  1. jax has a pair of glasses with rose-colored pinstripes he wears when he looks at them.
  2. However, if someone wanted to go through your team one player at a team, they could find something negative about all of them except Cole and perhaps LeMahieu. And you've already got some injury losses with Britton and Voit and possibly Wilson. Kluber and Taillon are keys, and I believe they are on innings limits. And obviously there are injury concerns there. Garcia flamed out in his latter spring games and was demoted. Sevy? Who knows when or how good he'll be.
  3. You are really coming at us with a vengeance this year. It's almost enough to make me wish for the Yankees to have unexpected difficulties and for the Jays to take the division...
  4. E-Rod threw 36 pitches in the bullpen yesterday and said he felt good.
  5. moon doesn't like his conventional numbers for the last two seasons. Apparently he's got lots of company.
  6. We lost Beni, a .273 hitter, and JBJ, a .239 hitter, and we gained Verdugo, a .290 hitter. So how can it be zero pieces? A little negativity is understandable, but let's try to at least be a little reasonable...
  7. E-Rod's dead arm and Barnes testing positive for COVID have knocked some of the optimism out of me, I must say. When you have as little depth as we do, every loss is magnified.
  8. They're going cheap in some areas this year, no argument there. One thing that's slightly puzzling is why they haven't entertained the idea of Kike in center. As moon has pointed out, his defensive numbers there are very good.
  9. JBJ and Beni had holes in their games in 2019.
  10. Starting to look like your idea of putting Kike in CF makes more sense than anything.
  11. Afraid I may have jinxed him a bit.
  12. Yes, it's baffling that no one has signed him. Wish we would.
  13. Yes, his willingness to take a walk is a big difference-maker. Hard not to be excited about this guy.
  14. Within limits, of course.
  15. Plus a .396 OBP in spring games.
  16. "Generating more heat than light" - I've never heard this before, but it's a good one.
  17. Moises was the fielder on the infamous Bartman play.
  18. When I thought of this, I made a list of all the blood relatives I could think of, from every team. I tried to do it without looking any of them up, unless it was to verify if someone ever played in a major league game. To qualify, you only need to have played in one. Then I realized that if I put up the whole list it would be kind of hogging the thread. So instead I'll just give my list that includes at least one Red Sox player. Fathers and sons, and brothers, obviously. We also have to include grandfathers and sons, for the sake of a certain Red Sox Hall of Famer. Cousins? I think there have been a few, but I couldn't think of them. Anyway, sure, why not. Dom DiMaggio - Joe DiMaggio (HOF) Ken Brett - George Brett (HOF) Carl Yastrzemski (HOF) - Mike Yastrzemski Tony Conigliaro - Billy Conigliaro - played on team at same time Dante Bichette - Bo Bichette Pedro Martinez (HOF) - Ramon Martinez - played on team at same time Jeremy Giambi - Jason Giambi JD Drew - Stephen Drew - both played on Red Sox Daniel Bard - Luke Bard One I had to look up was Papelbon. I wasn't sure if Josh ever pitched in the majors. I found out he didn't. I also found out there was another brother, Jeremy who pitched in the minors.
  19. Apparently Cora was asked by Massarotti what happened to Beni between 2018 and 2019, that was what prompted this answer. I don't think he was bad-mouthing Beni, just giving his take on the weight gain.
  20. I'd rather have them both.
  21. If Sale looked like his normal self at the end of 2018, most would have loved the extension. Injury worries tend to dampen enthusiasm. And some of it is 20/20 hindsight, methinks.
  22. Sale's deferred money knocked the present value down to 128 mill. That makes it pretty similar.
  23. The saddest words of tongue and pen - "What might have been."
  24. I predict the name change pays off for Thaddeus.
