  1. I'm thinking that E-Rod is what he appears to be. He gets injured and tends to stay that way. As for whose responsible for the injury, that f***ing imbecile (sorry) has I am sure been taught how to create the correct goddam angle to receive a throw when going to first. His position sucked. He ran through the runner. that is on him. I love his arm for sure - 1or 2 kind of arm. It is his brain I think that might come in to question.
  2. As an aside to this, that really is where most high schools had there very best athletes playing - pitcher , then whatever else. Swihart's head must be swimming. this young man has played all over the place. He continues to be just an outstanding athlete - better athlete but not catcher than both Vazquez and Leon. I think this guy still could be a damn good catcher. Give him a chance and leave him alone. No outfield - no third base - no first base - no second base - CATCHER. Let's see what happens.
  3. My thoughts exactly. Unless Beeks is going to grow an arm to add power then he will need to be a Scott Maddox kind of guy. they just aren't that easy to come by nor are they easy to develop. Just another good move.
  4. One more thing - it amazes me how many people here are already planning for October baseball in late July. My guess is that Chris Sale and the rest of the guys aren't. One day at a time - one game at a time. Sale is thinking about tonight's game as well as his next start. I bet he isn't looking ahead.
  5. I agree with everything in your post. I've been very impressed with Cora this season. I haven't always agreed with his decisions but I think that he is good right now and has a chance to be very good. I'm sure that he communicates with all of his players. He knows that he is working with one of the very best in Sale. I bet he listens to him but I also bet that he speaks his mind as well.
  6. Pound me with those facts Slasher - you know I don't listen to them! lol I hope Pomeranz comes out and pitches well just to piss off all of the guys who love to hate him too. Wake me up when Espinoza pitches in a ml game. double lol - you know I don't mean any of that stuff.
  7. I think that Cora gets it with respect to when and how much rest Sale should get. Sitting him down for any length of time could possibly work against him just as well. You rest him but not in any excessive manner.
  8. I thought that that that was an excellent play. Great throw to second. These are the types of guys that DD likes. Great signing - true pro.
  9. We'll see how it all works out for sure. Maybe he shouldn't start his season until June.
  10. For years now people have been waiting for all kinds of things to happen to Chris Sale. First it was his somewhat unorthodox delivery and of course it has always been about his size. What he does though is continue to pitch year after year many many innings , manny manny stirikeouts with basically the same velocity that he had as a rookie. he is unusual I guess to say the least. i'm all for doing exactly what Cora wants to do with him but I am in no way convinced that he will be better for the rest he is going to get. Worth a try I guess as long as the team continues to play well. Maybe he tires late in the season - I wonder what he says about it.
  11. Chavis has proven nothing at this point in time. If people think that he might provide a little power, I think that the logical question would be, what might have helped him with that power? He is young but that question is likely to follow him around for some time. If DD gets a chance to trade him for something of value, I bet he is gone in one of those very rapid minutes we sometimes talk about.
  12. Me either and I still don't. I'm the eternal hopetomist though. I still think that Thornburg could help us. Once again though, I would say that it is important to actually see these guys play a little before making a personal decision simply based on statistical information in my case. To me Dubon just looked like a future good one. But I kind of liked Shaw as well.
  13. Of all the ones traded, Dubon was the one I least liked seeing go. After seeing him play, I was very impressed.
  14. In your case, it probably is obvious but in others not so much. it is a frustrating point for me. I freely admit that I think Dombrowski is a far better GM than Cherington was when he was here. That is pretty obvious too I guess. I just don't and never will give them the kind of credit that some people (many more than just one ) give either of these guys for the way the product performs on the field. Im glad that we seem to have competent leadership at the top but I am far more interested in what actually happens on the field.
  15. It kind of reminds me of what one of the very best coaches I ever have worked with used to tell me - said coach also had a stellar playing career in high school as well as college. Rest is necessary and good for sure but - "what I had I gave because what I saved I lost". I think that Cora has done a great job managing pitcher's innings so far. Limiting pitch counts and maybe skipping a few starts to provide a little rest to get through the rest of the way makes sense but just not to an extreme. I'm really not sure that it makes any difference at all. I don't tend to look ahead much, day to day for me. If Sale says he feels great, good enough for me.
  16. And even in some cases where they aren't anymore! lol
  17. Perhaps they have realized that he has a chronic condition - bats attract his pitches. lol No joking though - Our bullpen has been fine for the most part. All of this talk about playoff performance ain't making it for me. First of all you have to get there and secondly if you do a new season begins. i don't even consider what anyone has done in prior playoff seasons. How many times have I been lectured here about how good or maybe even great players tend to play to the level that the stats say they should? There are no playoff only superstars. I like tough guys who get it done during the regular season. We have a bunch of them including the pitchers. If we get to the playoffs and we are not successful, it will have nothing to do with what any of these guys have done in the past. it is all about right now. i like our guys.
  18. Sorry I guess but it is just me. Giving any one person credit for any win or any loss is absolute ******** in my way of looking at things. The only reason that I post on a thread dealing with the wonderful accomplishments of GMs is because i really cannot believe the great like or dislike for any of them in general. They play a substantial role - that is it. The constant comparison of a beginning GM like cCherington to a seasoned veteran like Dombrowski in my opinion is ridiculous - no comparison. If and when Ben Cherington gets another chance, I hope that he is ready for the job and that he succeeds.
  19. Good to hear. We can now listen to all of the Price and Pomeranz haters.
  20. Having this type of affection for any GM is a mystery to me unless someone is related to them then I get it.
  21. He won nothing. He played a role in the team winning.
  22. I'm not disagreeing with you but there have been plenty (many more than one) of people here who continue to give this man no real credit for being an average defender out there. I'm not sure who you mean SS by some people. On this forum for the most part it would be me. I've never even suggested that he is better than average. What I have said is that he does not hurt us in the outfield. I'll stand by that as well as stating how I feel about anyone who loves the defensive metrics so much that they are willing to not accept the fact that he hasn't been bad at all out there for us. I'm not suggesting that you do that but there are people that do.
  23. No one drooling here and no one comparing him to your boy. What I'm saying I guess is that there is no way he is as bad as lots of people paint him out to be. I also don't think that that catch was easy for anyone with any size to make. Different game when you are 5'10" and weigh maybe 180. It is just like the people who s*** on Price all the time as far as I am concerned.
  24. This I understand and it is the only reason I would encourage him to accept that dh role a little more. It would have 0 to do with his fielding ability out there. He isn't bad at all but no one wants to see this guy get hurt.
  25. Price looked really pretty good last night as did JD in the outfield.
