  1. I don't agree with respect to your choice of words nor to your description of our current farm system. I think that it is depleted but not quite to the extent that you and your supporters say that it is. You do have lots of support for sure just not from me but hey my head is in the sand right.
  2. I'm gradually realizing that!
  3. I wonder if people would be whining as much about our obviously irreparable farm system (lol) if Groome had stayed healthy and Chavis had stayed off the drugs.
  4. 71 wins and the constant is the crying over our bullpen and our need for more starting pitching plus lots of other stuff. I think that it is important to try to get better but I am completely happy with this team but it is also evident that I have a problem with reality. Glad I do because I'm not ready to jump off any cliff anytime soon. Also, I don't even think about October baseball though until it gets here.
  5. Saying that the farm system is depleted is correct - saying that it is toast is an opinion that I don't share. If I'm the one you are calling an ostrich. I don't really like that. I don't see things the way you do.
  6. I don't think that our farm is toast at all. No one obviously ml ready but pretty soon they will be. I think that DD did what needed to be done. It is ok obviously for people to question everything that any GM does. Personally I love the way this guy operates. That doesn't mean that I agree with everything that he does but I far prefer a GM who acts as opposed to reacts or one who does not act. I don't hindsight deals that have been made. Some work and some don't. I think that he is for the most part one step ahead of the competition.
  7. I really don't agree with much of what you have listed here but whatever. Where the hell are you Hitch? Who do you mean by many of us? Come on - If I have to be more specific than so do you. Let's go.
  8. We do live in a sick sick world but that once again that is just my opinion. If any surgery is needed then so be it I guess. But electing to agree or approve of a young person probably your own son to have any unneeded surgery in hopes of adding a few miles per hour to a fastball just sounds like border line abuse to me. If they are hurt I guess that is one thing, but I really hope that this practice isn't going on. To each his own I guess, I don't get out much.
  9. Now seriously Hitch i was just having some fun with you. I have been admonished for my efforts and with all due respect I will refrain form these silly types of things in the future.
  10. oh how I long for the old daze
  11. I think that it is very odd how people don't appreciate different points of view and opinions.
  12. I actually have a pretty good idea how a discussion works Hitch. I'll keep making my sweeping statements and you keep making your little condescending ones.
  13. You clearly are a stat geek Moon but a tolerable one at that because you actually know something about the game being played on the field.
  14. I don't really think that my post was intended to specifically point out anyone. That really isn't something I tend to do in general unless I am forced to do so. I think that actually some of the time notin you try to appreciate someone's elses point of view.
  15. You aren't really interested in any kind of discussion with me and you know that. And seeing how you are right that it is a discussion forum I will continue to make all of the sweeping statements I wish to make. If you would like to discuss something that relates to baseball with me, I'm all for it.
  16. I know - right. I guess now we have to identify all people who say things that we seem to disagree with or that we might even see as being stupid. Is "someone" trying to turn this forum into an institute of higher learning? Do we have to now "quantify" all statements that we make?
  17. I'm very defensive and sensitive too. I do not think that we are talking two separate issues here though. The "Quite a few People" to whom you refer are the people I am referring to. Some on occasion tend to be a little nasty when discussing DD's moves. I have nothing to gain at all about naming anyone's name. Now I know what the obvious come back to this statement is - well what about all of the negative crap said about DD's predecessor? - I'm not one of those people. Don't rain on my parade here too much Hitch. I post here just for something to do. I get my morning laughs here from all of the ******** that gets slung around. When I start getting called out for slinging a little of my own, I likely will find something else to do. very defensive aren't I.
  18. Here we go again. it is just my perception I guess Hitch. You've caught me again I guess. I will gladly retract my statement. I have not read one time on here obviously about "desperate Dave" selling off the farm to win now. Nor do I have any reason to believe that he is at all concerned with the state of our current farm system. he just keeps giving away all of our prospects.
  19. For insurance purposes alone, I go with no fault. it is just so hard for me to try to wrap my brain around how E-Rod is continually getting injured.
  20. and you are probably right - If you haven't been crying over any of DD's work, then obviously I wasn't referring to you. The statement is definitely true just not in reference to you I guess. Have you not noticed a general tone from various posters constantly questioning and often criticizing Dombrowski for just about any move that he has made?
  21. I think that what we have done here is wonderful. When kids are concerned, someone needs to step up to help them. I still kind of long for the 3 sport athlete and a day when summer was for baseball and not an extra season for everything else.
  22. i mentioned the two tomies earlier. I think that we tend not to resign our rentals who aren't worth resigning. Maybe he will be worth it and maybe he won't be but the people crying over losing prospect Beeks are people who just want to cry over anything DD does. If the organization really felt that Beeks was worth keeping sometime down the line, he would still be in Boston.
  23. he sounds pretty happy to be in boston. My guess is that with any kind of success he gets resigned easily although that really isn't much of a concern.
  24. Dombrowski very likely is at the top of the food chain when it come to all of the wheeling and dealing. I think that they we are in fairly capable hands.
  25. This is an absolute fact and i am glad that you are the one who mentioned it. We all want to see our own guys developed into becoming stars but in this case with Evoldi once again, we are likely trading a young man who might or might not help us someday in a limited capacity because he just ain't as good as his minor league stats say he is, for someone who has a legit power arm and is still a young man. 2 tommy Johns is a concern but I think worth the risk. No question - beat some other teams to the punch - very good signing. I don't think that DD is done just yet either.
