  1. Make it easy on yourselves boys - dig up the "monster" and prop him up out there. We could use a dose of what Mr. Radatz had when he was on top of his game.
  2. I'm still on the "Kimbrel is coming back to Boston" train.
  3. If we abided by that philosophy here Moon, no one would be clamoring for us to sign Bucholtz. I kind of agree though. I would be very upset if this team even thought about bringing Hanley Ramirez back into the fold. Sometimes the dead wood gets left behind.
  4. I don't disagree with this at all. In an effort to discredit a very successful man though, now we hear suggested that it is DD and not JH who doesn't want to spend the money . Lame joke .
  5. Really - silly me - I don't see it that way at all.
  6. I think that most people do. The real minority voices in New England will find fault with what ever gets done. If he signs a Kimbrel let's say well it was too much money and he could have gotten the same result cheaper. If he does nothing more than he has done, he is wasting a potential winning season to some. Signing a couple of late season and World Series heroes to some represented too much risk and too much money. The complaining voices tend to be very loud for sure but that is somewhat typical. He might get a few luke warm pats on the back from the resident know it alls but it is a pretty tough gig to come out of here a winner.
  7. Curiosity only here Moon but why do you think that Vazquez is the pick of our litter? I don't see it. I see absolutely no difference in the abilities of Leon and Vazquez. If the call was simply about which I felt was the better catcher, I go with Leon.
  8. It's amazing isn't it.
  9. I am a great fan of the Patriots program and the way they have consistently run it for so long. I actually think that the Red Sox in some respects have adopted some of the same philosophies. If I were an opponent, rather than hate what some might consider one of the greatest programs in the history of sports, I would try to copy it.
  10. ty - I enjoyed that article. i also enjoyed reading up on Sale a little as well. when he says that he has the whip back in that arm action, it bodes well for us heading to spring training.
  11. ...and that just seems to be the way it is these days. It still amazes me how that ballpark sells out game after game after game.
  12. It has been an interesting discussion here for sure. Personally I am a capitalist. Socialism in baseball is likely not going to work.
  13. Absolutely!!!
  14. So my question to the people thinking that the drinking incidents as well as the fried chicken and beer crap what about the 2018 team? What have you heard? I'm not saying that professional athletes don't do everything that many otherwise normal people might do but until we hear something to the contrary, I'm going to believe that once this past year's roster was settled, it looked to me like there wasn't a whole lot else other than video games and baseball going on. Personally I like that very much. I actually kind of like it when the teams I pull for are held to a higher standard.
  15. Also looks to me like in the eyes of the residing Yankee fan, all Yankees are totally free of any injury issues now and for the foreseeable future and that the future of the Sox hinges around the nearly decrepit arms of the majority of our pitchers.
  16. I don't think and I am certainly hoping that DD isn't done putting this year's version together. If he adds to the bullpen and if Sale and Eovaldi go into the season healthy, I would find it very hard to believe that the Sox would not be favorites to win the East once again.
  17. Lots of interesting rumors now being floated. I think that one of our catchers probably not named Vazquez would be gone already if the right had come along. Doesn't look as thought the intention is to go into the season with three. talk of extensions - Bogaerts, Betts, Benintendi, Porcello, and Sale - all names being mentioned by media. good news on the Chris Sale front with respect to the shoulder.
  18. oh baby - what is the word that your friends here to like to use with me when they are challenged. Very snarky there doc-
  19. Yup - ok - whatever you say.
  20. You aren't just a little hypocritical either are you? How could a person who has undergone Tommy John ever amount to anything? Remember - Eovaldi !
  21. I will add slasher that yes I am a little biased. Is it ok today to be biased or does that automatically make me a racist or a bigot or whatever? I freely admit that I'm not a big fan of Hanley Ramirez. If you want to think that it is because he wears his hair the way he does, you can. I might even have other reasons. I'm ok with my feelings. That being said, I still appreciated his athleticism while he was here.
  22. I know right. How awful of me. Oh well. You got your guys - I got mine. What can I say?
  23. I think that notin yes some times my comments could create a little confusion if people try to read too much into them. With respect to Benintendi my comments had a great deal to do with his size as listed compared to when i saw him play in Portland. He was smaller than advertised. Being a former athlete and coach, I don't see that comment as saying that Benintendi would not become a future star at all. Now with respect to the latest comments relating to Sale's immature actions of a few years ago, my response which I do not regret at all came as a result of a posters bringing it up in a serious manner and not simply to be humorous. Just me I guess but I saw it as petty and somewhat nasty. I think that Sale deserves better from us. I recognized what he did as somewhat immature but I have seen nothing from him since he came to Boston to indicate that he is anything but my type of player. He takes his craft seriously and by all accounts is a super teammate respected for what he is. Oh and if you hadn't noticed I don't mind at all adding just a touch of confusion here. Might be even what I do. I know myself pretty well and it is the few on here who are prone to condescension in their attempts to try to convince others that they know everything about everything that I likely won't hesitate to respond to. But you know what notin - seriously thanks for reading my posts and responding.
  24. I enjoyed watching them both Slasher. Two great great athletes.
  25. Look at that, silly me how could I ever have said Manny when i meant Hanley. You don't suppose it is possible that I think there were similarities between the two do you. How could i ever take such little cheap shots at true boston heroes. Oh well, there you go. Everybody is fair game I guess.
