  1. I just see a need for a switch or LHH catcher as a big need to even out the roster. I hope Swihart is not as far away from the majors as reports suggest. A one year option to back up Vaz until Swihart is ready to take the helm is a definite need.
  2. ^agreed. We need an ace. Or a legit #2. We have rotation full of #3s who of healthy will provide a lot of innings. I like Hamels over Shields on the simple fact he is younger and is a LHP, his track record in interleague against AL east teams insist that in pressie but I honestly don't have faith in putting Big Game James on the hill in a game 1 of any series in the post season and feel confident that he will provide us good innings to position us for a win the take a series lead. I still think Ben has one more move for a legit starter and then he may add one bullpen arm like Sergio Romo. I like him as insurance for Koji. I'm not sure what kind of contract he will want tho.
  3. Ben has a man crush on Buch. He has said time and time again that he thinks Buch is an Ace caliber pitcher. I don't see him trading him for anyone. He sees him as the anchor of the staff. If the Phillies dropped their asking price to one top tier prospect instead of two I'd say the Hamels deal gets done. A lot of things have changed today and I don't think Ben is done.
  4. I hope that they trade for Hamels. Even if they pick up his option it's still 5/110. Which will be cheaper than what Sheilds will get on the open market plus the draft pick. We still need our #1. Today has started out fast and furious. Hamels, Porcello, Buch, Masterson, Miley. In Ben we Trust.
  5. I like the Miley deal myself. Just wondering der who the other minor leaguer will be. With the money saved on Lester I hope tomorrow brings us Shields and another trade for a guy like Hamels. What do you like Shields will get? I hope somewhere around 4 years at 90 plus a option for 5 at 110 total. I also seen a report that the Sox were close on Masterson on a one year deal. As a # 4 I don't mind it if it's true. Move Kelly to the bullpen/long relief/spot start when Bucholtz gets arm fatigue.
  6. We are about to acquire Wade Miley. Wait oh no we are not even talking to the D-Backs. I honestly thought that rumblings of Sheilds tobt he Red Sox would be the talk. But it's been surprisingly quite today.
  7. Well said Pal.
  8. f*** Lester.
  9. The Giants are out on Jon Lester. I'd say the Dodgers made the offer for 7 years. It's gonna come down to the Cubs and Red Sox. I think he comes back here instead of the Cubs. It's probably gonna be close to 160M. I think he wants to be here and he can win more Championships here than there. The meeting early tonite with the Sox FO is a good sign in my opinion. I'd say within the next two hours he will sign. They it will be a trade frenzy as soon as the announcement is made. I like the Masterson offer. At 2 years I like it. And a trade for a Porcello/Latos or the big fish in Hamels would be awesome. With the financial commitments the the up coming years the Sox could afford two aces in Lester and Hamels. Work your magic Ben. In Ben we Trust.
  10. Cubs and Giants are finalist for Lester per Ken Rosenthal.
  11. It's nice to see the red sox offered Miller 4 years. But it pisses me off to no end when we get out bid by the f***ing Yankees.
  12. With all that I still say Lester with get close or exceed the 150 million mark. I seen a report on here that the red sox had offered him a 145 number and I hope that is the case. But if they do lose out on Lester I hope they go all in on a trade for a legit #1 like chris sale and sign James Sheilds and then a trade for another 2a or 3 pitcher like Jeff Samardzija. A rotation of Sale, Sheilds, Samardzija, Bucholtz, & Kelly wouldn't look too bad. Given it will take a ton of top tier prospects to land Sale, but I'd rather have a young cost controlled Chris Sale in Boston than an aging Jon Lester anyways. But whose to say if Sale will be available. The ChiSox may think they can make a run this year and without Sale they don't have a rotation for s***. This is Boston tho. They have addressed the hitting issue and they will address the pitching as well. This year's Winter Meeting will be interesting from the opening gate. And I plan on tivoing every minute of it.
  13. The f***ing Dodgers are at it again. Lester will get 160+ or maybe a 7th year. I figured the Yankees would get involved but the f***ing Yankees of the west come in at the last minute to trump everybody. Only hope we have is just that Lester wants to be here.
  14. What day is Lester suppose to visit the Giants this week? And does he have any other teams scheduled after that?
  15. I know we have a ton of options for the outfield but injuries do happen. I would hope that Ben will hold onto Cespedes until the trade deadline. SBF examples of the Dodgers having 4 outfielders was a jog jam well what if one would went down, then they would have just enough. I think Allen Craig should move for a reliever. And I'd tell Vic if he wants to stay here he needs to hit LH again to balance the lineup. I hope the Jays let got of Dioner Navarro to be the backup cather. He has power and it's obvious weigh issues is not an issue in Boston the bigger the better apparently.
  16. Victorino CF Pedroia 2B Ortiz DH Cespedes RF Hanley LF Sandoval 3B Napoli 1B Boegarts SS Vazquez C
  17. Damn Pal you must have an inside contact. Where are you getting your info. I haven't seen any rumors at all today regarding Lester.
  18. Where did you read that? I think all the FO has to do is have an option for a 7th year with a buyout that would put him back in Boston hopefully. But it's good they are staying competitive with their offers.
  19. The Sox are gonna have to go to the 140 range and get it done quick. Lester is supposed to go to San Fran and meet with them next week. This if you are in I'll meet with ya and keep everyone else waiting to drive the price up is nerve wrenching. He might as well have Borax as his agent as well. Brain Cashman is probably having Thanksgiving dinner at the Lester Household this year. The longer it goes and more and more teams get in the more I think we are gonna get outbid. I just hope if we lose the bidding for Lester we get Scherzer no matter what.
  20. They have been under the luxury tax limit for the last couple of years. Maybe the FO blows past it this year with little penalty. With soo many coming off the books after 2015 why don't they just keep Cespedes to man RF after Vic is off the books next year. I really don't like the idea of letting him go for pitching. Given we need it more than anything right now. I would rather trade prospects than trade Cespedes who could thrive in Fenway & put up huge power #s. Also with Stanton locked up for years in Miami I see Cespedes as our cornerstone power bat for years to come once they sign him to a multi year deal next offseason. But we have to make a run this year with him and allow him to mash in a sox uniform. I'd rather trade Craig and clear that money than get rid of Cespedes.
  21. The notion of betting the farm on a kid with 52 games of major league experience is ridiculous to me. He had a hot streak and that was all. He is a 2B that last year's team plugged in anywhere because he was the only shining light after the trade deadline. XB, Holt, & WMB all cooled off. And so will Betts. If he had Ellsbury speed and Jackie Bradley defensive range I would say yeah keep the kid because his bat does play as an on base guy at the top of the order. But he don't have elite speed or elite OF defense, (given its not his natural position) I hope they roll him to bring in pitching and use him in the trade instead of our pitching prospects. I'd rather trade Betts than Owens anyday.
  22. Not true User. I like him in the fact that his value is up and a team will trade a legit pitcher for him and then get burnt when he starts sucking.
  23. I'd say you are right 700 about both being involved in a trade in the next few days. I like that rotation. I just hope they keep Cespedes in the fold for the start of the season and see just how good this offense can be.
  24. I would do Vic Pedroia Ortiz Cespedes Hanley Sandoval Napoli Castillo Vazquez
  25. I hope that even with the two signings of Sandoval and Ramirez that the Sox keep Cespedes until the trade deadline just to have the masher in the middle of the order. Let Bogey start off in AAA and let Hanley play SS until Cespedes gets moved midseason. But I also feel that Ben has some big moves in store for some pitching
