I really don't think it was the team's intent to give up on 2021. Nobody saw this kind of slide coming. Expectations of adding Sale/Houck/Schwarber/Arroyo etc.
It's always about the W's and L's. A stretch like this with too many L's makes fans sour on everything from the owner down to the ballboy/girl/person, and full of opinions on what should have been done and who f***ed up.
Yeah, but that doesn't change the fact that our best relievers just didn't get it done the last 2 games.
Sometimes guys just don't perform.
That's a completely separate issue from the lack of deadline moves, which disappointed me as well.
We should have won the last 2 games, needless to say, with 7-2 and 4-1 leads. And we blew them with our best relievers on the mound. There's not much management can do about that.
Yes, the idea was to shorten games, and the same with the 7 inning doubleheader games.
These were temporary rules they put in because of COVID-19.
Maybe they went overboard, but I think the reason behind them was a valid one.
