  1. I would be willing to bet that at least two of those three by the end of the year would be within 10 points of their career averages in OPS
  2. As others here have pointed out the major reason we stink this year is because the existing players are not producing. I contend that this is in part because they are demoralized that the FO didn't obtain high quality offensive players like Alonso or Schwarber, giving the roster a loud no confidence vote, saying "we don't believe you guys can contend this year so we are not going to spend the money to help you out". Its like that year after year with Henry the Cheap in charge.........and it won't change. The FLOPS are just another piece of his portfolio, there to make him more money. He couldn't care less about winning.
  3. Contreras is a good player and is making a positive contribution to the team. However Alonso is a more potent offensive weapon. He is having so far an off year for him but I expect he will end up somewhere near his career OPS. I prefer OPS+ as the single best metric to evaluate a player's offense; couldn't find it with a quick search. Henry was too cheap to sign Alonso and as usual he lost the bidding war.
  4. Alonso has a career OPS of .857. How many FLOPS players have an OPS of .857 this year? Alonso will end up the year close to his career average I am sure. Answer: one. Only Abreu. Compared to the wet noodle bats currently on the FLOPS Alonso IS elite. Too bad we didn't sign him, eh?
  5. BresLOW didn’t whiff on everyone he signed. But I sure expect a lot more from the guy responsible for constructing the roster. He’ll be gone at the end of the season-if he makes it that far.
  6. Batting .180 with no power. He’s Bregmans budget replacement.
  7. We can’t go to the well too often? Or what? We’ll end up in last place? Oh wait…..
  8. I predicted this team would finish 4th. They won’t make it out of the CELLAR.
  9. I predicted this team would finish 4th. They won’t make it out of the CELLAR.
  10. I think that AAV budget is a less important piece of data than percentage of revenue spent on salaries. The teams that don’t take in as much can’t be expected to spend like the ones that take in a lot of money-like the FLOPS. I haven’t seen an update to the data I posted showing that the FLOPS were 23rd in MLB in percentage of revenue spent on player salaries. I’d welcome an update. With all the $$ being taken in by tightwad Henry this franchise should be in the top five in this category nearly every year-if the cheapskate owner was telling the truth about his commitment to winning, which he isn’t.
  11. But that is not how he is behaving. He is treating the franchise FIRST AND FOREMOST as an addition to his portfolio-a money maker, without a real commitment to winning. Talk is cheap. I look at his actions, and its not pretty.
  12. Henry: "WBZ-FM's Mike Felger and Tony Massarotti on yesterday's “Felger and Mazz” reacted to Red Sox principal owner John Henry’s comments in a Financial Times profile on how he does not plan to sell the team. Massarotti said Henry’s comments highlight the frustrations of fans with ownership, as the team is “nothing more than an ‘asset’” and all ownership is doing is “playing math.” Massarotti said Henry’s assessment that MLB is a “one in 30 league” is not accurate. Massarotti: “There aren’t 15 teams in baseball that can win the World Series. The problem now is that you’re not one of the 10 that can.” WBZ's Jim Murray said that fans do not “realistically” expect to win a championship every year, but they “expect them to be competitive though.” Felger said compared to Henry, Celtics owner Wyc Grousbeck’s heart “is in the right place.” Felger: “He is genuinely a fan. He is genuinely invested in the product on the floor and he is genuinely willing to spend and cut into his margins when it’s time to do so and you should feel good about Wyc Grousbeck as an owner. I cannot say that about John Henry. I think the comment about we don’t sell assets is just so cold and so illustrates what the Red Sox are to him now, they are truly just an asset in the portfolio.” Massarotti: "If it's just a business holding, if that's all it is, well then, you know, them winning the championship is not going to be a primary focus” ( “Felger & Mazz,” WBZ-FM, 6/11)." https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/Articles/2024/06/12/john-henry-red-sox-comments/
  13. "In an email shared by the Sports Business Journal, Henry issued a telling response to the situation at the Red Sox. “Fans get frustrated. The Sox looked terrible for [their] first 25 games,” he wrote. “I remember a plane flying overhead when we were beating Manchester United 7-0 that read ‘FSG OUT!’. “It doesn’t mean you ignore them, it means you work harder – you don’t settle for mediocrity. You have to win.”" https://www.thisisanfield.com/2026/05/fsg-john-henry-red-sox-liverpool-fan-unrest-2026/ Lies.
  14. I understand that. The worst part is that he is lying to our faces about his commitment to win. His commitment is to make money. Thats fine; its "his ball". But at least he could be honest with us. FLOPS fans aren't stupid.
  15. He certainly didn't do enough to fortify the offense. We are 24th in runs scored, meaning only six teams in baseball are worse. The Rays are 13th on a much smaller budget. BresLOW needs to go. So does Henry.
  16. He ignored the offense too….he figured we could win on SP and defense. How’s that working out? BresLOW is a bona fide idiot.
  17. Time to turn the channel to watch the Pistons and Cavs basketball game
  18. I can count maybe a half dozen players I’d want on my team that that now play on the FLOPS
