  1. This I agree with very much. He certainly has been paid well. I don't know him so I kind of project myself in his shoes. He was screwed. Obviously his contract was ridiculous. He is quite likely good enough to play at the major league level. In my world, obviously there are things more important than adding millions to millions.
  2. Back in the day, the 60's, we were lucky to get to see the C's play once a week - Sunday afternoon. I grew up listening to just about every game they played with the radio glued to my ear.
  3. Absolute fact.
  4. Oh yes - Mr. Mcfilthy and Mr. Mcanasty
  5. My man Johnny - He fiddles he faddles, he diddles he daddles... and much more like it.
  6. Hold out a little longer. The cost is likely to go down.
  7. yeah not so much.
  8. Resurrection of the tired old debate? ty - i was getting bored.
  9. in a way i do think that his contract is a burden but more importantly i think that it is morally and ethically wrong for a player to be treated this way regardless of how much he makes. I also happen to think that stowing players away at the AAA level is quite common. Castillo has been screwed. Oh for the record I could care less about the size of the contracts the Red Sox give out. it is play money. i care much more about the players as individuals and what they bring to the game. i tend to not think abut what they are being paid. On this site it tends to make me somewhat unusual and I am very proud of that.
  10. Are you sure Bloom hired Roenicke? Sounds like a Luchino move to me. Maybe even DD somehow
  11. but but - we live in an era where wealthy people regardless of how they came by it, have to be dishonest cheats and should be willing to give what they have away. lol The only exception it seems is that anyone in the entertainment industry gets a free pass.
  12. Wait - not so sure - Rusney Castillo's contract was fairly substantial and it doesn't seem to matter. He appears dead to them as well.
  13. couldn't resist. Tried but just couldn't
  14. likely not in a Red Sox uniform. Regardless of how much he is paid, what happened to him was an absolute tragedy and never should have happened.
  15. Larry = MVP (say it ain't so)
  16. Without a doubt! Understand though for sure that it isn't about liking. I like a lot of people with whom i disagree. But, you become the next GM, I'm all in at least until the tenure ends and then it appears that all bets are off!!! lol I'll hindsight you to death.
  17. Hey now there you go - we agree. I like bloom as well. Guess I better add though that I am a fan of whoever happens to be our GM.
  18. I assume lots from slasher's posts.
  19. A high compliment coming from my Canadian neighbor. I appreciate you staying tuned.
  20. ... calling henry out here for being cheap and not extending Betts. I'm not really because I have been educated by the best talksox has to offer. We had absolutely no choice but to trade him. We got all that we could for him and undoubtably Verdigo when he recovers from his back fractures will make me forget all about Betts anyway. Plus I am just loving all these ultra cheap signing by Bloom of late. he is the man. Actually i do like the Pillar move.
  21. Oh never to worry. I have a majestic sense of staying power. Relentless
  22. Well well so the Mookie yak continues. Being one who continues to hate losing one of the best ever, let's make a deal. Personally i won't say one more word about giving Betts away when all of the ******** stops about how DD was such a lousy GM and how he ruined the farm.
  23. I know right DD killed us. I really wish that we had those other owners who knew what the hell was going on. Those guys that owned the club when DD was the GM were just losers. They had no idea what he was up to.
  24. Actually i tend to think that it does matter who we win with sometimes especially to the fans who really count - the kids growing up with the game pay attention.
  25. has to come back to that damned DD don't you think. that old maverick just went ahead and did things his way with no guidance from above.
