  1. Based on many of the comments that I read here, if you took a vote it might come out 51-49. People tolerate Cora because we are winning, but really you think the brilliant minds that we see here everyday would ever just say that Cora is a better baseball guy than they might be. Come on Bellhorn, you know better.
  2. !!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. that's one of the reasons why i like cora. he gets it. take advantage of a blend of all to make it work.
  4. Thinking about it in a serious way, are there really people here who think that he has any chance of ending up in Boston. Take a look at this current team. Think about the players that have been brought in. Doesn't make any difference how good he is - too much baggage - I say 0 chance (hope I'm right).
  5. Pedroia gets no free pass from me. Regardless of how tough people think he is or how hard he plays, i don't think that you would see one player on this team dong what he did. That's about it. hey - he was very good for sure and I get why some say don't ever count him out but we did just fine without him and if I had to bet that is likely how we will operate going forward - without him and that is ok with me.
  6. which knee was it that you hurt once again Manny? The other one - ok.
  7. You know what - as good as Mookie is in the field we still expect him to be that guy at the plate everytime he gets up but I have to say that that throw he made to nail kemp at second base was a game changer. You just don't see better throws than that one. I'd also add that even though we want our catchers to hit a little better they were in no way over shadowed by what his name behind the plate for the Astros. he was supposed to provide them with an advantage over our guys. he did not- Our two catchers really did play well. Hats off to them.
  8. I hate google. It has a way of messing up some of my greatest memories about all the things I misremember!
  9. i like eovaldi as a starting pitcher too much to stick him in the pen full time
  10. Let's hear it for Baltimore right ss. The good news is that these guys don't seem to care that much about the naysayers. It seems to motivate them. Eovaldi - 101.6 last night to Bregman. For such a great player have to say he was over matched in that at bat.
  11. I don't think there is any question about pitcher's careers being shortened back in the day. It is a big money issue now obviously.
  12. We do disagree with Manny a little I guess but I have to say he was one of the all time great right handed hitters. I just saw him as being someone who required too much work. I respect how you feel about him and thanks for not going all pyscho on me for expressing a very unpopular opinion on here. It is the way people should communicate I think.
  13. That was a classic. I almost lost control and had another beer (not unusual) when i saw 96 pop up on the gun. I'm pulling hard for him.
  14. You done good. Though I have to tell you I am one of the most naive older people that you could meet.
  15. now that is a good one. I'm feeling younger and younger.
  16. How did you know they are one in the same?
  17. Thanks for adding that you aren't disagreeing. i'm reluctant to actual name names because of the crap storm that it creates but hey. I think that Cora has proven that he is the guy for the job but I don't dislike John Farrell at all. I think that he is a quality guy. With respect to the others - Sandoval and Ramirez both. I do not like players like that . But also the only reason I liked Manny was because he could hit. I tend not to like players who need to have and require constant attention - look at me kind of guys. I'm one of those guys who just doesn't like to have fun all that much. Not really but fun to me is watching a very close knit group of guys who don't crave attention either by the way they look or the way they act. When Martinez was brought in not only did they get a hitter but a true professional as well. For the most part these guys have shut their mouths and gotten the job done. I think that there absolutely no chance that a player like Manny Machado will be in Boston no matter how good he is. They don't need people like him.
  18. I think that they have embraced that idea that some people have had about them - that they are the underdogs. Whatever it takes. A group like this really doesn't come along very often at all. Many years from now people will be talking about this group being the team they are. No one looking for any extra attention. They just want to play the game. The only real drama has been the drama created by the media.
  19. yup - and I'd even add Rudy Larusso to the list - you remember him don't you? I'd mention Rickie Mahorn but I'm afraid his mom would be giving me a call. lol
  20. Did I really think that Devers looked real good in the field last night? It was great to see that kid come up big. I also noticed a play where Bogaerts actually got rid of the ball faster than I have seen him get rid of it all season. No extra look into the glove - no extra tap tap - no extra wasted crow hop. Playing with some urgency is a good thing. Good for him.
  21. It will be interesting to see what happens with Eovaldi. 28 with a completely rebuilt and probably stronger arm than ever before. I certainly would like to see him come back. Can't stop replaying that fastball to Bregman to get him last night. 101.6!!! really - It was so dominant that it looked unfair.
  22. One of the huge keys to this season as far as I am concerned. They got rid of the losers and brought in the real winners. With this bunch it really is - "It's about us not me".
  23. I like and of course agree with this post. No one is going to say that the Astros don't have a couple of the best players in the game - I really have enjoyed Bregman. I particularly love how he plays the game. Altove is of course playing hurt but still is certainly one of the best in the game. But we also have 2 or 3 of the best players in the game plus the rest of our guys - I will continue to think that they are the best team in baseball until someone comes close to proving this wrong.
  24. I'm really kind of glad though Max that you don't speak for me. lol
  25. um - because we aren't John Henry.(notin just a little kidding here)
