    Yeah, you have Drew play 2/3rd of the time at SS, WMB 2/3rd at 3rd and Xander playing 1/3rd at each.

    I agree with this. If just a few things go wrong next year we could go from a plethora of pitching to being in trouble. And being in trouble with pitching has as much chance of shaking the confidence of Xander and Bradley than anything else seeing that they would then HAVE to produce.

    No Im not. Look at the fingers, the most important stat of all. Sure Randy Johnson could have done the same thing or better if they switched places but he also could have messed it up. In other words why mess up what worked. Theres a slew of examples of the supposed talented people not showing up when it counts. Look at Kershaw.

    Also about Lester is that when you win championships, in theory, future championships come easier than for non-champions. For instance Verlander is more talented than Lester but I have just as much confidence in Lester in the big moments. Another instance is if you were the Yankees would you trade Pettite for Randy Johnson one for one? I wouldn't, because Pettite has such a great track record in the big moment.

    Thats what I see. Give the guy some MONEY. I like the Red Sox's tight wad ways but what works, works and the front office, I believe, values that and will show that like they did Pedroia. 15 million? Might as well offer nothing and save on energy because thats an insult.

    I didnt see much either other than my aforementioned possibility of Juan Pierre, a pick I still dont discount because the back-up cant be so good that he's more valuable than Bradley. Or can he, maybe we should get someone better than Bradley and have Bradley be the back-up. Or get a RF'r like Nelson Cruz and have Victorino and Bradley platoon.

    I like Nava and think he needs to play as much as he can. I think his value at the plate overshadows his shortcomings in RF. But also he may improve in this area over last year.

    Quintin Berry anybody? His numbers in Detroit weren't terrible the year before last. The stats that stood out to me is the 21 SB's in 94 games. Add to that a 330 OBP and its something to consider. He was a CF'r though don't know how good.

    For one thing, the postseason performance trumps it because he rose to the occasion when it mattered, something stats cant measure. But more than that, its not just this postseason performance, he was great before the Valentine adventure. Look at the age, look at the clutch, look at his love for Boston. Sign, sign, sign. We'd be mad not to IMO.

    Something to consider, true, but to counter that, he was a CF'r for awhile, he's probably still fast, he's dedicated, probably still hungry, and as I said a good character, and the best part is that he'd only be a backup. The conundrum in the Bradley deal, IMO is that if Bradley is going to be the CF'r, he needs a buffer to transition him but not a buffer so talented that its a waste to have both. Its definitely more ideal to have them on batting on different sides of the plate but as I said, slim pickin's. Maybe a trade is in order.

    I agree about getting another CFer to help break in Bradley. What about Juan Pierre? Unfortunately he bats the same side as Bradley but he's mlb's currently playing leader in stolen bases and the year before last had a 307 BA. I also think he's a good character guy and could be a bargain. Its definitely slim pickings in the free agent market.

    I agree about Lester and am sure the front office feels the same way. He's proven himself time and again and he's only 29. Its a no brainer. Having said that I still think we need one more above and beyond our prospects because chances are one of our starters won't be what he was. Im not saying we should get Tanaka nor am I saying we shouldn't, just that I feel we need another talented but young-ish arm

    I will pray like the dickens for Bradley to succeed. I like the kids manner and patience at the plate. Him and Xander are who I hope really shine. If they do our future will be bright, bright, bright.

    If the Sox were to pay alot of money to one player, Id like him to be a pitcher. Having said that, alot of Japanese pitchers, even Darvish, have these bad habits of being too fancy, or always trying to pitch the perfect pitch and end up getting in trouble. Matsuzaka was certainly like that.

    Yeah I remember good ol whats-his-name. I thought it was a mistake too. He reminded me of another Victorino, small but tough.

    How a person can go to the Yankees after having the chance to be immortalized in Boston is beyond me. Especially with Ellsbury signing so quickly. I mean I can understand not resigning with the Sox but he could have made good money in a number of places, places that wouldve won probably.

    Maybe but all eastern teams still have the upper hand in that they come on before its time to go to bed. A big reason why the Yanks have such pull I bet.

    Yeah for 130 million 7 years. He was offered 7 years 140 million by the Yanks and he turned it down. Not complaining mind you but is interesting

    I like to get Drew because while we have all these question marks coming into the season like Bradley, Bogaerts, and Middlebrooks and whether he's as talented as his potential, Drew is someone we know what were gonna get and I think thats important. Yeah its only probably going to be a year or two, what with the Bogaerts/Cecchinni left infield of the future waiting its turn, but until then we have someone solid at SS.

    What little I saw of him made him seem tentative. Sure he was trying to be disciplined at the plate but after awhile it seemed like he was letting great pitches go by and swinging at the bad ones. He also seemed vulnerable inside.

    But how much of that was Selig vs luck? Did he have alot to do with getting people to like baseball? I got into baseball because I got tired of football and basketball's BS, like all the chest thumping. Im sure Im not the only one. To me Selig is merely the guy who made the stupidest rule in all of sports in that the winner of the allstar game gets home field advantage. The Rangers, my second favorite team, has been screwed by that rule twice. And I also don't like Selig because he probably encouraged PED use and now is acting like its such a terrible thing.

    Im not sure about their second base situation, just the new guy, Brian Roberts. But if there is one difference in Yankeeland its no more George Steinbrenner. Maybe his son doesnt have it. But at the same time, since the end of their nineties heyday, the only strategy they had was to get the best player in the league. Not alot of thought going on there.
