  1. They're playing pretty well.
  2. I'm not sure it's really a "big need", compared to our pitching needs.
  3. I'm not sure where the good stats for relievers are, though. Shutdown/Meltdown?
  4. Schwarbs was and is a significantly better hitter at this point in their careers.
  5. I agree, ability to pay it is not the issue.
  6. Well, starting with our "Save Percentage" which shows as 50%, tied for worst in MLB with the Rays.
  7. I guess I would need to see some meaningful statistical comparisons to other bullpens to really judge. The "Team Relief Pitching" stats on B-R make our pen look terrible, but they're pretty wonky-looking stats.
  8. I'm afraid we've lost mvp to a sad little dream world where the season is 150 games and Mookie still patrols right field for us...
  9. The pen has the potential to be good by the end of the season, with additions like Schreiber and now Whitlock. At the same time, so far it has ranged between adequate and awful.
  10. And the winner is "keep the season at 162 games because the owners refuse to lose any revenue".
  11. I'm working on my own version of the serenity prayer thing. "Can't do jacksquat about it etc."
  12. Cora is my man, but I expect to see a fair amount of naysaying here too LOL
  13. Mookie is plenty good, but injuries do take their toll, and he'll be making 30 million a year for 10 more years after this one.
  14. Well, 8 million isn't going to kill the Red Sox. May just have to eat the rest.
  15. The Diekman signing was not Chaim's finest moment.
  16. He's 30 years old and has pitched 2 major league innings. Evidently his stuff just hasn't been that good. But maybe he will be another "Late Bloomer".
  17. They both have 46 RBI this year. Not really any difference between them.
  18. Sure, bury your head in those advanced stats and ignore that in the real world he helped win a big game against the Yankees.
  19. The buzzards sit waiting quietly on the fence about Mookie. Verdugo's recent heroics have closed their beaks for a bit.
  20. So can we drop the discussion about shortening the regular season forever now?
  21. And last night he pitched the 6th in a tie game and the 7th ahead by 1, facing Judge, Rizzo and Stanton.
  22. Sawamura was key to last night's win. He has a 2.78 ERA. Not sure why the knives are out...
  23. Makes sense but not dollars. So not happening.
  24. I think the two Div winners with the best records get byes and the other goes into the Wild Card round.
