  1. He's starting tomorrow. Maybe his final 'hurrah'.
  2. Gotcha. Yes, it's a squeeze.
  3. Kimmi specified 'starting staff'.
  4. I think he starts at first right away. Sink or swim, buddy.
  5. I think they are last among all the teams in the playoff picture, though?
  6. I'm not going to knock Bloom about the deadline. I know his resources were limited. I am however disappointed in not acquiring a starting pitcher. What's kind of funny in retrospect is all the excitement that got temporarily stirred up about Red Sox ownership 'pushing for Scherzer'. As it turned out it was a joke to think we had any chance. I wonder if that rumor was real.
  7. Not much time for easing, especially with his health status.
  8. Nope. Schwarber will be playing first.
  9. You prefer Lansford to Bagwell?
  10. It might seem like years, Hugh, but we're actually 2 days short of the first anniversary of the trade. As for him not wanting to stay here, there are tantalizing nuggets that indicate it was a possibility. Mookie said he came close to accepting an earlier extension offer. And the reports say he did make a counter-offer to the last extension offer, and the Red Sox did not respond to it.
  11. I never meant to get on your ass about anything. My attitude has always been I trust Bloom and Cora to handle things as well as possible. Some of us wanted to give Kike more time to get it going, and he did. Some of us were skeptical about Duran's ability to step right in and rake MLB pitching, and that appears justified. Aside from Duran, there weren't many internal options to improve the offense.
  12. I think Schwarber will play first, and Dalbec will be confined to some starts against lefties and fill-ins.
  13. Yet another superb performance by Whitlock last night. Sure would be nice to see him start 2022 in the rotation.
  14. And the Yankees seemed like the most snake-bitten team of all time for a while there. For another animal metaphor, Cashman was like a cornered rat before the deadline, and he came out biting with Gallo and Rizzo.
  15. Erod is the guy. If he doesn't get it going again, it's deep doo-doo.
  16. Moyer is a mind-boggler. Boston was just one quick stop on his travels.
  17. This is just an exercise on the best players the Red Sox traded away.
  18. If that was the case I'd have to dump Manny. It was more like an "Exercise to Kill Time With Red Sox Trivia".
  19. It's a long freakin' season. Some teams get written off and then rise from the dead. Other teams soar like eagles and then get shot down.
  20. Amazingly ominous deadline day and weekend. The Rays, Yankees and Jays all going 3-0 while the Red Sox go 0-3.
  21. Mild disagreements: -JDM being around for 2022 is not a 'nightmare scenario'. It's one more year and the Red Sox are a rich team. -It's not really a 'blind spot' for Dalbec. They thought they could get reasonable production out of a guy who's being paid minimum wage, which made sense considering their payroll concerns.
  22. They've played good baseball most of the time. It's just our starting pitching that's been letting us down.
  23. They were playing the Rays.
