  1. It may not be what you want to hear, but Valdez and Taylor are moving up Cora's confidence ladder, as we saw yesterday.
  2. It's not all about the innings, though. Barnes has pitched 4 more innings than Ottavino, but faced 4 fewer batters.
  3. Bradley was a highly-touted homegrown prospect. Cordero was a mystery man tossed into a trade in which we got 4 other properties.
  4. That particular poster never adds much to the game threads.
  5. Corey Seager has a fractured hand. Horrible. An injury like that is career-threatening.
  6. I feel a little badly for Trout. He should be on the Red Sox.
  7. Sale is an ace. Our 5 guys are all pitching like solid number 2's or 3's. A few years ago I realized that when fans talk about 'aces', the names they raise are almost invariably Hall of Fame shoo-ins or candidates. "Justin Verlander, now that guy's an ace." "No freaking kidding there, Sherlock."
  8. I think it was brilliant of the team to have Dalbec in the 9 spot from the get-go. It's like they anticipated he was going to have some early struggles and this gave him the best chance of finding his stroke with the minimal amount of heat on him.
  9. Technically, that's true, but the real pressure on the leadoff hitter is that he's supposed to be the guy who gets on base for the run producers behind him.
  10. When Ellsbury was struggling at leadoff Tito would move him to the 9 spot and he'd catch fire. It does seem to take some pressure off the hitter.
  11. How the heck is anyone supposed to know who would be fatigued by adding 2 IP? The whole reason they allowed teams to carry 14 pitchers was because of COVID. Nobody really knows how the abbreviated 2020 season will affect pitchers' stamina. Right now, Whitlock will be missing a few days because of a bad reaction to his second vaccine shot. There's a lot of crap that hasn't been dealt with before.
  12. And Sawamura may very well replace Andriese in that role. Or Andriese may get back on form. It's the nature of the game to have ups and downs.
  13. The team went into the season with more faith in Andriese for that role. If he continues to struggle, they will shuffle things. It's nothing we haven't seen before.
  14. Good pun with Judge and jury.
  15. The bottom line is, fans are impatient, whiny pricks, whose opinions are rightfully and thankfully ignored by team management.
  16. Taylor has pitched better recently than DHern so it made sense to give DHern the work yesterday. There really is some logic in how they make the pitching choices.
  17. I think I must be seeing double.
  18. Of course. A lot of fans are instant gratification junkies.
  19. Kluber's K rate is also down and BB rate also up.
  20. With much better defense though.
  21. So glad I don't participate in fantasy team stuff. Being a fan of the actual Red Sox team messes up my head enough as it is.
  22. Peripheral stats indicate that Eovaldi and E-Rod are in the race too. The overall stats for our 5 starters right now are excellent. I can't remember too many Red Sox teams where all 5 starters were pitching well like this.
  23. I think the team has handled Dalbec's early struggles beautifully and now he's going to be a force. And Renfroe has really been stepping up too.
  24. I'm liking the way you're talking.
  25. Was Splinter being mean to AC again?
