  1. Great game. Especially glad to see XB homer. As for getting another hitter, Id only want one if he buys into our system.
  2. Closer a non issue? I dont think so. Weve been lucky with Papelbon and now Uehara, we could just as easily run into a bad streak of not finding a good one.
  3. But now he says he wants to wait til the end of the season. Is this a sign that he wants to make them pay for not doing it sooner? Or is this him thinking this team is worse than he thought they would be? Or is this as he says, not the time because hes trying to concentrate on pitching? Id like to think the latter and also find somewhat likely in that hes thinking it might bring bad luck to do it while hes hot.
  4. If this recent winning trend continues I doubt theyll be any trading. If there is itll be to get even younger and to basically throw in the towel.
  5. Career year yes but hes always been solid and hes still fairly young, sign him.
  6. I thought he was going to be the kind of guy you hate if hes on the other team but love him when hes on your team. What I didnt understand though is why they got him with his lack of patience at the plate.
  7. I was disappointed that Salty left, however I understood it as well as Pierzynskis hiring because it was about the prospects. I am glad though that Vasquez is up and now weve got a badass defense. Hope he does well at the plate but more than anything want good D and pitch calling.
  8. Im just going to wait and see. Im tired of my hopes yo-yo'ing.
  9. More than anything its been our lack of hitting w/RISP, thats it. That sounds like a psychological problem. Stats are all good and well but they dont explain team play and we had that in spades last year and thats why we look like we overachieved.
  10. The only fact is that we're WS Champs. Look up the word "fact". As a Yankee fan of course youd like to say that last year was a fluke and this year is more like reality. I think alot of this is in our heads and we're severely underachieving. How can we beat the Yanks two out of three in Yankee Stadium and then get swept by the Cubs at home? However I do agree about the timing of getting Drew was off.
  11. If the Astros experiment turns out to be successful in the next couple of years, would we have wished we wouldve stayed on course with the same plan? Look at the A's. Its a youth movement, all we're doing is committing to it sooner rather than later. Resign Lester though, hes still young enough to come out the other end of the movement and still be effective.
  12. Sorry guys but Im encouraged by todays game. Lately the offense has been picking up and its the pitching that has let us down. This tells me that the talent is there we just have to get on the right page. We have to stop pulling the chord and get that lawnmower running.
  13. So wheres the proof or theory that says that moving a player to another position affects his batting? Theres alot of feeling going around here disguised as fact.
  14. Im not sticking up for the overreactors who constantly fly off the f***ing handle but lets face it, this sucks big time! And if we were Mariner fans it wouldnt be as bad because our expectations wouldnt be so high.
  15. Drew is not the reason for our failings. Having said that signing him WHEN we did, if this doesnt turn around, will look bad on Cheri-baby. At the time we were in our first losing streak and yes, something needed to be done but getting Drew then and not in the beginning of the year seemed desperate and we rewarded Drew and punished XB for Drew not taking QO.
  16. The backup plan was supposed to be Sizemore but... Anyways though I think we have to get used to the fact that we're on a mission to get young and not spend. The plan might be that we're not going to see the true effect of not signing Ells for a couple more years until we find out what we have in the farm system.
  17. Sooner. The way this season is turning out, we got nothing to lose by seeing what we got in our prospects, especially with the success of De La Rosa and Workman.
  18. I have to give Cherington some slack in that winning the WS has tied his hands somewhat. We arent supposed to be one of the top teams, we are supposed to be rebuilding. If we hadnt won we mightve fielded a more prospect heavy team, as it is though we're trying to be both a contending team and a rebuilding team and its not working.
  19. Hopefully so he can figure it all out. I think they want to give him all the time in the world to do it, even if it means sacrificing parts of the season if not the whole season. Hope the strategy works in the end.
  20. Well f***ing said. Thanks for sticking up for him, surprised you had to.
  21. Well if there is such a thing as clutch it WOULD be hard to prove statistically but then again its just as hard to disprove it too. I just believe Ortiz is more clutch than A-Rod. I also believe that Jeter is more clutch than his talent would indicate.
  22. Im not sure what it is but I certainly believe some players are clutch while others arent, and its not luck. Not everything is physical skill. Alot of it is mental, be it a better understanding of the situation or a level of relaxation or confidence.
  23. I seem to be confident that if JBJ gets on, hell cross home plate.
