  1. Very interesting article. Speier is really becoming a go-to baseball writer. The deal between the M's and Rodriguez is one a lot of teams will be examining. It's an innovative one.
  2. We do try to be creative here.
  3. Me either. But I seem to come off that way here. It's all relative.
  4. Game threads = No Place for Pollyannas.
  5. You are wrong LOL. The $4 mill isn't a buyout, it's a player option for 2023.
  6. I suspect we should be happy if he ends up a decent pen arm. The scouting reports had him as a back-end starter at best, I think.
  7. Plus he has 4 dingers in his last 6 games and has raised his OPS to a moderately respectable .724.
  8. I've read in a couple of places that his tax hit for 2022 is 5.8 million. I defy anyone to figure it out. Edit: Here's my guess. The contract guarantees him $10 million. However, in order to collect the full $10 million, he has to opt into a second year, which would make it 2 years and $10 million for an AAV of $5 million. If he declines it's 1 year with an AAV of $6 million. So should the AAV for 2022 be $5 million or $6 million? I assume that to get it to $5.8 million, there must be some weird little adjustment based on the option year being less than the first year.
  9. One isolated incident. Big deal. If it happened regularly you'd have a point.
  10. The team option is for 2 years/$26 million. Add the $6 million they paid this year and it's $32 million.
  11. Every manager makes questionable moves. Just have to agree to disagree on this one.
  12. The contract incentives all relate to options for next year. When you look into it it only made sense.
  13. Although Refsnyder has done enough to warrant bringing him back, because he's also very cheap.
  14. But now that the team is virtually eliminated is the time to give a guy like Cordero another look-maybe his last look.
  15. Yes, the Pats are a good example of how hard it is to keep fans happy.
  16. Short little memories for sure.
  17. OK Mr. Downer. 4 homers in 6 games is still 4 homers in 6 games.
  18. My vote was just OK. I'm fine with that.
  19. It's hard to look good in the dugout when your team is sucking.
  20. Why? Everyone seems to agree Bloom is responsible for the 2022 mess.
  21. Cordero has 4 homers in his last 6 games. Not sure I'd give up on him just yet. Let him play the rest of the year and decide then.
  22. Cot's Contracts sucks now, BTW. They don't even show Bradley on the Sox payroll costs any more, just moved him to the Jays. They must have had some layoffs.
  23. Correction, Bradley is a 12 million hit for tax purposes and an actual outlay of 17.5 million - 9.5 + 8 buyout.
  24. Chaim Bloom, American Picker - I kind of like that one.
  25. Gee thanks for that second sentence...
