  1. The Jays' Matt Chapman's play at third base is a thing of beauty. Amazing fielder.
  2. They got the 2 prospects and I'm sure they were hoping for better than a .555 OPS. I see no reason they would feel committed to bringing him back for 2023. As I said if they exercise the buyout it doesn't affect this year's tax number. And obviously it would wipe him completely off the payroll slate for 2023. I'm disappointed, I was hoping for some bounce-back, but hope is running out.
  3. If things continue like this, I think they might just eat the $8 mill, which is already factored into the tax numbers.
  4. I guess it depends on what you call a pushover. To me a team that's won 46% of their games would not fall in that category.
  5. I think a .600 OPS is the new Mendoza line. JBJ is at .555.
  6. Yeah, that was interesting.
  7. That didn't affect his AAV for tax purposes though, just the cash part.
  8. I've read several possible explanations. 1) It's much harder than it looks to go the other way, especially with so many pitchers throwing in the high 90's. 2) Hitters are afraid of messing up their swings. 3) Instead of going the other way hitters are going with launch angle, which has led to more homers and more K's.
  9. OK, you're being fair then. If the season ended today, I'd rate the Red Sox chances of beating the Jays at 35-40%. But needless to say I'm hoping things look differently by the actual playoffs.
  10. How do you rate the Yankees' chances of winning it all this year?
  11. About 50/50.
  12. You have a habit of contradicting yourself. You keep spouting about how much you hate the word "if" and then you want to talk about "if the Sox play the Jays in the playoffs".
  13. I had two jabs, eventually got COVID but the symptoms were not as severe as cases of flu I've had. And that seems to have been the general experience of others I know who got vaxed and then got COVID.
  14. I thought you see no point in speculating about things that may not happen, Jaded.
  15. Everything we say here holds zero weight. What's your point?
  16. Yeah, "if the season ended today" is a pretty commonly used expression, Jaded. Sorry the word "if" gets on your nerves like that.
  17. There's not much question that Houck's decision put this one in the loss column.
  18. Cora believes heavily in matchups, of course, and Strahm and Diekman were not good matchups against the Jays RH power.
  19. Cora also wanted Schreiber available for tonight's game. So he let Danish pitch the 8th against weaker hitters, and that part worked. He was handcuffed by only having one good right handed reliever.
  20. If Scheiber pitched the 7th and 8th you're still left with Danish and Robles to pitch the 9th. Nothing wrong with questioning the moves, but I think Cora had legit reasons for what he did.
  21. Right, but Schreiber couldn't pitch the 7th, 8th and 9th. Cora did what he could, but Houck's absence killed him.
  22. Cora said he wanted Schreiber in the 7th to face the meat of the Jays order.
  23. You could certainly be right. It's all guesswork at this point.
