  1. That is a great way to look at it.
  2. Pretty sure that DD will do what he feels is right for us. if Brasier and Thornburg continue on this path and he thinks they are the right guys, no one here should question him. he gets it. Once again, unless you acquire a Kimbrel look alike, relievers are just too unpredictable to go to any extremes to acquire. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
  3. Willie Mays continues to lead the way for me. The greatest complete player that I ever saw play the game. All Red Sox fans can just dream that anybody playing for us can get to his level of excellence. i really hope that Mookie is the one, time will tell.
  4. I think that it is always going to be a crapshoot with relievers unless you are willing to go after the next Kimbrel whoever he might be. it is obvious once again that we have the right guy doing the searching for us. I hope we never sign another journeyman dufous and hope that they can recapture past glory. With that in mind, I think that if we can't get just little excited about what we saw from Thornbug and Brasier last night then there is something wrong. Two power arms coming off serious injuries. if they are for real, we are fine. I also like very much what Valezquez has given us. It would be nice to have a power armed lefty coming out of the pen but until one falls from the sky probably won't happen. Not buying anymore Robbie Scott - sorry. I'm also over pretending that Joe Kelly is the guy you want in any high leverage situation, way to inconsistent for me. Maybe it is his brain and not his arm that troubles me. Still serves a purpose I just don't like him late in games.
  5. I love that memory too but what I love the most is your willingness to share those memories with us.
  6. Not sure I follow what you are saying here.
  7. That's a good way of looking at things.
  8. i think the post season format has changed so dramatically that this is crapshoot for sure. so many more games. mathewson koufax gibson hershiser ford/palmer
  9. That is the absolute truth. When these guys are stinking it up, they expect the criticism. That is part of being a passionate fan. The truth of the matter is that if they are any good they are harder on themselves than we can ever be. Saying you want the guy to get better doesn't mean you wanted him traded. There are certainly some f***ing dopes who post here but everybody should relax - we all love JBJ.
  10. I guess I just don't see it the same way regardless of the thread's name. Guess I 'll just speak for me. If he continues to hit, I would bet on him staying but if he doesn't they likely will listen to offers for him if there are any. I don't think the trade talk lights up to brightly for an outfielder who can't hit .200 regardless of how good he is defensively. I'm pretty sure that what I just said could get twisted around to say that I want him gone. That seems to be how it works here. That would be a joke. I don't care how much people rattle on about his talents, I'm just as big a fan of his as anybody else. I've been watching him just like you for a long time. I would love nothing more than to see that outfield together forever but it is a business. I hope he continues to improve at the plate. He is heading in the right direction.
  11. I think that it is a clear majority SS of people here are pulling for JBJ big time. We all get how valuable a defensive player he is. That is obvious to anybody who knows anything. Saying that you want him to hit better is not suggesting that you want him gone. It is good to start to see him hit. He needs to not just for himself but for his team as well.
  12. ??? What did I miss? Who's taking shots at him?
  13. Come on JBJ - here is hoping that he has in fact been listening and paying attention to the advice that he has been given otherwise known as coaching. If he hits just a little, what's not to love about that outfield. Having gold glover Martinez to back them up doesn't hurt!
  14. I hate the rules changes around the second base bag
  15. yup plus Happ's lazy ass play on ball in front of the plate.
  16. earned in one way - boys in the dugout caught it! tremendous
  17. tough tough team - starts right there in the dugout
  18. My guess - Our current GM knew exactly who the best fit for this team would be in JD Martinez. DD I think is that good plus he is an old horse trader.
  19. Clearly Max is your primary supporter here Moon. We all need support. I'm just kidding I kind of like reading what both of you post. I don't always agree but that is a good thing and neither of you is particularly stubborn. I like that. Admitting that you are wrong now and then or even suggesting that you might not always be right is an attribute. I'm wrong a lot so no problem for me. lol Plus the fact that I love communicating with people who actually lived through the times that I have.
  20. good guess right! I was 11 in in '62 - my best year of little league!
  21. I love this historical perspective. My grandfather was able to experience the earliest championships but obviously never saw another one. Like so many others, he loved that team and listened to every game of every season. My passion for the game came from him.
  22. What were you 10 then you young old coot?
