  1. Sadly i guess he is becoming somewhat of a joke. Blah blah blah is all I hear from him. They need a leader and it should be the one in charge.
  2. the second report can be read from the weei website.
  3. heard it on the radio
  4. c'mon - sarcasm
  5. They could trade them all save Sale and Kimbrel and I'd be ok with it. It is a joke.
  6. Second report today, took it back. Pedroia evidently wasn't even close. A weird story getting weirder.
  7. Not so fast - the first report said that he was much a part of it. The second said he was nowhere near and said nothing. I'll just say what I said earlier - were they all even on the right plane. Maybe even a Price look-a-like. Write a story - if it sells and somebody thinks that it is just filled with with good honest journalism, good for them.
  8. No doubt! but he still might be the best of the bunch. Oh and for the record - I'm the guy who doesn't give a squat about the red sox luxury joke (I meant to say tax) - they were numb enough to sign these guys in the first place. Simply releasing chubby tells me that 50 or so million doesn't really mean much to them. I'm not for bringing him up but he would be ahead of Brentz on my pecking order.
  9. Price might very well see himself as a team leader here and if he actually is it is a sad sad story.
  10. +1 on this one - he is a card carrying member of the Boston media
  11. You are right of course in a perfect world everyone would respect everyone and their opinions and we would just all get along. I taught for awhile and I did have to deal with students, other teachers, Parents, admiinstrators, and fellow coaches. I don't think I ever used the f world when defending myself or criticizing them but I'm not buying into the theory that everybody plays nicely and if you don't you are just awful. IMO - a color analyst who is expected to report honestly about what he sees without soft peddling should not travel on the team plane. The world really isn't all that nice. Now I will also say that this whole story is a non-story. One in which we really don't know what was said, who said what, and who cheered who. Early today it was reported that Pedroia was cheering Price on loudly. It has since been rescinded. Maybe it wasn't even Price on the plane. Maybe it was someone pretending to be him. I like reading what Shaugnessey writes but let's remember what his personal goal when writing a story is - to get people to read it! He has never been above a little embellishment from time to time. Once again I'm not defending Price - I don't like him - but I'm not going to rake him over the coals for something that I don't think I ever should have heard about. This looks like a leaderless team to me.
  12. And Rusney Castillo just quietly keeps doing what we need - hit - at the AAA level. He is also hitting a few dingers (not as many as Brentz) but he probably is a much better hitter. It's a shame in a way.
  13. I agree - Farrell talks too much and quite often says very little.
  14. ??? - I get that I need to be very careful here because people will see this as me defending Price which isn't what I am doing. Also, I don't care what Eck says - he entertains me. Your post makes it sound as though he serves in some type of supervisory role for the Red Sox. Unless I am missing something, he doesn't. Whatever he says, he owns and in his particular job I'm pretty sure he understands what comes along with that. This idiotic situation should have been dealt with by the people in charge. Do you or does anyone here really know what was said? Do you or anyone really know who these guys are? How many laughed? Is it maybe just a little possible that this story was written to get people interested in reading it? The boss did need to step in here but whoever we think he is, he didn't. I know nothing about this situation other than what Shaughnessy wrote. You and others here obviously know more than I do. My guess is that there are lot of pretty good guys on that plane who are getting a bad rap for a story that has been blown out of proportion. Once again, although I think that Eck deserves a lot of respect but he is not the boss. Now I don't think that he said anything that should get him called out by anyone but when you do the job he does sometimes it is going to happen if he reports honestly. Do you or anyone else here think that if something like this happens at the Patriot's training camp, we will ever hear about it? I bet not!
  15. Your arguement has been the same as mine and others for quite a while. It was and is a common sense arguement.
  16. he is one of my MA heroes
  17. Farrell is "a player's" manager which to me means a weak manager. I also get all the Eck love. I love the guy too and I don't like Price. I still think that in his warped way he feels as though he was defending his teammate and if anybody cheered him on, it is likely that they felt the same way. If your job is to report objectively what you see in an athletic contest and somebody sucks and that is what you kind of say, what the f*** do people think is likely to happen when that reporter hops right on the team plane? This is a ******** story that should have been handled differently.
  18. seriously Devers? good for you!
  19. Nope - me too . Looks like he can hit. We need anyone that can hit just a little bit better than a little. Hitters needed!
  20. Unless I can see something different that makes sense, i really just see it as a move to give us something coming off the bench that could help us offensively. I also think that Bogaerts recent injuries probably helped to lead to the making of this move.
  21. Yup. He's got a lot going against him. I don't think it would make any difference at all whether he was playing well or not. There would still be a loud vocal outcry (maybe justified) against him.
  22. Doesn't confuse me at all. He provides us with an upgrade over Holt, Marrero, and Lin. He is a utility player.
  23. I saw that and read Bradford's article this morning. We live in a different time. Everybody knows or wants to know everything about everybody. Personally, I do not care what happens on the Red Sox plane. It isn't something I need to know. Is it a story that even needed to be reported? It was I guess so that's it. Price comes off looking like a boob and he won't be able to recover from this one. It might not even make a difference whether he pitches well or not. He has clearly angered the Media.
  24. That's the thing. A utility player that can run and hit a little.
  25. It is very possible and maybe even predictable I guess that Price doesn't help us in the playoffs but if he doesn't pitch well for us for the rest of this regular season it is quite possible that this team won't get to the playoffs.
