  1. hard to imagine that both IT and JC have been moved.
  2. I really don't think that the local fan base is seen as much of a turnoff to anyone unless of course a player doesn't appreciate a full house every home game and fans that care deeply about their teams. I'm going out now to move a foot of snow. i don't blame him much for wanting to stay in Arizona.
  3. I don't get the feeling that Martinez really wants to come here - who does? I think that he wants to stay in Arizona. he very well might take less to stay there. It really is his choice.
  4. I don't disagree with too much of what you say here. Some but not all. I may be petty as well but it is in fact how I feel. You made some good points but you insulting me over my comment? Are you s***ing me?
  5. I missed the dolt part to - you are on a roll. Come on come on keep em coming.
  6. That's fine but I'm pretty sure you know why I said what I said. It has nothing to do with whether I will continue following the Sox or not. I am naive but I am pretty sure I learned something about you. If you don't think that what you said was a nasty insult then ya I'll call ******** on that.
  7. Wow - ouch here - I have nothing to add to your post. I'm pretty sure that the foundation was not founded due to a guilt complex. I will admit though that I have a hard time judging history by today's standards.
  8. sums it up pretty much for me
  9. First week of May for me.
  10. And what are your thoughts about the Yawkey Foundation?
  11. It will be interesting to see if he makes a return this year. I'm thinking that a trade could happen very soon as well.
  12. Those Toronto Raptors are very very good.
  13. I think that if he signs with us it will ultimately be only about the money. If he is considering a one year deal with Arizona because he is unhappy with our offer then that says to me that he really doesn't want to play in Boston. If that is the case, wish he would just spit it out. He and Boras are wasting everybody's time.
  14. I just think that where there is smoke most of the time there is fire. He may not have said a thing but I wouldn't be surprised to find out that he did. If the next best offer this guy can get is a one year offer from Arizona with the Red Sox offering 5 (125), it is tough to understand what his issue might be. Very very strange negotiating and I agree with you - move to the next plan very soon. he might not be the guy we want.
  15. so that is interesting - I'm guessing that there might be one other person on here who appreciates what I have to say at least some of the time. You don't like what I have to offer - use the ignore button.
  16. If there is a shred of proof to these rumors, I don't see this working out very well for either side if JD comes to Boston. Obviously it is all about the money. At some point, doesn't it have to be about some things more than just that? If the answer to this question is no, I'm going to be moving away from ml baseball. I do still think that there are some players who play for something in addition to the $ but maybe there aren't as many of them as I have hoped there are. I don't blame Martinez for trying to get a fair payday but the Sox have offered plenty and he isn't happy with the offer. Move away from him DD.
  17. He could be wrong but there very well might be something to it. If DD is intent on waiting this one out until the end, I think that he is making a mistake. I really hope that he moves away from him. I've suspected for a long time that if the money is even close that he would choose Arizona over Boston. 125 for 5 for JD Martinez doesn't seem to be making it - time to go to plan B if there is one.
  18. Maybe through a slow process of scrimping and saving Ryan Dempster felt that he had enough money to see him through.
  19. I'm to Scottish and set in my ways - f*** em all says me
  20. I would be very curious to know how this is affecting to fan base in general. I know how it is affecting me.
  21. I really agree with you here but in some respects it still doesn't make much sense to me. Do you think he thinks that by waiting longer he is going to add another 25 or so million to the offer? I would think that to be unlikely.
  22. I think that that is a logical take on things. I'm not going to let logic get in my way though. My experience with most realtors for one is that if they can sell your house for less not more than what you think it is worth they will do everything that they can do to move it. Do you really know agents up there Bell who will suggest a higher price than what you think your home might be worth? Going back to baseball and the issue at hand, there really is fairly large difference between what I might like to get for my home and 125 million dollars for 5 years of work. It becomes particularly significant to me when there seem to be no better offers out there. When you are talking this much money, yes I call it greed. I do agree with you for sure about the human nature take on things.
  23. and that is all about greed - when you are talking about astronomical figures like they are asking for, it defines greed. I could care less also about what an owner makes. Good luck to these morons for trying to be as capitalistic as they can be. It is what we do. I'd like to say that sometimes you win but sometimes you lose but if these fools sign for 5 or 10 million dollars less than what they want, they still don't lose. Even though I am very pleased to see the Sox seemingly holding the line, I still wish that they would head in a different direction.
  24. So - Cut off his nose to spite his face so to speak Harmony? If he chooses to play somewhere else (Arizona) it will likely be because he just doesn't want to play in Boston. Boston's "lowball offer" still looks like a fairly healthy offer but if he really wants to play somewhere else, it might take a bigger overpay to get him. I personally am done with him. I really wish DD would head in another direction. If he signs with us and rips the hide off the ball, i still will have a very hard time being a fan. To them it might be a business, but to many lifelong fans it is a great deal more.
