  1. I’d settle for.780 IF too. Brady won’t take that bet either, preferring to complain about me not taking a sucker bet he proposed.
  2. .800 is fine. Up for it? If not don’t complain when I don’t accept your sucker bet proposal.
  3. I’ll help. It’s John Henry and yes, he is lining his personal pockets with the money he saved not only on Devers but the money he could have reinvested in player salaries to make the team more competitive. Profit over winning. That’s his right but he should be telling the truth. It’s not like he’s fooling anyone. Just be honest: “I’ve decided to reduce payroll to see if we can be competitive with a smaller percentage of revenue being reinvested in our players “. Easy.
  4. The point is that the money should be reinvested in player salaries if the owners aren’t lying about being serious about winning.
  5. I bet that we don’t get a IF with a career OPS of .800 or better to fill our glaring need. Up for the wager?
  6. Who is the majority owner of FSG?
  7. How much did he save by dumping Devers and where did it go?
  8. You must be referring to yourself. I proposed a wager. You declined to accept it.
  9. I’d also put money on us not acquiring the talented offensive player it would take to make us competitors for a ring-by any name
  10. He also pocketed most of Devers money. He pockets the difference between players traded and players acquired on a regular basis. Thats why we are 23rd in percentage of revenue spent on player salaries.
  11. Yup. I’ve consistently written here that it’s Henry’s right to prioritize profits over winning. Obviously that’s what he’s doing too. It’s why we will never win another ring as long as Henry owns the team.
  12. I think we both know the value.
  13. Yup. Too much for Henry in terms of $$$$ and prospects. We aren’t getting Donovan. I’d put money on it.
  14. I would call it a PROBABILITY, not a possibility. Unfortunately that leaves us with a flaccid offense. But maybe you are right-maybe the two roster spots will be filled with players of significance. I have not given up on the ability of Casas to contribute this year either. Its something that isn't talked about here much but I think his career OPS is around .800. If he can get and stay healthy......
  15. And Henry pockets the difference?
  16. They signed Contreras, Suarez, and Gray (as a lower tier SP, not a #2). I am fine with those moves. If they are done signing talent then I am not happy either. I doubt very much we will get Paredes or anyone like him. I suspect that we will get someone worse followed by another litany of excuses.
  17. Exactly! They show a lot of "interest" in good players but rarely sign anyone of consequence. The "more pop in the lineup" simply isn't going to be addressed, at least in the manner that would make us compete for a ring this year. Half assed job at addressing the needs of the team, as usual. Disgusting franchise. LIARS!
  18. Devers was a selfish "me first" schmuck. If he was told to play 1B then he should have done his best to obey that order. That was his job, to place the team above personal desires. Its what he was paid to do. I don't miss him at all.
  19. We aren't even getting Donovan. Too much for Henry to pay for. Think someone of the caliber of David Hamilton.
  20. That’s what it looks like to me based on the current lineup or by adding another irrelevant player.
  21. I didn’t say EVERYTHING he has done is bad. It’s not. But he isn’t good enough at his job, overall. I don’t think he’s done yet either. He’ll add someone else who is relatively insignificant in terms of making us a contender for a ring. Last year I was satisfied with the improvement-we made the playoffs. This year I want more than an early exit. fWAR is a guess for 2026. I want results judged by WINS, not calculations.
  22. He’s not good enough to have made this franchise competitive for a ring. Look, for example, at what he has NOT done this offseason. Maybe I expect more from the GM. Too many failures; too many lapses in communication and judgment. If they aren’t serious competitors for a ring this year he should be fired.
  23. I’m not “arguing with “ anyone, especially you since we are in agreement that a higher percentage of revenue should be spent on high quality players that can make this team competitive NOW. Henry has the resources. He’s pocketing too much of the revenue to support his lie that his priority is winning. The other half of this is that Breslow is incompetent at just about everything besides making excuses. He’s a master at that.
  24. Why shouldn’t the fans expect more from an owner who supposedly is committed to winning? Hey-if Henry is more committed to fattening his wallet than winning he should at least he should be honest about it.
