    I think Ref should get every available AB against lefty pitchers. His OPS against righties is .703 this year and falling. It's .602 for his career. Giving him a steady diet of righties is a good way to eliminate his usefulness altogether.

    No, but I thought you were somewhat opposed to placing too much reliance on small samples. Ref's sample is small and almost certain to regress. I'm also not sure why you've given up on Verdugo. He's been one of our better hitters the last two months.

    "Only on here". No, that's not really true. I have a Globe subscription, and Bloom is certainly taking a lot of heat there, but he also has his supporters. It's kind of a joke when someone posts minor transactions like this one and people make a big fuss over it.

    Buck's great baseball mind went to sleep in the Wild Card game against the Jays a few years ago when he didn't use his closer. He's one of those guys who gets off to a great start with teams but wears out his welcome.
