  1. You might need to review Beni's FanGraphs page. He's far from a great fielder or baserunner. In fact he's a minus in both. The only thing he has done well this year is hit singles. He has 3 HR and his ISO is an atrocious .078.
  2. The value of the Beni trade for us all depends on Wink, who got off to a nice start but has been scuffling bigly and now has a perfect goose egg fWAR of 0.0.
  3. Bloom is having a bad season, it's hard to dispute.
  4. Janson Junk! Angels starting pitcher who just got his first big league win.
  5. Over 2020-2022, Devers's SLG has gone up markedly while Soto's has gone down markedly.
  6. But you old schoolers usually don't think that 10-12 homers and 50-60 RBI is all that great for a guy looking for top dollar.
  7. I think Devers will be the real litmus test on that.
  8. The 4th year, 2026, is subject to a vesting option based on plate appearances in 2025.
  9. As others have pointed out, Bogey has been hitting in the 3/4 slots all year and only has 7 HR and 39 RBI. How is he one of the best in the game with lousy old school numbers like those?
  10. Nothing to be done, jad, my fellow (Samuel) Beckett fan.
  11. Playing devil's advocate about Bogey, while we all love him, he's on pace this year for 10-12 homers and 50-60 RBI and plays average defense. He turns 30 in October. Might it be a bad idea to give him a $200-250 million contract?
  12. See how much he's been posting? He's like a mosquito on meth.
  13. Yes, I realize that a lot of fans have that mentality. As a Red Sox fan since 1969, I think it's a spoiled and entitled attitude. What's the use of trying to win titles when fans only want more and are dissatisfied with anything less.
  14. To me Kraft is an example of someone who looks like a nice guy but is the farthest thing from it.
  15. To me the bottom line is whether you treat the fans fairly by trying to put a winning team on the field, and spending. I believe Henry has done both consistently. The 2020 team might have been the first, and only, Red Sox team in the Henry era that obviously had no chance of making the playoffs going into the season. I think a lot of Sox fans have been spoiled by success, just as it was predicted they would become once they broke through and won it all.
  16. I wouldn't be too sure about that. Some fans are still very pissed about Betts. And while Betts is not Babe Ruth, nobody ever got over that one.
  17. Ignoring him does feel good, but this guy is not the type to just go away.
  18. An honest question - which Red Sox owner or any other sports team owner do you find likable?
  19. The several billion dollars does of course come from the people being entertained.
  20. What was the next most egregious?
  21. Bogaerts is somehow managing to not drive in runs in spite of an .837 OPS with RISP and .858 with men on. Goddamn it's a funny game.
  22. On the no-vax front, this one is a beauty. St. Louis plays in Toronto the next 2 nights. They have 3 unvaxed players. 2 of them are Goldschmidt (5.3 bWAR) and Arenado (5.1 bWAR).
  23. It's one incident. Hopefully he will learn from it. He'd better. Also not sure why you're not giving him any credit on the attitude front for getting vaxed.
