  1. Holy smoke! We're actually playing the White Sox and it's the third of a four game series. But far be it from me to mess with the mojo man of the moment.
  2. I think the Red Sox front office has done a great job lowering our expectations.
  3. Not sure who is the real underdog in this game.
  4. None of us have any idea what's going on with Devers's shoulders. But he has a .684 OPS and only 1 home run in 20 games. Sure doesn't seem like he's fully operational.
  5. Don't coaches have annual contracts? I honestly don't know.
  6. How does it save the team money?
  7. OTOH pulling themselves off the mat and winning the last 2 against the Rays showed something. I'll just go with Parcells here: we are exactly what our record says.
  8. Personally I think next offseason could be ugly, with a CBA battle/lockout looming. Not to mention the economy might be in the tank...
  9. Sure, but it's kind of an instant logic fail that when he got no 200 million offers this year at age 31, he's going to get them next year when he's 32...
  10. Sure he will. He'll be a year older but twice as good!
  11. Doesn't walk that much though.
  12. So in this last series we scored 9 (average 3.00 per game, lousy), gave up 20 (average 6.67 per game, lousy) but won 2 out of 3. Just another reminder that in baseball the data is derived from the games, but the games aren't derived from the data.
  13. We've only played poorly half the time! Hopefully we're not exactly like the 2024 Even Stevens.
  14. Good thing Breg's leave didn't start yesterday - it would have cost a W for sure!
  15. Pregnancy timing could be the difference between making the playoffs and not.
  16. I find it hard to summon much optimism about Giolito.
  17. I think Vegas's over/under of 86.5 wins was eminently fair.
  18. Duran starting to produce would be a big boost to the offense.
  19. I'll take your word on the first one but the second one might not stand up to scrutiny.
  20. It's certainly a valid argument. To me Casas makes a good test case because he's a young hitter who seemed to have a great approach when he came up but now seems to have badly regressed.
  21. I think it's all part of the same issue - a lousy approach.
  22. In Game 10 the Sox scored 18 runs. In the 8 games since they've scored 15 - 2 of them in extra innings.
  23. He has a career OPS+ of 120. But his fielding has been terrible and now he also looks terrible at the plate. Yuck.
