  1. correct but they got da bears, da bulls, and da blackhawks. good enough
  2. I'm not sure Shaughnessy was alive when I started following the Sox. For me it's generational - Grandfather-Mother-Me

My guess is that you are talking Hartford. A great course to see some low scores. Golf course is a great place for any young person to work if you are looking for any kind of summer job. it is a fresh air game that requires a tremendous amount of practice to improve. The right kind of practice. Good luck. Complete your backswing and stay with the shot!

Glad you follow this game- hope you play. Great job Rickie. Another one who is good for the game. This will never be a 5th major- the field makes the cut but the course does not.
  5. I have no problem with them bringing him up. I don't think that he is too young. I don't care if people think he lacks experience. They could have brought up Spring I guess. I am actually curious to find out if he is as good as projected or if he will become a footnote like so many before him. This is his time. It is up to him.
  6. I guess that I would have to say that bringing JBJ up is a good move if simply to reward someone for a job well done. he deserves another shot at the big time. Not so sure about Swihart. No one really knows how good he will or won't be. Doesn't look like we are talking Fisk here. The logical move but not the only one that could have been made was to bring him up. As far as the pitching staff is concerned, it seems that some here think that they are mediocre. Not by a long shot. Maybe at some point but not now. Wright deserves a chance to start and the next one up would probably be Johnson.
  7. Retirement is great. Stay active and stay healthy. If I wasn't retired though I certainly wouldn't have time to post here. Too busy working, working out , and helping with the kids.
  8. Not sure the fans really have that kind of power.
  9. What are their other options? If you don't bring them up and you don't make trades what do you suggest? Status quo?
  10. Not so hot for E-Rod last night but Johnson pitched well again today.
  11. The firing of Nieves troubles me. Not a class move. Nothing came from a player to make me think that he had been tuned out. They appear to like and respect him. Bucholtz is smarter than I thought. He knows that it is impossible but the pitchers are the ones who should have been fired. Not realistic but certainly makes sense. I don't think that saying they are better than they seem to be right now and as a result will play better is really going out to far on a limb. It can't get a lot worse. TW 101 is absolutely right - it is a generational thing with us. Based upon all of the early predictions, what is there to feel optimistic about? We'll hang with them because we are fans. I could not care less about whether someone is optimistic or pessimistic - I like realistic. I think that the franchise in general is facing some major challenges going forward.
  12. I wonder if he would get paid for their jobs as well?
  13. almost and should are good words - you are positive for sure. i hope that you are right. It is also possible that one or more of these guys are teetering on being done regardless of what the statistics say. Certainly strange but possible.
  14. Chili Davis - see ya. Your neck gets the axe next. Got to be the pitching and hitting coaches fault don't you think.
  15. Rodriguez goes tonight. I really hope he pitches well. If he does, this one could give his future a little jump start.
  16. Maybe Craig and Napoli should switch women. Who were the two Yankee pitchers who pulled that one off?
  17. With the respect to this one, I absolutely agree. I think there are pitchers who are and have been throwing better than Johnson but I think moving somebody to the bullpen if they can't get the starting job done is a smart move. Johnson might not be my first pick but I am all for giving him a chance. I'm still not sold on Nieves being tuned out by anybody. I think that is a cop out big time but somebody had to fall on the sword. It something you either believe or not. We all deserve to see if Rodriguez, Wright, Owens, or Johnson can pitch at this level.
  18. The team continues to make some very interesting moves. The whole off- season pitching process looked to many like a sign and hope deal. An awful lot of faith was placed on a number of pitchers whose track records said that they could have gone either way. Porcello has done what should have been expected of him - the others not so much. Nieves has served as the fall guy here. I hope things work out for the Sox, he was given chicken s*** and expected to make chicken salad of it. I'm not sure how much of a difference any pitching coach could possibly make anyway. Not his fault. They are all big boys - ownership - GM- Manager - Players. Being accountable starts at the top not with the pitching coach. Only one pitching move! They took the easy way out.
  19. That looks like a logical move for them to make. Normally, I might agree that you give Miley, Masterson, Bucksnorts, and Kelly a long leash but if any of this group gets pounded or can't at least keep you in a game and any of the group of Rodriguez, Wright, Owens, and Johnson pitches well a move should be made. I think that it should be performance based.
  20. I agree with you but I think that if they make a decision to bring someone up from Pawtucket it ought to be based on who is throwing the best at that time. I am not sure that it would be either Barnes or Johnson. Right now Johnson would either be 3rd or 4th and Barnes 5th. I'm sick of people talking about the age of any of these guys. Bring up the one who is doing the best job - something the Sox don't tend to always do.
  21. I would not like to see a trade for him but if they continue to use Tarawa as they have, then they are going to have to get some help from somewhere particularly if they don't bring some one up.
  22. I haven't read anything to indicate it but maybe they will bring up a couple of the guys from Pawtucket and move one or two of our starting studs into the bullpen.
  23. pretty sure you know this 700 but my post was meant for SK.
