  1. Nuff said is right.
  2. No, but sometimes it's the best, or only, option to get better.
  3. And to that I will offer the old maxim: "Be careful what you wish for."
  4. The only way that's going to happen is if Henry sells the team. Henry is the guy responsible for all the many changes we've seen, from Theo to Ben to DD to Bloom.
  5. Right on both counts. I think the main reason they traded Vaz was that Bloom liked the prospects we got back enough.
  6. Yes, but releasing Bradley doesn't count much against him. It's trading for him that does.
  7. It might be the wrong move, but it doesn't really matter any more.
  8. I think you're probably right.
  9. I liked it okay too, but where I differ from you is that I'm now conceding it was a fail. JBJ has been well below replacement level for two years.
  10. Right, but I was only talking about the 2022 team.
  11. Right. Hopefully that one pays off yet.
  12. We just saw Hosmer use his partial no-trade to be diverted from Washington to Boston.
  13. But I think part of Bloom's mandate was making the playoffs this year. Plus Sam Kennedy had already come close to saying there was not going to be a fire sale, and they told Bogey he wasn't going to be traded.
  14. Bloom did have a certain amount of money to spend this year and he invested most of it in Story, Bradley, Wacha, Hill, Diekman.
  15. Sometimes everybody is partially right. You're right that Bloom walked into a less than ideal situation. But Bloom has had a fairly lousy 2022 that can't simply be blamed on DD.
  16. It's possible that's what Bloom wanted to do but the owners vetoed it, for PR reasons.
  17. Pretty sweet seeing the Yanks lose to the guy they traded, Montgomery, last night, and then today Montas, the guy that's replacing Montgomery, gives up 6 in 3 innings.
  18. More personal insults. You're a pretty immature guy, when it comes down to it.
  19. Just as you are entitled to continue being the most pompous poster on the board.
  20. Strawman.
  21. I don't worry about it. I don't even think about it. Because I know it ain't happening.
  22. From the farm, and from payroll being freed up as contracts like JD's, Price's and Eovaldi's expire.
  23. The front office said the plan was to rebuild and compete at the same time. In 2021 and 2022 competing meant having a good shot at making the playoffs each year. It succeeded last year and looks likely to fail this year for various reasons. As for not divulging specific plans for 2023 to Merloni, that's to be expected. GM's are not supposed to tip their hand to the rest of baseball.
  24. This loss goes to Eovaldi. He hasn't been the same since coming off the IL, and it's just one more thing that's hurting us...
  25. I think that's very possible, yes.
