  1. 150 IP of relief might be asking too much. The days of rest between outings would be hard to manage.
  2. So NESN was wrong.
  3. Has anyone ever had a better doubleheader than Nate Colbert did for the Padres on August 1, 1972? Probably not. Game 1 4 for 5, 3 runs, 2 HR, 5 RBI Game 2 3 for 4 + a walk, 4 runs, 3 HR, 8 RBI Total 7 for 10 + a walk, 7 runs, 5 HR, 13 RBI
  4. With 20/20 hindsight, I love the 2013 rotation.
  5. The 2013 rotation was loaded with ifs.
  6. Sure you are LOL
  7. Wait that long to do what?
  8. We have a team ERA of 3.66. Guess what? It's our offense that's killing us.
  9. The fact is if Bloom signed Gausman we'd be liking it right now. If he signed E-Rod or Stroman the moaning and groaning would be brutal and we'd be talking about how much of our payroll was tied up in useless junk.
  10. Schilling and some other pretty good pitchers never won a Cy Young award either.
  11. He was only on 2 days rest though, they were probably hoping to use him for a save. Plus Valdez was great until yesterday.
  12. I'd say they're building toward him starting right now. Also, he's been a savior in a few games out of the pen. It's not like he's been wasted in meaningless outings. Every one of them has been important.
  13. Maybe so. But we all know the Rays have done well with their openers and bullpen games. It is what it is. The game has changed.
  14. Do you count Roenicke?
  15. Valdez picked a bad time for his first poor outing.
  16. I'm not brimming with confidence either. Sometimes you need things to go differently than you expect them to go LOL
  17. What you said was Also, you can add pieces during the season- like Eovaldi and Pearce in 2018, to put you over the top, so no, you don't have to be one of the best to start the season. The last part makes no sense in the context of your argument.
  18. Hill vs. McClanahan Let's score some runs and win.
  19. The Rays trotted out an "opener" again last night, and it seemed to work.
  20. LOL wut? I hope you're not implying that Cora is dumb because Whitlock hasn't been officially anointed as a starter yet.
  21. Not very well expressed, because we were one of the best to start the 2018 season.
  22. moon believes you have to be one of the top teams on paper at the start of the year. He just has a different philosophy.
  23. He could easily find himself swapped to the pen. He had a good year last year, but his contract status and patchy pedigree makes him fungible.
  24. Whitlock and Houck should both be in the rotation.
  25. All options are open.
