    Hart is an Arizona guy. From what I have read I don't think he wants to play on the east coast. His right handed power would be interesting in Fenway. How is his D and does he strike out as much as Nap?

    $310 million is a joke! Cano will stay with the $pankees because no one else is going to pay him anything close to what he is asking for. I hope they do give him a ten year contract which turn into another Arod contract.

    I have heard that the Sox have a multi-year offer to Nap, and he has said he wants to see what is out there. The Sox in turn have quickly become interested in Carlos Beltron. A Sox signing of him would end Naps stay in Boston. It is amusing to see both sides find a way to use signing elsewhere, or signing someone else against each other.

    With the SP depth the Sox currently have I can't see them bidding for Tanaka. After the Sox signed Dice-K they had 100 million invested in him. Can't see them doing that again.

    His low cost and versatility will keep him in Boston. If JBJ works out and Nap comes back then Nava again platoons in LF with Gomes . If Nap leaves Nava could play 1B and the Sox could get a corner OF bat. Beltron rumors have been out the pass few days. Could be the FO letting Nap know that they are looking elsewhere. Because if Beltron signs then Nap is done in Boston.

    Nava's versatility and low cost makes him very important to the Sox. Can play LF, RF and 1B and switch hits so I don't see the Sox moving him.

    I'm prepared that Ellsbury is leaving, and would be surprised if he comes back. He has been on two championship teams and now will probably looking for the biggest pay day possible. If Seattle is the front runner then they also have an added plus that Ellsbury is from Oregon. I think JBJ will be given every opportunity to win the CF position. Defensively he is on par with Ellsbury, but he isn't a lead off hitter with tons of speed.

    Read something today with Pedrioa saying he wanted to talk to Ellsbury when he gets back to Arizona. I got the idea from the article that Ellsbury likes his situation in Boston and the players he was playing with. It would have to take a hometown discount and its a long shot, but Ellsbury coming back is not off the table. Granted it is probably less then 5% chance, but who knows stranger things have happened.

    With the possible loss of Ellsbury, Victorino's role with the Sox may become even larger. At worst he is your RF in April, or he could be in center if JBJ still is not ready or if the Sox make a play for a big corner outfielder bat.

    What? I still don't understanding NL fans wanting to see a pitcher bat and strikeout 9 out of ten times. How many pitchers get hurt either hitting or running the bases? Just adopt the DH and get with the times.

    Sox biggest needs with their everyday players is at 1B and at catcher. Unless some blows him away with a crazy offer I think Napoli will be back. Because of his power numbers from the right side and his ability to play 1B effectively I think the Sox are comfortable bringing him back. Catching is a little different. The two names I'm hearing are McCann and Ruiz. McCann / Ross worked well together in Atlanta and McCann would be an upgrade defensively. Ruiz would be a bridge signing until the Sox think either Vazquez or Swihart are ready for the show. Salty is still a long shot, but I think he gets a bigger offer else where then the Sox are willing to pay. Depth starting pitchers and bullpen arms are also needed.

    With six starters coming back, and 2 or 3 minor league starters ready for a shot I don't think the Sox go after Tanaka. If BC goes after any starters it will be veteran pitchers coming of an injury that can be signed short terms on the cheap. It will low risk high reward signings. Someone like a Tim Hudson.

    Timely hitting during the regular season is different then timely hitting during the post season. If you looked at the Sox stats for many of the players for the post season their numbers don't look that great, but there where many that had clutch hits some time during the playoffs.

    Of the 5 or 6 pitchers in the high minors that are knocking on the door the Sox will be probably lucky if one or possibly two become productive major league starters. You can never have enough experienced major league pitching and those assets need to be used wisely. It doesn't take much for pitching to go south and you end up with a 2012 season.

    WMB will get another season to prove himself. The Sox have Cecchini in the high minor leagues, and though he doesn't have the power of WMB he is probably going to be a much better all around hitter. He will probably ready in 2015 and will push WMB to be better or out of town.

    Timely hitting and good pitching will win a lot of games. The Sox road that to another World Series championship.

    Victorino's gold glove defense, timely hitting, and his good teammate makeup was a vital part of the Sox success this season. Moving forward, with the likely loss of Ellsbury Victorino may have to take over the lead off spot. If Ellsbury leaves, JBJ will open up in center, but if he struggles Vic is an option to move over to CF. I liked the signing last winter, and the 13 mil seams like a bargain now.

    As hard as it is to repeat I could live with three championships for every ten year period. Remember the beginning of the last century the Sox dominated with multiple championships. Hopefully, the beginning of this century repeats itself.

    It was debated during the season if the Sox had an ace. An during the season the answer was always a no. We had a bunch of twos and threes. During the playoffs Lester elevated himself to ace status. The Sox should be looking to lock him up past 2014. He is home grown, a lefty, has been part of two championships, and is a work horse for the staff. He pitched some big innings this playoffs. He shined in front of the bright lights of the World Series. You can make the case he should have been the MVP.

    I agree! I don't think its the $$$$ as much as it is the years. Ellsbury and Boras are going to want 6 or 7 years at some number around 20 mil a season. For the Sox the 20 mil a year wouldn't be the problem, but they would only want it for three years. So I would say that its 95% certain that Ellsbury has played his last game for the Sox. Being part of two championship teams Ellsbury will always have a place in the hearts of Red Sox Nation.

    Love to have Ellsbury back in 2014, but I think the $$$$ will be too high.

    I loved the signing of Victorino! The guy proved in Philadelphia that he was a gamer who could produced in the bright lights of a big baseball town. The 13 million this year was a bargain. Gold Glove RF, decent offensive stats at the top of the lineup, and a good club house guy. Even when he isn't hitting he finds away to do things that helps the team win. There was some who wanted BC to sign Swisher to play RF. I don't think the Sox are 2013 Champs with Swisher in RF.

    Talent wise the 2004 and 2007 teams were more talented and we expected them to win. This year's team was special because no one had them doing what they did. I think most Sox fans would have been happy if the 2013 team was competitive and was in the hunt for the playoffs. What amazes me the most is that they won the World Series without 100% Buchholtz. I didn't think they could do it. The bottom line is I look at these THREE championship teams as my children, and I love them all the same.

    He didn't make too many wrong decisions in the past year. Cher's team won a championship that no one thought they would win. General Manager of the year in my eye.
