
  9. Who then? I don't think we are getting anyone of significance. Henry is too cheap to pay up.
  10. This is a window we should not ignore. The building blocks are there. We have an ace and a budding superstar in Anthony. We have a gulp at SPing and OF and a decent farm to us as trade bait. And lots of $$ available if Henry would open his wallet. Our holes haven’t been addressed. idiots
  11. I answered it. The Jays, the Orioles, and the Yankees added talent and we added….Gray and Contreras, who will maybe keep us keep level with those teams, but no one who will help us get better than they are relative to last year. I don’t just want to match in place next year. It’s time to accept nothing less than competing for a ring.
  12. The Orioles improved their roster. The Yankees will be better this year because their ace is returning. The Jays got a better pitcher than Gray. And the Yankees and Jays started off ahead of the Flops. We had a lot of ground to make up. Gray and Contreras aren’t going to allow us to catch them. Basically we are wasting our window because Henry is too cheap to pay the top players. We haven’t even retained Bregman. We are not much better than we were last year. But our competition is.
  13. Who have we gotten this year by trade or as a FA of significance, someone who is a top flight player who can make a big difference? No one you say? Correct
  14. Some of these players will improve the roster. Most are meh. None of them will put us over the top to compete for a ring. Its obviously not a priority for Henry any more.
  15. Contreras will help the team, but the need for a good bat persists, along with the need for a #2 SP. I don't see us getting either need met. Furthermore, we haven't signed a 3B man yet. Bregman wants six years? Say what?
  16. I think they should get a very good bat and a #2 SP. I don’t care how they do it or if it costs a lot
  17. I’d be shocked if we got any of them. I think what you see now is what we have this season except perhaps for another retread dumpster dive.
  18. Generally in life you get what you pay for. Over the past several years Henry has spent his life dumpster diving for retreads rather than signing prime FAs like Soto, Schwarber, Alonso etc. They are gone now. Other teams that aren't so cheap paid what is necessary to obtain talent. Henry didn't. No, its not mandatory to fill the FLOPS vacancies with talented players. Its only mandatory if they want to compete for a ring. Guess that is no longer a priority.
  19. Nonetheless, in the FLOPS situation right now it was mandatory to pick up a couple of talented FAs (at LEAST) to fill the vacancies in our #2SP and power hitting bat, neither of which got accomplished. Those guys were out there. Now they are gone. But Henry was too cheap to pay for what was needed to make the team competitive during the current window. Like I said, this franchise has become an embarassing s*** show. Instead of improving on last year they at best marched in place and if they don't even sign Bregman they regress.
  20. You’re right! The management isn’t just cheap-they’re also incompetent!
  21. Look at the history of these sorry franchise! We aren't getting ANY of those guys. We will get a retread and a bunch of excuses, just like we usually get. Yes, they did good extending our ace and signing Bregman for a year. But who else have they really got, who of high quality, recently? This franchise has become a shell of what it should be. This is a BIG MARKET, not a budget team. Disgusting ownes; disgusting franchise.
  22. Great that Suarez and Valdez are still available! We aren’t getting them either. Too expensive for the cheapskate owner.
  23. Fred and Pumpsie….while two of me would be much better for everyone you need to choose one. meanwhile King just signed with the Padres. Not much left out there. I am more concerned about how bad we will be in 2026 than Francona’s or Epstein s resume. I guess this is the 2026 Red FLOPS. What a disgusting franchise….,
  24. Who’s Pumpsie? ”Over .500” is good enough for you? It’s not good enough for me. It’s mediocrity to me. Competing for a playoff spot nearly every year is good enough for me. We haven’t seen that.
  25. Its a tough job sometimes, but someone has to do it. Meanwhile, I have been right more often than wrong.
