No, it's better than that. The Red Sox have team options for 2027 and 2028, which would be his first two years of free agency. And the buyouts for the two years are small. You have to dig into the details of it.

The Red Sox have now lost 8 regular season games in a row to the Yanks. Fortunately we had a playoff win wedged in there LOL The Red have lost 5 games in a row going back to last year's ALCS.

Both wrong. Our bullpen did not pitch 6 innings. They pitched 5 innings, or "5 innings plus", as it's sometimes put.

Some other team probably offered Diekman 2 years and $7.5 million. My disappointment was not signing McHugh for a couple mill more. -

Going into yesterday's game, DJ had a career OPS of .707 against the Red Sox, and 5 homers in 306 PA's. So it's not like he's been teeing off on us.

I guess it's because saves and blown saves seem like simple stats. Denny is not wrong that having a strong bullpen and preserving leads are important, more than ever. But the stats themselves are f**d up.

There's a lot of random crap involved in it, too. In the 10th inning the Yankees pen gave up one run and we gave up one run, but we get the blown save. Why? Because the game was in their park.
