  1. Thanks for adding that you aren't disagreeing. i'm reluctant to actual name names because of the crap storm that it creates but hey. I think that Cora has proven that he is the guy for the job but I don't dislike John Farrell at all. I think that he is a quality guy. With respect to the others - Sandoval and Ramirez both. I do not like players like that . But also the only reason I liked Manny was because he could hit. I tend not to like players who need to have and require constant attention - look at me kind of guys. I'm one of those guys who just doesn't like to have fun all that much. Not really but fun to me is watching a very close knit group of guys who don't crave attention either by the way they look or the way they act. When Martinez was brought in not only did they get a hitter but a true professional as well. For the most part these guys have shut their mouths and gotten the job done. I think that there absolutely no chance that a player like Manny Machado will be in Boston no matter how good he is. They don't need people like him.
  2. I think that they have embraced that idea that some people have had about them - that they are the underdogs. Whatever it takes. A group like this really doesn't come along very often at all. Many years from now people will be talking about this group being the team they are. No one looking for any extra attention. They just want to play the game. The only real drama has been the drama created by the media.
  3. yup - and I'd even add Rudy Larusso to the list - you remember him don't you? I'd mention Rickie Mahorn but I'm afraid his mom would be giving me a call. lol
  4. Did I really think that Devers looked real good in the field last night? It was great to see that kid come up big. I also noticed a play where Bogaerts actually got rid of the ball faster than I have seen him get rid of it all season. No extra look into the glove - no extra tap tap - no extra wasted crow hop. Playing with some urgency is a good thing. Good for him.
  5. It will be interesting to see what happens with Eovaldi. 28 with a completely rebuilt and probably stronger arm than ever before. I certainly would like to see him come back. Can't stop replaying that fastball to Bregman to get him last night. 101.6!!! really - It was so dominant that it looked unfair.
  6. One of the huge keys to this season as far as I am concerned. They got rid of the losers and brought in the real winners. With this bunch it really is - "It's about us not me".
  7. I like and of course agree with this post. No one is going to say that the Astros don't have a couple of the best players in the game - I really have enjoyed Bregman. I particularly love how he plays the game. Altove is of course playing hurt but still is certainly one of the best in the game. But we also have 2 or 3 of the best players in the game plus the rest of our guys - I will continue to think that they are the best team in baseball until someone comes close to proving this wrong.
  8. I'm really kind of glad though Max that you don't speak for me. lol
  9. um - because we aren't John Henry.(notin just a little kidding here)
  10. my oh my you youngsters just keep on keepin on!
  11. I didn't crawl in until 1:30 (which is a recent record for me by the way) and when you reach my state of "maturity" sometimes it doesn't matter when you hit the sack you still wake up at the same time - 5:00 max. Slasher can you work some of your magic and speed this game up a bit tonight?
  12. Thankfully for you it is your belly button that is doing the puckering.
  13. Thanks for this - it was getting sickening.
  14. i'm loving me some brasier right now just like everybody else but I have a question - Is he ok or is he just naturally cockeyed? As peculiar as Kimbrel looks when he is taking signs, he's got nothing on Brasier.
  15. I think that New England fans are nervous by nature and then you add in the Kimbrel drama and anything goes I guess. I look at this differently. This is a different team with some significantly different people. I'll admit that yes I get a little nervous but I can't help thinking what it must feel like to be an Astros fan right about now. I expect our guys to win. I am not surprised by this at all. As a matter of fact although maybe it seems unlikely, I would not really be surprised if things get wrapped up tonight. We are seeing something special here. The Red Sox are winning more often than everyone else because they are better than everyone else. Yes I do think think they are better than the Astros.
  16. I agree with the assessment that you agree with. West obviously saw interference. I'm guessing that that is what caused him to make the immediate call. He certainly was in no position to definitively tell without replay that the fan broke the plane. In his best judgement, betts makes the play if no interference is called. On a play like that, is there anyone who is that good that they could tell precisely where the fan's arms were located. Like it or not, his job is to make a call not to wait a while and think about it. Mookie was not allowed to complete the play due to interference. It was the right call. It was the job of the replay to determine who was where when the play occurred. Kind of obvious that it was really too close to call on that one.
  17. it was clearly interfered with - looks to me like the only question was did Mookie break the plane? I saw no angle that could verify that he did. I think that West had to make that call. what else could he have done just ignore it? The reason that call doesn't get made very often is because it doesn't happen very often. Tough to be the fan!
  18. A special special play. No quit! great team
  19. Barnes n the hill tomorrow - lets go
  20. I'm just not getting the move. Don't they have to play tomorrow? if this works, i still won't get it.
  21. more runs needed - more more more
  22. Imagine me sitting here thinking that maybe somebody in that dugout might have tried to cushion Pearce's fall.
  23. more runs needed
  24. JBJ - You have got to be kidding. I think he saved himself for right now!
  25. hmm - kind of what I thought you would say. You are right about one thing - it doesn't matter.
