    The "problem" for the 2021 Sox is that you have to do this while also trying to win games, which can limit your "situational flexibility".

    Dalbec has now played about half a full season in the bigs. He has 17 HR and a .482 SLG. Isn't that a guy you're willing to give some rope?

    But they've also been working with Dalbec on his swing and it seems to have yielded some positive results.

    I don't consider Cordero washed up. But I think the team has handled both him and Dalbec properly.

    My position is that I trust the guys who run the team and not the fans. For the guys who run the team it's their everyday job to figure this stuff out. And overall I think they do a good job. That's not a knock on your opinion or anyone else's. I don't think I know any more or less than anyone else here. We're all just fans who know how to read Baseball-Reference.

    The point is that guys who look like bums in the majors look like stars in Worcester. If they call up Duran and he stinks his first week, how much patience do you think Sox fans will have with him? That's a rhetorical question. We all know the answer is zero.

    Oh yeah, he's doing a terrible job, what with us being in first place, after some had us losing 90 games.

    If you put Verdugo at leadoff, who hits second? The only way you can do it is move them all up a spot. The 4 of them are all having career years or close to it. Maybe Cora doesn't want to f*** with that. He's the manager and he has more at stake in this than any of us do.

    A lot of teams will be in on Scherzer. The Nats should get back a pretty good package. Not sure we have one that can compete. I don't think it's Bloom's style, really.

    The bottom line on the Yanks is that they are far from dead, because of their individual talent. Hell, I think we have to play each other 16 more times, isn't it?

    True, but Dalbec is also playing first base, which is supposed to be an offensive position. So a lot of fans have been screaming for his replacement at various points.

    Agree with all that. It's just that OPS has become such a 'go-to' stat.
