  1. Please Pablo drive a run in!!! Atleast a sac fly
  2. Showing off that speed getting in there for a double. Keep it up Papi. Also in other news I think it should be noted that Johnny Gomes is traded to the 1st place Royals. The guy is always in the playoffs. DD should approach him and see if he will be a coach on the Sox then we may catch on to some of his beard magic and make the playoffs year after year.
  3. I like this idea as well. DD is on record of saying if Bucholtz is healthy he would be a good signing at his team option price. But who knows if he gets healthy anytime soon. I like the idea of Price but still I think he is Chicago bound next year. He is the best of the bunch as far as FAs. But it remains to be seen if he wants to be in Boston. Maybe only an addition of Price is all this team needs for next year. Price, Bucholtz, Porcello, Kelly, & Miley is a good rotation. It allows all the kids to develop and if need be an addition at the deadline. I think it would let DD evaluate what he has instead of changing the whole mindset and moving the kids who definitely have major league talent.
  4. Well hell. Spoke too soon thanks for shattering people's good ideas behindenemylines.
  5. I actually like the way that sounds with the different alignment at home vs the road. I just hope JBJ can continue to hit.
  6. These last 3 games that I have been able to watch have been crazy and I'd never thought we woulda had a shot in any of them. Sale, Harvey, and deGrom it's refreshing to see.
  7. How? Is he gonna put him in the rotation or in front of a firing squad? Either way he gets shelled
  8. As much as everyone is talking about the Panda and Hanley cluster. I see the same in the starting staff as we speak now. Porcello, Miley, Kelly, Rodriguez, Wright, Owens, Johnson, and Barnes with a team option on Bucholtz Ok 1st off you can never have too much pitching. Porcello- will be here because his contract is soo great that the team would have to eat soo much that they will think let's see what he can do next year we will turn this around. Miley - he will be in the rotation because his contract pays him too much to be a reliever or a long reliever but as a #5 starter he has been decent as of late. Rodriguez - he has been the bright spot of the year and he should be the #3 or #3a of the depth chart next year. Kelly - either he moves to the bullpen or he gets gone for penny on the dollar... either you are all in or you are all gone Wright - I hope beyond hope that another team wants to add a knuckler to their team and he gets involved in a deal... either he's on or shelled their no in between with a knuckler... rather be gone than here but I'm not gonna fight anyone who has the argument that he was be a good bullpen piece. It us whatever it is with him Owens & Johnson- both could start the year off in AAA but as soon as an injury happens they should be bright up as #6 Barnes - move to the bullpen will be a very good chip there Bucholtz - here is the enigma to it all. Does DD think an injury prone pitcher with flashes of brilliance be worthy of his team option. I'm on the fence about him. I think this is a big move on DD part and if he does come back and pitch this year and does well he's here but if he stays on the DL I'd say DD declines the option and let's him find employee elsewhere. Additionally I see a pitching via Free Agency and most say it was a stupid sign because of the value and terms of the contract and it will be talked her on this board thousands of time over the next 5 or 6 years. If DD can move one of the contacts of Porcello or Wiley and have a better staff top to bottom then I will be impressed. He said he's not here to tear this thing totally apart but anyone who makes their money by throwing to opposing hitters should have a sense of urgency because I don't think anyone is truly safe.
  9. I agree. The sense of direction with the Hanley and Panda deals never made sense. I understand that during the offseason it was reports that both were being pushed by Papi to come here. Well if that was true fine but it was also reported just as of a few days ago that Papi asked for Nelson Cruz to come here. I know the PED stuff was bad light for Cruz but I honestly don't give a s*** about PEDs I care about wins and rings. I like to watch good baseball. And this season has been a cluster from the early stages. Koji has been awesome and hope he is next year. But I think another big back for the bullpen piece will be needed. Taz has been a workhorse and is bound to decline somewhat or injured. We need either to put Joe Kelly or Barnes or someone else interior or external to be the long down 7th, 8th, & 9th that the Royals have. But we have to have a starting staff that can get out of the 2nd inning before getting pulled after getting shelled. I'm gonna make a prediction that Bucholtz comes back and pitches a couple of games down the stretch to show DD that he needs to be back in Boston or DD may very well let him walk. I thought before Ben was gone he was a lock to come back next year but with a change in FO pieces his future might not be soo clear.
  10. Id say Price isn't gonna think about Boston. All the bad blood when he was at Tampa Bay and all the verbal fighting against him and Papi saying he showboated. I see him as a Cub. They have his college pitching coach and Joe Madden and he also likes the food in Chicago. I'd say Toronto makes a huge push and winds up 2nd in the Price bidding and drives the dollar amount out of this world
  11. I agree Jacko. I wish he could just move one bad contract for another bad contract and trade Panda to San Diego and get Shields. And sign either Cueto, Price, or Zimmerman and then you keep all the prospects and it's a win win. No Panda the team gets a pitcher and they save on airplane gas and fuel for the buses ridding themselves of Pandas fat ass.
  12. Not only will a GM be brought in, but what about manager? How long will Farrell be out for treatment? Will DD want to put a whole new mindset in the dugout? What will the fallout be if he does move on from Farrell will the media backlash overshadow the offseason acquisitions and put more spotlight on him being heartless? A lot of questions have just emerged with the signing of DD. The offseason just now got real interesting.
  13. Was it ever proven that Papi used steroids or is he in the same boat of blame as Jeff Bagwell? No proof but they done too well not to use
  14. Fire Farrell Sign Chuck Norris as manager we win 162 out of 162 games. The other team is too scared to win.
  15. I hope like hell they don't stand pat with what they have for next year. Ben keeps saying that the Sox are looking for young controllable arms. Well that just ain't happening if you don't rid the farm of high level prospects to get young guys. We supposed to have one of if not the best farms in MLB. Well that has yet to be seen at development of pitchers to come to the major league level. We need to look to get a minor league coach from the A's because it's apparent they know what they are doing. Also I like Owens and ERod but I don't think we build around them. Plus so many of the young controllable types will cost a haul in minor league talent and Ben & company have shown that they don't want to give up talent. A total change of mindset will have to be submitted at the start of the 2016 campaign if we are to contend next year. The rotation and bullpen are tops and we have to address the lineup and figure out if Hanley or Panda will be in another uniform next year. I think from now to the end of the year they need to make a decision at 1B. If Hanley don't want to move there and if he can't play there then Panda has to go if theyd rather have Hanley's bat in the lineup. That's the biggest problem in my opinion with this lineup as it stands now. Their is no direction for the future we have 3 future DHs on this team now and all can't just play DH everyday. I like Hanley at 3rd instead of 1B and I think most on here does too. So power needs to come at 1B next year via trade or FA signing a platoon although smart doesn't seem like the right direction to me. And with Hanley moving to the infield that opens up a spot for someone in the outfield to go along with Betts and Castillo. So that will have to be addressed. But they will have to come as a result of who moves on from here. The starting rotation will have to get better and become respectable again. I think the mindset will have to change first and foremost and start spending and giving up talent to get it. Ben is signing and trading for his job in 2016 and I say John Henry opens up the pocket book this offseason and says spend spend spend. Atleast we all hope he does or we will be waiting for football to start like we are this year.
  16. Restructure Shields' deal to be more evenly spread out per year with a vesting option for an extra year to add leverage to get the deal done. Sign Davis to 6 year 108 million...18 per yr This 2 million more per year than Napoli I thinks it's worth it. Sign Zimmerman to 5 year 100 million.. 20 per yr I know you are gonna say that's too much for him but think of what Price and Ceuto will command. In this day and age that what contending pitching will cost. We wouldn't be having this conversation about Zimmerman if they hadn't s*** the bed with Lester. But that subject has been beat to death.
  17. I could see that happening as well or include Miley in the Padres deal to get rid of his contract and put ERod in the rotation. But as injuries do happen and we have seen with Bucholtz I think you really need 6 starting arms and that's why I have him in the pen to start the year. I think Miley will improve next year and the Padres would need a starter coming back to them so it may work. I just really like the idea of moving Panda most of all I don't care where he goes as long as it's out of Boston. Having Hanley Panda & Ortiz on the same team for 2016 it's smart in my opinion too many DHs aND only obe spot. I like the addition of Davis because he will add left handed pop for 2017 and beyond after Ortiz is gone. If 2016 is Papi's last I think they add pieces to contend for his last year. Their hands are tied to make big additions the FO won't stand for $200 Million for last place.
  18. Speaking of Reddick it was rumored that The A's dangled him at the deadline. Maybe a reunion could come to bring him back to Boston. Put him in RF, Castillo in LF and Betts in CF. That wouldn't be as far of a pipe dream as CarGo and Beane has shown he would deal with the Sox so I'd hope they'd explore it? I still see a trade with the Padres as the best trade partner. Move a lot of prospects plus Panda to get Shields and Kimbrel and maybe even Ross. Fill in the rest of the bullpen with whoever arms in the but the bullpen could be filled with arms from within as well. Sox get: Shields & Kimbrel Padres get: Panda and 3 top tier guys plus cash off of Pandas deal If Ross could be had in the deal all the better but I'd say that would ask too much Sign Jordan Zimmerman in the offseason to fill out the rotation. Rotation Shields, Zimmerman, Porcello, Bucholtz, & Miley Bullpen Layne, Kelly, Rodriguez, Barnes, Taz, Koji, & Kimbrel, plus the reliever they got from SF I can't think of this name Lineup Betts CF Pedoria 2B Ortiz DH Davis 1B Hanley 3B Reddick RF Boggey SS Castillo LF Vazquez C Bench Holt Craig Swihart One trade and 2 FA signing would take us from a complete rebuild and get us back to Championship contention I don't see this too much to ask from Ben. With the salary relief and the thought of not finishing last place again the FO will have to make a splash this offseason. I can't wait for the Hot Stove to start.
  19. Sign Chris Davis in the offseason. Trade Panda to Padres for Shields. Move Hanley to 3rd. Trade top prospects for CarGo to play RF. Boom!!! Great offense. Now all Ben has to do is add pitching. And we need 1 ace type. And that will be done via F/A so only money is gone and no prospects.
  20. SWING THE f***ING BAT SWIHART!!! Full count bases loaded and you look at strike three... that's 2015... ridiculous
  21. Swihart is really having a hard time catching Wright tonite. I hope the middle of the order mashes in the inning so we get a lead we will need it with a knuckler on the mound. It's just a matter if time before players catch on.
  22. How does work when a player is DFA and a team claims him? Doesn't the Red Sox still get something back in return, or can they just give him straight to them, or if the Red Sox pull him back he has to go on the 40 man roster I never was really sure how it worked
  23. Daniel Nava claimed by the Rays after being DFA by the Sox. Any thoughts?
