  1. I don't think and I am certainly hoping that DD isn't done putting this year's version together. If he adds to the bullpen and if Sale and Eovaldi go into the season healthy, I would find it very hard to believe that the Sox would not be favorites to win the East once again.
  2. Lots of interesting rumors now being floated. I think that one of our catchers probably not named Vazquez would be gone already if the right had come along. Doesn't look as thought the intention is to go into the season with three. talk of extensions - Bogaerts, Betts, Benintendi, Porcello, and Sale - all names being mentioned by media. good news on the Chris Sale front with respect to the shoulder.
  3. oh baby - what is the word that your friends here to like to use with me when they are challenged. Very snarky there doc-
  4. Yup - ok - whatever you say.
  5. You aren't just a little hypocritical either are you? How could a person who has undergone Tommy John ever amount to anything? Remember - Eovaldi !
  6. I will add slasher that yes I am a little biased. Is it ok today to be biased or does that automatically make me a racist or a bigot or whatever? I freely admit that I'm not a big fan of Hanley Ramirez. If you want to think that it is because he wears his hair the way he does, you can. I might even have other reasons. I'm ok with my feelings. That being said, I still appreciated his athleticism while he was here.
  7. I know right. How awful of me. Oh well. You got your guys - I got mine. What can I say?
  8. I think that notin yes some times my comments could create a little confusion if people try to read too much into them. With respect to Benintendi my comments had a great deal to do with his size as listed compared to when i saw him play in Portland. He was smaller than advertised. Being a former athlete and coach, I don't see that comment as saying that Benintendi would not become a future star at all. Now with respect to the latest comments relating to Sale's immature actions of a few years ago, my response which I do not regret at all came as a result of a posters bringing it up in a serious manner and not simply to be humorous. Just me I guess but I saw it as petty and somewhat nasty. I think that Sale deserves better from us. I recognized what he did as somewhat immature but I have seen nothing from him since he came to Boston to indicate that he is anything but my type of player. He takes his craft seriously and by all accounts is a super teammate respected for what he is. Oh and if you hadn't noticed I don't mind at all adding just a touch of confusion here. Might be even what I do. I know myself pretty well and it is the few on here who are prone to condescension in their attempts to try to convince others that they know everything about everything that I likely won't hesitate to respond to. But you know what notin - seriously thanks for reading my posts and responding.
  9. I enjoyed watching them both Slasher. Two great great athletes.
  10. Look at that, silly me how could I ever have said Manny when i meant Hanley. You don't suppose it is possible that I think there were similarities between the two do you. How could i ever take such little cheap shots at true boston heroes. Oh well, there you go. Everybody is fair game I guess.
  11. No notin sorry you are wrong once again as you try to read things that you want to see into what I wrote. I'm actually not the kind of person who justifies poor behavior. Once again, simply for your benefit, when Moon mentioned the incident I think that it was meant to be humorous. Seems to me someone else wanted to pass judgement on him once again. Personally i think that that cheap attempt to create controversy was absolute ********. it would be kind of like me redundantly saying once again that I think Manny Ramirez was an idiot and that the team was much better off without him. I won't do that. I'm not going to judge him.
  12. when you brought it up it was funny! getting tougher to have fun these days. I'm still trying to figure out the list of words that I can and cannot say and who I can and cannot say them around safely! lol
  13. One of the reasons I will be disappointed if Dalbec gets dealt. A real athlete learning.
  14. Hopefully they put him where he can best help the team. I wonder what the people in Toronto are saying about their about up and coming star Vlad junior. He looks just about one and a half times the size of Devers right now. lol
  15. I understand that you are a medical professional but saying that anyone who is 6'0" tall and weighs 200+ pounds is overweight without knowing the necessary facts and stats is an arbitrary call that may or may not be right. You can post a very educated response I'm sure but sorry it won't be one that I buy. I liken it to a bmi test without further tests or even a cholesterol test that fails to mention good cholesterol.
  16. Once again notin here we go - no one said that it was anything but an immature act. I would simply say that anyone who brings that incident up at this point in time is someone who just wants to be heard. That is it. I tend not to support people who do that sort of crap and that is all that it is. Initially when moon brought it up, i recognized his comment fro what it was - humorous. Discussing it in any seroiuos manner in some queer little attempt to disparage him is just ********.
  17. You may be right in your judgement here but you may be wrong as well. I would hope that all professional athletes would have some exposure to nutritionists. i'm guessing that you have been around athletes for many years and that you know that we all come in different shapes and sizes. Assuming that someone is overweight using only their height and weight as criteria is really moving down a slippery slope.
  18. Who are we to judge right? I don't think that anyone watching from a distance liked what they saw with respect to that incident but I certainly know nothing about what led to it. I'm only basing what I know about Chris Sale on what he has given us since coming to Boston. To be honest with you, anyone who judges him based on that incident in a serious way is just one other person I don't really listen much to. No counters!
  19. I for sure don't know much about how the financials work but it seems to me that whoever is responsible for the current financial rules and regulations created to create parity or what some might think is fairness in ml baseball, really blew it this time. Rich owners have absolute reasons now for not over paying anyone. It is possible that maybe the Luxury taxes etc. etc. have given them what they have wanted. A legal means to collude and keep their market costs down.
  20. I couldn't agree more! I've said for quite some time now that that is one of the major things that pushed this team over the top and helped make them very special - good people!
  21. You know what, after watching Sale for the past couple of years it is obvious what motivates him. He is a throwback to a different era. A true warrior and a great teammate. I hope that he gets paid but I don't think that anyone here should assume for one second that the money is as important to him as it seems to be to some others. I bet he gets it. Even at his paltry salary, it is likely that he realizes that financially he and his family and their families that come after will be just fine. He is a winner and I think that lucky for us that is a primary motivator for him.
  22. In the post season, you need to do what ever it takes to win. if you have decent starting pitching it is highly likely that most of them are better than anything you have coming out of the pen. That is just the way it goes most of the time. Much like the presence of Martinez obviously helped a number of our guys at the plate, it is likely that Kelly was a better pitcher knowing what he had to pick him up behind him if need be. - Eovaldi - Sale - Price - Porcello - E-rod - Not too shabby.
  23. As voted by the players in mlb, Chris Sale's slider is the nastiest pitch in all of baseball to hit. Losing him might give me a case of the quivers!
  24. You are absolutely right that we have no idea what the next agreement might look like. You could be right that JH has boxed himself into a corner or on the other hand he might have been peeking into the old crystal ball. Something has to change and I'm betting that the change will be beneficial to the Red Sox.
