  1. Slasher - Pom Pom will be just fine. He has been drinking the same Kool aid that Price has. All systems go!
  2. me too and I think that he will
  3. That's an unfair question for Slasher. He hates Price. Pick somebody he likes like Pomeranz (lol). whoops sorry probably no option there. (my beat shot at humor for the day!) weak humor
  4. I wonder if there is anyone living on planet earth who wouldn't make a fuss under those circumstances? I'm not sure what would happen but I'm pretty sure there would be plenty of crap flying everywhere if it did. I can understand why no one wants to see his option vest - I don't either but if the Red Sox pull some shananigans to make sure he doesn't get those at bats my bet would be that it would not end well for our guys in general. I'd rather see him be released.
  5. Hey - didn't you tell me about the unimportance of Spring Training stats in general? lol For the record, I am curious about what Ramirez will have to offer. If he has nothing, I would be very pleased to see a Sam Travis call up. I'm just as curious as to see what he could possibly give us if allowed to play for an extended period of time.
  6. Pitchers hitting in those days made it even better for me. It's a little easier in the AL these days to plunk people when you know you aren't going to be standing in the batters box anytime soon. I still kind of miss those old daze.
  7. it's probably hard for everybody to believe that neither Holt nor Marrero has drawn much interest from other clubs.
  8. Billy Buck was one of my favorite baseball players. Most of us who were alive at the time remember this game vividly regardless of how many times we have tried to forget it. He shouldn't have been in the game at that time, we all pretty much know that but I always felt that the treatment he recieved at that time was really unfair and damn near tragic. As you two have mentioned (Spud and Moon) there were other things that happened along the way that could have changed the games outcome. It just wasn't meant to be I guess.
  9. I think that it is because you are a fellow Mainer but I'll take it. Thanks - lol
  10. Great article about Kimbrel's return today. Accurate, appropriate, emotional- this man and his wife get it. It must be borderline torture for him right now. I think that he is pretty pleased with the care his little girl is getting in Boston. Very pleased with the Red Sox organization as well. Sometimes I guess there is a place where doing the ethically right thing is very valuable. Hope they never change.
  11. I'm really pleased that you posted this. I feel exactly the same way you do. It has to do I guess with the way I was brought up.
  12. I just like the choice of words better - hastiness and maybe even rash as opposed to panic. It could have been a hasty move and maybe a bit rash but to me not a panic move. That implies to me that no thought at all was given to moving him and I do think that however we feel about what they did with Swihart, that there was some thought given to the move. Whatever, it kind of looks to me as though he is going to have that super sub role. He is going to get his chance. Teams showing interest in Marrero might help change the landscape a bit and it is great to hear that Kimbrel is going to be rejoining the team. Let's go!!!
  13. Oh and by the way, I realize that I'm standing kind of alone on this too. I'm thinking that I might see the world a little differently. Maybe I just don't get out much.
  14. Evidently in your world that is how it works. You are entitled to that opinion.
  15. My opinion obviously is going to stay the same. i'm not arguing whether Hanley is owed anything at all. My point would be all about ethics, integrity, and honesty. That's it. As for where anyone stands on the intellectual scale moon - it has become fairly obvious to me that if you wanted to know how bright notin is all you would have to do is ask him. As for me - oh well - it doesn't really matter to me much whether people posting on this site think I am a fool or the court jester even. Like many others here I'm sure, I had a successful career and I am very proud of that. Trying to make others think that I am bright, not my style. I'm comfortable with my intellect. Heres to you and your brilliant friend.
  16. I do sort of agree with you here. I'm not sure they handled his development particularly well also. I hope that he gets a good opportunity to make a solid comeback.
  17. I like Pomeranz but I would not be surprised as well to see him take a step back this year. It is still possible I guess that we have not seen his best either. I 'm really hoping for that. Essentially for me, I think it means that we need Porcello to step his game back up.
  18. Cora says he is pretty damn good also. Works for me.
  19. Sorry Moon i really do hate to do this to you but you are starting to sound a little too much like notin for me. You are kind of making it sound like my statement had anything to with feelings. it did not. I so not care at all about the feelings of overpaid pampered professional baseball players. Not one bit. Probably I should have been clearer. I want the Sox to be a cleanly run organization. I'll say again it will be absolutely a bad way to run a business if it becomes known that the Red Sox are sitting Ramirez simply so the option does not vest without letting him know upfront what they are doing. That is my opinion. I know that it isn't particularly a popular one here and I don't care. In my world, there really isn't much that is more important than the way you treat people whether you like them or not.
  20. Once again Moon, I don't really think that it is a matter of anyone wanting to have Hanley Ramirez back next year badly. It will certainly depend on a few things having to go very right for him if he does. Personally, I would love to see Sam Travis progress to the point that he could step right in to that first base role. As he will probably be this year, Moreland would continue to provide a capable backup. Jerking Ramirez around or somehow letting him know up front (which certainly would be the better of the two in my book) keeping him from getting enough at bats in my estimation would be a piss poor way to run a business. I'm in great hope that this org. is above that kind of rinky dink crap. If that's the game plan, which I do not think it is, release him now!
  21. I disagee - a panic move would be one that did not appear necessary. That move did . The only panic I see comes from posters here.
  22. It is a tired refrain for me that is all. I don't believe in the cliff theory. I thought you knew that. Doom and gloom - that is all it says to me. It wasn't directed at you so much as to the people who have consistently been whining about the Ramirez and Moreland contracts. Maybe I have said things differently but I certainly am not the first person to mention this and if it continues to be such a hot topic I will continue to make my feelings known.
  23. I think that you are right on on this one. It all depends on a whole lot of stuff either going right or wrong.
  24. Moon - come on - I do like reading your posts and am sure glad that we have a poster here who just keeps it going but really who has said that Swihart or anybody else on this team is untradeable? I don't think that that is the point anyone is making so what is the rush? I sense panic in posters here for sure but not in the Red Sox management team.
  25. One more thing that I just don't get here, is why are some of our more prolific posters so hot to swing deals and make trades right now. We have a damned good team here. Why not just relax and enjoy watching the growth that we have. I hope that we hold a pat hand just as is. There is 0 not to like about this team.
