  1. yes - It absolutely does Moon - work with me here!
  2. I'll clarify my comment. Most teams I guess could see it as a luxury to have a couple of above average receivers on their club. Once again looking at the total catching package on this team which really doesn't have much in the way of weakness, I don't see either Vazquez or Leon as something special. It's nice to have them both but if we needed any offense from that position niether amounts to very much. Most teams seem to require some offense from the catching position. We are lucky that we don't seem to have that need. If they stay great and if one or the other is traded, ho hum.
  3. There is simply put not one single blueprint that leads to success. It is extremely narrow minded to think that there is. We have a great organization in Boston. I'll support any direction they happen to go in. I'm not quite ready to change the word on my fan card from Boston to Tampa just yet.
  4. I'm still hanging on to hope that he is back with us (I realize that that might seem silly). I like him and the way he approaches the game but mostly I just want to hear him shout from the mound at Fenway the following words: "I'm still here"!!!
  5. Hey no matter what people think, when you look at catching from a total package perspective, this is a weak spot of this team's roster. Does that mean that we can't win by using V and L in that position - of course not we did. Do we need to upgrade the position?- probably not. Does it mean that the defense, pitch calling, arm strength and framing is better than everybody else who plays the position? I would not be too terribly upset if either one of these guys was traded for an upgrade but I think to get anything of value back for either, someone would have to be awfully desperate for a catcher.
  6. I know that you are looking forward to these kids getting the opportunities they deserve just like I am.
  7. Great to hear this from someone who might know what they are talking about!
  8. Sounds just a dite sarcastic here. i'm sorry that you posted this. I am really looking forward to watching some of young players advance and prove the doubters wrong. It is beginning to sound as though we have some here who actually want to be right so very badly that they might not even want these kids to succeed. Hope that we are all on the same page here.
  9. Proponents of the cliff I'm afraid are likening those who don't believe in such things to people who might deny that the earth is round. Honestly I hope that when there isn't some massive free fall for this franchise that these folks will be happy and not to terribly upset that they are wrong.
  10. Make it easy on yourselves boys - dig up the "monster" and prop him up out there. We could use a dose of what Mr. Radatz had when he was on top of his game.
  11. I'm still on the "Kimbrel is coming back to Boston" train.
  12. If we abided by that philosophy here Moon, no one would be clamoring for us to sign Bucholtz. I kind of agree though. I would be very upset if this team even thought about bringing Hanley Ramirez back into the fold. Sometimes the dead wood gets left behind.
  13. I don't disagree with this at all. In an effort to discredit a very successful man though, now we hear suggested that it is DD and not JH who doesn't want to spend the money . Lame joke .
  14. Really - silly me - I don't see it that way at all.
  15. I think that most people do. The real minority voices in New England will find fault with what ever gets done. If he signs a Kimbrel let's say well it was too much money and he could have gotten the same result cheaper. If he does nothing more than he has done, he is wasting a potential winning season to some. Signing a couple of late season and World Series heroes to some represented too much risk and too much money. The complaining voices tend to be very loud for sure but that is somewhat typical. He might get a few luke warm pats on the back from the resident know it alls but it is a pretty tough gig to come out of here a winner.
  16. Curiosity only here Moon but why do you think that Vazquez is the pick of our litter? I don't see it. I see absolutely no difference in the abilities of Leon and Vazquez. If the call was simply about which I felt was the better catcher, I go with Leon.
  17. It's amazing isn't it.
  18. I am a great fan of the Patriots program and the way they have consistently run it for so long. I actually think that the Red Sox in some respects have adopted some of the same philosophies. If I were an opponent, rather than hate what some might consider one of the greatest programs in the history of sports, I would try to copy it.
  19. ty - I enjoyed that article. i also enjoyed reading up on Sale a little as well. when he says that he has the whip back in that arm action, it bodes well for us heading to spring training.
  20. ...and that just seems to be the way it is these days. It still amazes me how that ballpark sells out game after game after game.
  21. It has been an interesting discussion here for sure. Personally I am a capitalist. Socialism in baseball is likely not going to work.
  22. Absolutely!!!
  23. So my question to the people thinking that the drinking incidents as well as the fried chicken and beer crap what about the 2018 team? What have you heard? I'm not saying that professional athletes don't do everything that many otherwise normal people might do but until we hear something to the contrary, I'm going to believe that once this past year's roster was settled, it looked to me like there wasn't a whole lot else other than video games and baseball going on. Personally I like that very much. I actually kind of like it when the teams I pull for are held to a higher standard.
  24. Also looks to me like in the eyes of the residing Yankee fan, all Yankees are totally free of any injury issues now and for the foreseeable future and that the future of the Sox hinges around the nearly decrepit arms of the majority of our pitchers.
