  1. I think you're right, it makes sense because of the innings limit.
  2. All regulars have scheduled rest days now. The Yankees do it too and their fans bitch like crazy too. The idea is that over the long haul it keeps guys fresher down the stretch and hopefully in the playoffs.
  3. OK, so when would be the "good" time to sit Bogey? Let's say he played yesterday. Even if we won we're still only 9 and 11. So if he sat out tonight's game, there'd still be a lot of bitching.
  4. That's exactly what I expect from sports fans who share their views in a public forum. They spend a huge chunk of their time complaining about something. There were many fans who bitched about Francona's management a lot too. And he only won two World Series with us. And Cora, well, he's only won one, and been to the sixth game of the ALCS in one of his other two full seasons.
  5. Bogaerts had a hamstring issue early in the season, so maybe that played into it. I do understand why resting good players, especially when hot, is frustrating. But I think they plan this stuff out at the start of the season, and to deviate from it would be like panicking. The Jays sat Vlad today. He fouled a ball off his foot last game but finished the game. So they were being cautious, I guess. The bottom line is our offense is in an incredible slump. I have my own whipping boy, by the way. Fatse must go!
  6. A bunch of guys named Wright, so cross that one off the list.
  7. I shudder to say it, but I guess I have to Aaron Judge
  8. How about some virtuous names? Patrick Wisdom And of course Rick Wise of Red Sox fame.
  9. I think this board is dominated by grumpy old man types, but there's not much I can do about that either.
  10. He keeps pitching well no matter how they use him, so I don't really see any negative effects on him.
  11. The modern philosophy of resting players is what it is. If fans had their way a guy like Bogey would never miss a game. Anyway, if we only have one guy who can hit, we're screwed.
  12. But the only guy Cora sat was Bogey.
  13. But as others have pointed out, what happens if the team falls behind 4 or 5 games in a row? It's not easy to plan for him to have those meaningful 4 inning stretches at the end of games and space them out nicely so he gets his days of rest...
  14. This I can 100% agree with.
  15. Lots of guys who signed big deals this offseason are off to slow starts. Seager and Semien got $500 million between them and aren't doing much yet. That's baseball.
  16. Jeezus. It's a little early to call it a bad deal.
  17. So complain when they don't sign anybody, and then complain when they do sign somebody. Makes perfect sense.
  18. The first interesting thing I notice is that you didn't post Renfroe's numbers. Nor did you mention the two prospects we got in the deal. You probably should have left out that transaction completely.
  19. He's been resting guys like this since he got here.
  20. Boone was also responsible for the Yankees signing A-Rod.
  21. The New Quality, that is.
  22. You can say the same about every manager now.
  23. What about lawn darts?
  24. And then we trade Renfroe for Bradley. A net result of many confused fans and a pile of prospects...
