The only way that's going to happen is if Henry sells the team.
Henry is the guy responsible for all the many changes we've seen, from Theo to Ben to DD to Bloom.
But I think part of Bloom's mandate was making the playoffs this year.
Plus Sam Kennedy had already come close to saying there was not going to be a fire sale, and they told Bogey he wasn't going to be traded.
Sometimes everybody is partially right.
You're right that Bloom walked into a less than ideal situation.
But Bloom has had a fairly lousy 2022 that can't simply be blamed on DD.
Pretty sweet seeing the Yanks lose to the guy they traded, Montgomery, last night, and then today Montas, the guy that's replacing Montgomery, gives up 6 in 3 innings.
The front office said the plan was to rebuild and compete at the same time. In 2021 and 2022 competing meant having a good shot at making the playoffs each year. It succeeded last year and looks likely to fail this year for various reasons.
As for not divulging specific plans for 2023 to Merloni, that's to be expected. GM's are not supposed to tip their hand to the rest of baseball.
