  1. You are satisfied with "league average". I am not. If we didn't already have a bunch of black holes in the lineup it would be fine if Rafaela were league average. But we do..........
  2. I hope I’m wrong about this but I expect that this flash in the pan that Rafaela has shown us will melt into the usual incompetence with a bat in his hands by September at the latest.
  3. Show me where I said it’s “stil early for other teams”-or admit you made it up.
  4. That is THE issue. The cheapskate owner tried to build a team on the cheap-and the current version of the FLOPS is a testament to that failure.
  5. How many times do I need to write the same explanation??? It isn't a case of Alonso OR Contreras. Its a case of Alonso AND Contreras. Yes, that means we would have to dump someone, likely Yoshida. But we would be a much better team that way.
  6. Every player who takes up a roster spot is taking it in place of another player. In the case of Gaspar, IKF, and the bum Durbin their roster spots could have been used by Schwarber, Alonso, Bregman, or Bichette. Not all of them, obviously, but its pretty clear to anyone who thinks about this rationally that we signed bums to be on our roster rather than more talented and MORE EXPENSIVE players. THAT is a fact.
  7. I expect players like Schwarber, Bichette, and Alonso will come somewhere close to their career averages, especially their averages over the past three years or so. While I am pleased that Rafaela seems to have improved I am in a wait and see mode with him. I expect that as the season progresses he will lose the shine he has now. The trio of BUMS we signed instead of signing more expensive more talented players will continue to SUCK. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that line of thinking. It is totall rational.
  8. What “flaw” is that? Getting more talented players than the bums Henry got on the cheap is always a good idea if you want to be competitive.
  9. The jury is still out on Bichette and E Suarez too. The season is early (but not too early to state that the Flops are already dead in the water)
  10. Brady doesn’t read the Flops media articles. If he did he’d have to acknowledge that nearly every media outlet had Bregman as the number one target, whether you agree with that position or not.
  11. Nice rant. But it ignores the fact that bums like IKF, Gaspar, and Durbin are on the roster and more talented players like Schwarber, Alonso, and Bregman are not. BresLOW is incompetent. The end result is another last place team. Enjoy it
  12. This would have been a great year to go for gold. We have our ace. We have Ranger and other good SPing. We have a stud in Anthony though he’s off to a slow start. We have a great setup man and closer in the pen. Had Henry spent on the pen and obtained a couple of very good offensive players (they were available) we could have made a deep run in the playoffs. Instead he urinated away that chance by once again going cheap and signing bums and also-rans. You don’t waste opportunities like this when you have the basis for a very good team. Unless of course your priority is to make as much money as possible and screw the team and its fans.
  13. Apparently it is for some here. Good thing there are astute fans like you and me here 😉
  14. IKF is on the roster. Schwarber is not. I think I made my point.
  15. You like the Gasper signing? How about the signing of the other train wrecks, IKF and Durbin instead of Schwarber or Alonso or E Suarez? I don’t. And I’m right! The proof is their record.
  16. Henry knows exactly what he is doing. If he can still attract a full park while spending less he makes more money. He referred to the franchise as “an asset” rather than a team. And that’s the way he treats it: a money making machine, all the while lying to the fans about his priorities. He thinks he’s fooling us, but astute fans see right through his lies. Mind you I’m not claiming he doesn’t have the right to make as much money as possible from his franchise-but we have the right to call him out on it too. And lately the media has been doing just that. Good for them!
  17. Thanks Maybe we would still suck if we had added Schwarber or Alonso, but it would have demonstrated that the cheapskate owner was at least trying to win. The way it worked out it demonstrates that he’s in it only to make the most money possible while lying to the fans about his priorities.
  18. By the end of the year Bichette will have outperformed Durbin, who is terrible offensively.
  19. The stiffs are Durbin, IKF, and Gaspar. I would have been ok with Ranger+Contreras AND the other Suarez or Schwarber or Alonso. Less ok with Bichette or Bregman though even they would have been an improvement. All it would have costed is $$.
  20. Again: its not a case of Suarez/Contreras OR Bichette/Schwarber/Alonso/Bregman (preferably Alonso or Schwarber): all were available. Getting three stiffs? Not OK. So yes, Henry and BresLOW should go. All it would have costed is $$$. Henry is a billionaire and the team takes in a LOT of money. There simply is no real committment to winning.
  21. Bichette would have been an improvement over the three stiffs we ended up with. I would have been OK with Contreras and Bichette but I would have preferred Schwarber or Alonso instead. Just look at who we ended up with: three stiffs and a good but not a great player. The FO is too cheap to really make an investment in winning a ring. It will never happen again under Henry's watch.
  22. I would have been OK with signing both Alonso (or Schwarber or Bregman) AND Contreras and jettisoning Masa. His signing was a mistake. Time to cut the cord. Its not a case of Alonso/Schwarber OR Contreras. All were available. Instead we got Gaspar, IKF, and the stiff Durbin.
  23. I didn’t say that. I think the current players will likely come closer to their historical averages too. But it won’t be enough.
  24. Occasionally obtaining a few shiny toys would at least give the semblance that ownership is TRYING to compete. Right now there’s no such evidence: IKF? Durbin? Give me a break!
  25. No, you get rid of Yoshida. By the end of the year he’ll have reverted to what he is: a ground ball out machine.
