Many of us have been rooting for this kid since day one. Many of us! None have been pulling for him more than the Spudman. Let's hope for the best for this young athlete.

Pomeranz needs to be able to throw the ball harder than he has so far this year to make any secondary pitch effective. If his velocity is there, he has the ability to help any team. I think that he knows what is at stake tonight.

Being a "status quo" kind of guy (which really is a joke by the way), I'm sitting here reading about all of the potential changes and additions this current team needs to make, while in the meantime they continue to win. if being in favor of the status quo means not wanting to break up in any way what these guys have got going , then maybe that is what I'm all about. There may be some more of what I would call minor additions made to this team but I have to say that I would be surprised if they resulted in bringing in Beltre or any other second baseman at this time. Of course it would look good to assemble what might be called the best team in the history of the game on paper but that might be all that it would be - on paper. What we have currently is a team that appears to be very close. They seem to enjoy each other as they continue their march toward the fall. If status quo means not wanting to do anything that might break up what we have right now in any way then yup I'm all for the status quo.

The part I like the most here is that they have brought in team first guys who really want to be here. Not a lot of selfishness as far as I can see.

I am not a status quo guy at all. I think that Holt is more capable than you might of manning second base. Nunez is your sub for sure, super sub if you will. We have issues as does every other team. We all have our wish lists but in reality really I just don't see this team in worse shape than any other team and when you are likely the best team in baseball that is good. Don't try to paint me into a corner please by suggesting that I don't want to see us keep trying to improve. I just don't see a very good team as having any dire need for great changes at the present time. We won't fall apart in my opinion if we don't go out and add another bullpen arm or if we don't go out and overpay for a second baseman. Of course some of the names thrown around here as potential trade targets would make us stronger on paper, I just don't see the need that you do.

73 and 33 - Where are the real cracks? Every team has weaknesses, every team has needs. Every team wants to get better. No team is going to win every game. Red Sox fans want to win them all and that isn't a bad thing. If we have to patch a team together for awhile, we won't be much unlike most teams. About the time I start to get down on Kelly or Thornburg etc., they come on out and get it done. I don't think that this team needs to make one move right now.

There is absolutely no rational reason why anyone shouldn't be able to expect Kimbrel to give you 4 outs. The question is whether making a change at the time he made it was the right move. Kimbrel isn't cursed. It just wasn't his night. -
It is good for sure to see him putting some hits up. I know that there are some great fielding outfielders in the game today but watching Bradley closely - the jumps he gets - the angles he takes - the respect his teammates give him when in comes to center field priority - his speed - and his cannon for an arm - it is very hard for me to imagine anyone being better. I go as far back as Gary Gieger. JBJ is the best centerfielder I have seen playing for the Sox. I used to think Freddie but he is going to have to hold down the number 2 spot in my mind from now on. Keep on hitting JBJ.

I'm with you here. I've supported Pomeranz for sure . When I saw him last year, all I saw was a young big lefty throwing real real well. this year not so much. i feel for this guy. I'm going to be patient and keep on hoping but I really am not all that optimistic. He might have fallen off a cliff but I don't think the team will anytime soon. lol

I do think that if Groome was healthy and doing well and Chavis was a normal productive prospect as wrong is it might be there are probably some people who would tend to think that our farm was not all that bad. They would for sure help with the outlook but still thin nonetheless. I agree though - still thin for the time being. Your choice of words suits me better I guess.

I agree that it is depleted. Certainly not to the point that it will not be recoverable. I just don't buy into the embellishing use of verbiage. It is just me I guess but when it rains outside, I tend to call it rainy, I don't suggest that it is monsoon season. In my opinion, almost every move that was done was done with a goal in mind - to make us a better baseball team. We have some of the best players in the game playing for us right now and tomorrow because of some of the trades made. If we had kept a majority of the players that we traded away, yup Pawtucket and Portland might be destination points but our current team would be no where near as good as it is now,. I think that our future will be just fine as well even though we no longer have the talented players traded away who likely would never appear on a Red Sox roster until it expands in the fall. Once again just my opinion. It really doesn't appear that my opinion is a popular one. i'm ok with that.

I don't agree with respect to your choice of words nor to your description of our current farm system. I think that it is depleted but not quite to the extent that you and your supporters say that it is. You do have lots of support for sure just not from me but hey my head is in the sand right.

I wonder if people would be whining as much about our obviously irreparable farm system (lol) if Groome had stayed healthy and Chavis had stayed off the drugs.

71 wins and the constant is the crying over our bullpen and our need for more starting pitching plus lots of other stuff. I think that it is important to try to get better but I am completely happy with this team but it is also evident that I have a problem with reality. Glad I do because I'm not ready to jump off any cliff anytime soon. Also, I don't even think about October baseball though until it gets here.

Saying that the farm system is depleted is correct - saying that it is toast is an opinion that I don't share. If I'm the one you are calling an ostrich. I don't really like that. I don't see things the way you do.
