  1. I still would understand if someone felt it was a catch, I was just having a hard time understanding why anyone would feel that there wasn't at least a chance after watching the video. I'm not sure that your take is wrong but thanks for being able to understand that there might be another way to look at it. With respect to the sound well I am an avid golfer. I play many many rounds each year. I hit a ton of balls and I have to say I really do think I know what the sound of a hard object hitting metal sounds like maybe even better than some people. I really think that if that ball hit his glove first the sound would have felt like I hit a ball with a mitten over my driver.
  2. It is why I like you on here even if you still really think that it was a catch.
  3. it magically disappeared from the weei website but greenwell found it and posted it. I'm not surprised at all that it was called a catch but there really is a chance that it wasn't. it would have been a shame if the better team had lost the game due to that particular play. Hey look I know that you weren't directing your comment to me. Sorry but you have to understand that I have been soundly admonished on here - damn near spanked- because I suggested that a discussion of Chris Sale in 2018 should not include what the Sox might be offering to keep him in for me what is the not so near future. With that in my my friend ( I bet that you would be actually even though we do disagree from time to time - You'd get a kick out of someone like me) I'm just going to keep jumping in to any conversation that I want to - so there!!!! lololololol
  4. click on the one that green well posted and objectively tell me what you think. I'm pretty sure that it wasn't conclusive enough to overturn but based on what I'm seeing I have some serious doubt that it isn't questionable and that anyone can simply say that they absolutely positive that it was a catch. Don't misunderstand me, I'm ok with being wrong but I do think that it is likely that that ball hit the wall first.
  5. No bw ss likely wouldn't but I might. I'm really glad that we don't have the guy but he isn't the first nor will he be the last "dirty player" to play the game. I just don't like him but what the hell I lost a lot of respect for Pedroia last year as well. I would never condone doing anything to harm another player intentionally but even though some people scoff at and want to see the "unwritten rules" of baseball eliminated, I think that they will always be practiced. At some point in time Machado will experience payback. He is going to have to live with that and with himself for dong what he does.
  6. I'm with you all the way on #3. It even seems to me that the team doing the broadcasting has the Astros on a certain elevated level as well. Perhaps they have earned it but if anyone thinks that this Sox team is lucky to be up 2 games to 1 in this series, got a newsflash - the Red Sox ain't too bad!
  7. That is so very true. Being stupid although perhaps not fixable is not a crime that creates a punishable offense.
  8. It isn't important but the thought that it hit the wall first should not be simply brushed off. My thought last night when I saw that catch was that of something very hard hitting some very hard metal does not make that sound. It confused me. The video I think pretty much shows that in slow motion it hit the wall first.
  9. I would never fault the umpires for making that call or for the most part any of the others that they make. My fault is with the blind obsession that video replay always gets it right. It doesn't.
  10. Thanks for posting this. You and I clearly saw what we saw.
  11. Ok pardon the language but who really gives a flying f*** whether the Astros were trying to steal signs? Does anybody think that that doesn't happen. It happens in almost every game played at every level. If they weren't trying to steal signs, it wouldn't be normal. It doesn't appear that they had an illegal device hidden anywhere within the domain of the Red Sox. The only reason that this becomes news in New England is because there are actually still people out there who think that Tom Brady is the only QB in the history of the game who tampers with footballs before games are played. I can't help but think of all of the times in my baseball days that while I was taking my lead of the bag, it was my job to let our man at the plate know what the next pitch would be. Most of the time we tried and most of the time we were wrong.
  12. We won so no issue. Did you see the slow mo video that I saw? It hit the wall. Maybe the replay police don't like it when it seems apparent that even they can make mistakes.
  13. Man I hope you are right - It gets a new thread because cp - hubby hubba I 've been trying to find the video that was posted this morning but it seems to have disappeared. Is this a case of real news being squashed by fake news? lol For the record, at the time even though I was troubled by the sound, I thought that it was a great catch. Watching the slow motion video says it wasn't. Didn't the sound of the play bother you a little?
  14. I must be the only person who saw the video of that catch in slow motion posted by weei this morning when i got up. If the video I saw was some sort of fake then someone did one hell of a job. I slow motion the ball hit the wall first. Not a big deal - we won.
  15. Before you 100% me on anything you ought to at least take a look at the video posted this morning. If that doesn't show you or anyone else that that ball came of the wall first, then ok I get it.
  16. Last night the boys in the booth begrudgingly had to give some credit to the Red Sox. it is clear where their unbiased sentiments lie but I think that they do realize that our guys aren't bad. I've now watched the supposed catch of Pearce's shot off the wall in left a few times now as well. Kind of proof that replay doesn't get it right all of the time either I guess. Would have been a shame if the better team had not won that game with a blown replay call.
  17. Eovaldi has a rebuilt arm. he is a young man who could have a very good career (maybe not great) going forward. Concerns about his being susceptible to injury are over rated. I like him.
  18. Oh you would have taken it well plus you would have gotten a good laugh also. It was a good rant - lots of good old fashioned colorful language too. lol zing - zing - zing
  19. He really had about as much chance of throwing out Correa on that grounball as nothing. The way he played it made him look foolish and opened himself up to all of the critics who don't think he is much of a shortstop. He fielded the ball - looked down into his glove at it- tapped once before he set his feel to throw it. 0 sense of urgency! not good! Once again though it would not have mattered. Correa could have crawled down the line and beaten him if he had actually made a better effort. i love the guy but was not impressed with his effort factor on that one.
  20. Slasher - I had a great response to you but slow internet tonight meant that it did not get posted. It is just as well since it was shamefully naughty and very much out of character for someone as serious as I am. If it had gone through, I was going to have to claim that someone had hacked my account and was posing as me. Oh well - the moment has gone and now I'm all calmed down. Yup you can just consider me a super Sale fan I guess.
  21. I agree
  22. Hey notin - we agree on something. i never said that the Red Sox should pony up a 6 or 7 year deal for Sale. They might but I doubt it. I think that many free agents are signed to lengthy contracts the look outrageously bad in there latter years. If you are mega rich and can get 4 very good years and couple of scratchers - yup somebody would bite on that especially if those very good ones are similar to what Chris Sale has given to date. At some point everyone slows down we know that but at what point is the question. If you think, like you might, that this is the beginning of a slow decline for Chris Sale, I think that there are plenty on board who would agree. I don't but that doesn't matter. I don't think that he is quite ready for the old folk's joint just yet.
  23. He's probably reading this thread as we speak and is so turned off by this forum that he is ready to just jump ship. He might be even considering retirement since his demise is now imminent. He is 30 - too damn old for us. lol
  24. ty moon - Actually I was talking about Larry (wink wink)
  25. Come on notin, how did you know that that was directed at you? Am I that obvious?
