  1. My Canadian friend Cameron grew up watching Mr. Orr play the game. In his opinion there is absolutely no question who the greatest of all time was - Bobby Orr.
  2. Ok Jad - I'm liking it now. Most of us can live in two worlds. good job - gets the proverbial touche from me!!!
  3. That's what we mean - bustin it
  4. I met a number of Canadians from Ontario this winter. Great people that became good friends. i had no idea how important hockey was to Canada. thought we were enthusiastic about our games but we don't have anything on the Canadians. The consensus among them was though that John Gibbons is a joke and should be gone.
  5. so did Dick Radatz for me fellow starto guy. i always felt a little guilty doing it though.
  6. There is one helluva difference between being concerned and disappointed and being in panic mode. There is a middle ground and really that is where I hear most of the disgruntled folks are living - including me.
  7. Wilt wasn't really good from the lime no matter how he shot them. He still stands as one the greatest bb players and athletes of all time though.
  8. You nasty little thing. Couldn't you have said it with a little more of your literary flair?
  9. for the record no as much as I like travis, he ain't what I am talking about as a power threat.
  10. Clearly not the big dipper Wilt - although he was one of the greatest of all time. Mr. Barry could do it for sure.
  11. I hear your counters to my statements and i hope that you are right. It is still a disturbing trend. i hope that it changes. it seems like a very unusual trend but maybe it isn't.
  12. For what it is worth (maybe not much) the only player last year who looked close to being physically ready to compete at the ml level was Moncada. To Benintendi's credit - he has always been able to hit- he did what he could do to get stronger, but the question i have is where are the legit power guys? There must be some of them out there and somebody must be drafting them.
  13. When you are in the top 5 with respect to the number of hits you have and in the bottom 5 with respect to the number of runs that you have scored with respect to both leagues, what would be a logical conclusion? It might tell someone that it looks as though that as good as our players look athletically, we lack run producers.
  14. A very bleak picture you paint here Max. There were a few of us that really did think that this team's run production would take a step backward without someone with consistent power to replace Papi. We have lots of guys who can hit it is just a matter of how many hits will it take us to produce runs. When you say that this team lacks the skills to essentially do anything baseball related, sounds like you think we must suck. Although outside of watching Sale pitch, I don't see too much that excites me, i still think there will be some competent baseball played. Is the picture really as bleak as what you think it is? I sure hope not.
  15. he looks very slow almost sluggish around the bag
  16. Not really arguing with you jad just love to see you spinning the words. rapier like wit - blunted on the stone of "your understanding" - my goodness . Don't hold back. lol
  17. do he cubs ever hit singles like we do?
  18. That goddam home run ball again.
  19. They seem like solid young men. Looks to me like the more Vazquez is out there the more comfortable he gets. I kind of feel the same about Hernandez. happy for them both!
  20. no need to bunt today the are busting it
  21. I agree although I do have a special bias for Hernandez. i am surprised honestly though that he has looked that comfortable to date at third. When i saw him a few years ago in Portland he was playing short. i thought he looked very good but i guess I didn't see a potential third baseman there.
  22. jad- what Hanley just did - that is what I mean by busting it. Hope that clears it up.
  23. interesting concession. Nope - busting it would be when they all start hitting the home runs that people are so sure that they are going to hit. i think that it makes sense to just wait it out and not try anything different at all don't you?
  24. Kimmi - Why did you think that i said you said anything at all about playing on a regular or part time basis? I don't remember you saying anything about playing time.
  25. If a player played twice a week over the course of a full season, would you consider that a fair amount to qualify as a legit "sample size"? If you do, good. What I am saying is that he might look average at best playing twice a week even though to some that would be an adequate sample size to judge what his felding ability going forward might be. I don't. My sample size is all about playing daily on a regular basis. I think people who said that he is average at best based on what he did last year at the ml level, very well might be wrong. Actually I think that they are wrong. i hope that is clearer.
