  1. Trading one of our only power hitters now would like kind of foolish methinks.
  2. repeat repeat repeat - We need another "real" bat in the order. some of us have felt this way for well over a year now. Most of our guys really don't even look like like hitters.
  3. Shaw has been having his day just not with us. Pablo has to play -errors and all - we need his bat what there is of it. they need one more real hitter!
  4. E-Rod to the dl - these are fragile times!
  5. I got you. You really did not imply anything. It just seems so very interesting to me now and actually I was in favor of the trade partly because of how I feel about teenage prospects in general.
  6. ok - so you know or you think you know what they knew? I'm really just curious and not trying to start something here. If you know then for sure I will go with pretty much what you say with respect to situations like this from here on in.. Do you know or do you kind of assume that it is likely that Espinoza was 100% healthy at the time of the trade?
  7. So on a conspiracy not of sorts - did the Red Sox know for sure that Espinoza was 100% healthy when the trade was made? One of them is currently pitching and one is not.
  8. wtf is a yamsack? bet I can guess - lol
  9. all seriousness - I'm just happy that we are winning. I want them all to do well. I still think that we need another bat.
  10. yup I have been. I liked what I saw of him last summer. A big lefty with upside. He is young and is a ml pitcher. Like I said last year, over and over, I hope that Espinoza becomes what all of the scouts said he might but I still liked the odds for us in making this trade. If Pomeranz was older, I would have felt differently for sure but he is still young.
  11. don't rain on my parade.
  12. You know I want to say something about Pomeranz right now but I'll behave myself. lol Is Espinoza pitching again yet?
  13. the better lighting perfect baseballs batter's eyes are better at ml ballparks
  14. Rutledge does give us depth for sure but I think you have it about the way it is apt to shake out. I have always been optimistic when it comes to Marrero. I don't see him as a third baseman but without Hernandez and with Pedroia's injury history, Marrero could be the one for the job. it doesn't seem that long ago that people thought that he would become our next ss. I do think that Sandoval will get one more opportunity which I give about a 25 to 75% chance of working out. odds not being in his favor. With respect to Travis, he has always hit. Much like Benintendi.
  15. It's what they do. Can't wait to see what they do with their hit machine (Sam Travis) when the next moves are made.
  16. didn't somebody actually fall asleep in the Nationals dugout just a few years ago? lol
  17. Kelly had not pitched in 5 days. I'm not sure why you wouldn't try to get more than 29 pitches out of him. I liked the fact that he brought him in early. An unexpected change. I would have liked to see him try to get at least one more inning out of him.
  18. I agree with you that one of these two could help us out in the bullpen. Give us a guy out there who could actually give us more than one inning of potential pitching when he gets to the mound. With fewer and fewer pitchers even able to get to the 7th inning, one or even two fairly reliable arms out there that can be brought in to help out would be great. Johnson has overcome a lot in his career. i think that he would be happy to have any spot on the roster. I like the fact that he is a strike thrower.
  19. I really am a defense first guy believe it or not. I think that part of the plan for this season was to have a healthy bounce back year from sandoval. Maybe it will still happen but that remains to be seen. I really think that they failed to address the need for run producers. If it was just a case of replacing one bat, it would be an easy fix. It isn't. I understand that it is not about just hitting home runs for sure but it is a lot more than feilding a time primarily comprised of light although good hitters. It just takes more to produce runs. I understand entirely what all of these guys have done in prior years. It was also done with a big time power bat in the middle of their lineup which ultimately affected how all of the guys around him were pitched to. I hope for sure that I am wrong and that everything works out.
  20. I still think that they really miss that real power bat in the middle of that lineup.
  21. I think he looked damn good. It helps me knowing that we have our real ace in Sale. Price's cutter looked so good and his velocity was fine. If I picture him as an ace minus, he looks real good.
  22. I think that you have to find a way to utilize Johnson. One of the two - Pomeranz or Johnson - would solidify our bullpen. i think that we still miss the real bat in the lineup. The big bat to help out Mookie. Pedroia getting injured is and was inevitable. Losing his real backup Hernandez sucks. If they sort things out, they'll keep battling away.
  23. They need another bat. A real bat. Include Johnson, and there is enough pitching.
  24. I agree with you for sure about the potential of over using some of these so called small ball techniques. Good managers just have to be able to recognize when the time is right to try to something different to help their team. I think that over coaching can actually be more harmful to a team than no (basically) coaching.
